I have severe celiac and the omelette Made me bloat up immediately and the grits were good but definitely not safe if you are severe like me. Servers do not know what gluten free is either. They do have gluten free pancakes but u wouldn’t take the chance
I am gluten intolerant, not Celiac. This a good little diner that offers Audi’s gluten free bread options. I had no issues, but since cross contamination does not affect me, I do not know how safe it is for people with severe issues. There’s so few breakfast options for GF folks, I get excited when I find even a decent one.
After ordering my gluten free pancakes, the chef personally came out to tell me that their pancakes are not gluten free. They are gluten friendly. They have noting that is gluten free. I am so thankful he came out to tell me that. He said he did not want me to get sick. If you have celiac like I do, do not eat here. It is not safe.
Our waitress did not seem to be familiar with gluten/gluten-free options at all; when we asked, my wife had to ask her to go to the kitchen to ask. We heard someone laugh when she asked if the bacon was gluten-free and said, “Bacon has gluten?” NOTHING on the menu has “gf” identification. Food was good but, while the said they have gf options, uncertain how safe for allergies/celiacs.
Dined at the Tuckahoe location today and had a concerning first experience. Nothing on the menu is marked GF. However, it does note they have GF pancakes for an extra charge and the waitress let us know they also have GF waffles. I asked if the bacon was GF and she said she had no idea. I asked her if she could check and since it’s an open kitchen I could see her asking. After the chuckling and the head cook saying -I guess so-,our server came back and said “it’s GF because there is no milk in it”. The GF pancake tastes like a box mix, the potatoes were good and the eggs were good right.
I am gluten and dairy intolerant and had a mild reaction.
If you have celiac, I would not recommend this place at all.
Did not order, got up and walked out. They cook everything on shared equipment, even pancakes and waffles. This is not a place for someone with celiac.
