I was suspect the moment I placed my order. The friendly waitress started gazed at me with confusion but nodded her that everything would be fine as I described my need for no contamination. A few hours into the evening.. poisoned.

The gluten free on the window ad is not for celiac sorry to say. They have s lot to learn

This was good, price was reasonable. It’s a small place so be prepared to wait. It is also an order at the counter and food is brought to you type of place, I wasn’t aware of that going in. Most things are gluten free but I see room for cross contamination as there was no dedicated non-gluten space. I did ask if they could change their gloves when making my food and the lady agreed they would. We did witness a man come in and steal food from a workers hands so they got that going for them... Small parking lot so expect that too. All in all, good place and if I am near it again I will give it another try

I was able to get a Gluten-free, Dairy-free, and Corn-free meal here. I know, going to a Mexican place and not having corn is like going to a Chinese restaurant and not having rice... i think the key was going at a not so busy time which was stupid 4:30/5:00pm on a Saturday. I was explicit with the person taking my order about changing gloves. And I did confirm that their homemade potato chips are cooked in the same fryer as other gluten containing products. So no potato chips for me. I ended up getting a tiger prawn salad - the dish I ordered came on 2 corn tortillas that I substituted for extra lettuce. And I also got an appetizer of cooked cacti with tomatoes and onions and had them leave off the cheese. It was good and I was full afterwards. But I do agree with other reviews - a bit pricey.

This is the Cactus appetizer with tomatoes and onions and pea shoots that I asked them to leave off the cheese.
This was the Tiger Prawn dish that I had them leave off the corn tortillas and substitute extra lettuce.

I asked if they could change their gloves before making my dish since I'm a Celiac and they make burritos and sandwiches in the same kitchen. The woman said they could not because they were so busy, but the chef would do the best he can. I did not feel comfortable eating here so I left.

If you're going to advertise gluten free, you should be prepared to take all precautions. I've eaten at places with much smaller kitchens and I never get sick because they know how to prepare things separately.

I found this place accidentally and was so excited to see that it was not only celiac friendly but delicious. This is much better than your usual Mexican place. They use fresh ingredients and have gourmet, unusual combinations and flavors!

Some of the best mexican food I have ever had! If not the best mexican food! The food is plated so nicely and make sure to talk to one of the owners about your celiac disease or food allergies they will make sure you are taken care of! Most of the menu is gluten free and even dairy free or can easily be made dairy free.

Bonus: Dedicated Fryer!

Knowledgable and very friendly staff. Excellent food, very nicely prepared with great presentation. Lots of GF choices. I had El Aguila cater a small all GF party with many Celiac guests and not one issue reported. One of my favorite restaurants in Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek area. Upscale restaurant food in a taqueria setting.

This place doesn't take ANY precautions to prevent cross contamination despite answering "everything is gf except the flour tortillas and tortas." Chips are fried in the same oil, flour tortillas are put on the same grill, etc. And they weren't knowledgeable at all. They didn't even realize that this cross-contamination is even a problem despite having "gluten free" written in large letters on the window.

Food was really tasty but a little overpriced. Plentiful gf options but most of the meat was too spicy for my kids. Loud, busy environment. I will eat here again.

Out of the way, order at the counter, a little loud, a little pricey but it's my new favorite restaurant. I was overwhelmed by the number of gluten free options. The staff is very sweet. Complete menu is available on the web.
