When ordering, we informed staff that we *needed* gluten free due to my wife and son having Celiac disease. They seemed a little shaky on what was and wasn't GF but we talked them through the fact that even cross contamination would make us sick and they seemed to get it after that. Well, both my wife and son got sick that night after eating (supposedly gluten free) lettuce wrapped burgers. They had all the classic symptoms the next day as well. They were definitely glutened by Elevation Burger and we will not return.
Staff is very good about asking if gluten free due to allergy/medical issue. Open kitchen allows you to watch them prepare your food, so you know if it's safe!
Love that everything is organic. Asked for lettuce wrap and was asked if it was for a gluten allergy. Fav burger place
Amazing. Careful of gluten and nut allergies. New gloves, etc.
This was at the Wynnewood, PA location across from the train station. No GF buns. Burger came wrapped in lettuce surrounded by paper - what a mess! I’d have rather brought my own GF bun or order it in a bowl. Cashier did ask about”gluten allergy” after I tried ordering a GF bun and he said they don’t offer that option. Cook did appear to change gloves when handling the burger. Friers are only for fries. Very good but saltier than most.
Not a great first impression - told the person taking the order that my son has Celiac, and she responded “what’s that.” But, was able to eventually confirm that they have a separate area where they prepare the burgers with gluten free buns. They also claimed that the fries were prepared in the separate area, but I’m still not convinced. However, the only fried things I saw on the menu were fries, so probably ok in any event. Bareburger seems much more aware (and caring) about Celiac issues. I don’t think we would return to Elevation Burger.
The manager, Michael, took my order and instructed cooks to change gloves and made them aware of my allergy. He personally brought food out to me and made sure it was on a separate tray from the other non- gluten food. This was all on a busy Saturday night. I would definitely go again.
Highly recommended for celiac (or anyone who likes good food and nice staff). Talked to Michael (the manager). Very nice and very knowledgeable. Gluten free burgers, chicken, fries (dedicated gluten free fryer), hotdogs. No gluten free bread or buns yet but Michael said they are coming.
Dedicated fryer for fries. The employees there are great. They immediately gave me comfort as they took all the right steps. Packaged my lettuce wrap burger separately. Changed gloves. Etc. Love this place and plan on coming back again and again. They understand gluten intolerance and celiac.
The burger and fries are delicious! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable of handing food for people with gluten allergies. When ordering your food, be sure to tell them that you have a gluten allergy so they know to change their gloves and take extra precaution.
Getting celiac friendly food has never been so easy. You can order online and check off "gluten allergy" and it will be ready for you when you pick it up! The burgers are wrapped in lettuce and they change their gloves, etc, when preparing your item. I've been getting their single burger with cheese, bacon, mushrooms, and caramelized onions. 😋 yum
I have celiac and am extremely sensitive to cross contamination. This is one of the very few restaurants I can eat at safely. They have always been very friendly and accommodating and the procedures they have in place make it airtight. They have an allergy alert button on the ticket and a separate prep area away from the buns. I get a lettuce wrap, there are no gluten free buns. They don't ever put anything in the fryers except fries, so they are perfectly safe. The burgers are juicy and delicious every time and the shoestring fries are killer!!
No buns. I got a chicken breast in lettuce. The staff wasn't very helpful or enthusiastic. They kind of stuffed the chicken and fries in a bag. It made a huge mess when I tried to get both out of the bag, even tho I stayed in the restaurant. There was also trash on the floor. The food was fine.
Delicious burger and fries. Staff seemed knowledgable about cross contamination and brought the fries I was sharing w my gluten eating husband on its own separate tray along with my burger. Other groups were served with a single tray. I asked that they change gloves as well per previous reviews. Can't wait to go back!
I'm a vegetarian and was pleasantly surprised to hear that their Veggie Burger #1 was GF! Be careful though, the VB #2 is not. They don't offer a gluten free bun, but you can however get your burger wrapped in lettuce. This is not only a healthier option, but it is also quite tasty! Their french fries are also gluten free and are fried in a separate fryer. I have gone to this location multiple times and have always been satisfied.
This place has a dedicated fryer, which is always a treat. Burgers were wrapped in lettuce. It reminded me of a Five Guys type of model, but not as greasy. I would've thought the burgers would be more seasoned and juicy for being grassfed, but they were kind of bland (reason for 4 stars), but being able to eat fries made it worth it.
I've eaten here a couple of dozen times now. Good food, great fries, and the staff is consistently careful to prepare my meal in a safe way. Just let them know that you need it prepared safe gluten-free and they will take good care of you.
Dedicated kitchen prep and fryers that only handle fries (in olive oil!). No GF buns but they do really good lettuce wraps you can actually pick up. Be sure to let them know right at the beginning of your order that you have an allergy vs a preference so they use the dedicated space. Grass fed beef too!
Their burgers are DELICIOUS and can always be ordered in a lettuce wrap. As far as I know, all toppings are GF (you might have to double check on the "Elevation sauce"). Their fries are GF as well since they're the only thing the fryer is used for.
We can serve our burgers in a lettuce wrap that you can actually pick up and eat, making them gluten free. We cut our potatoes (GMO-free) fresh and fry them in 100% olive oil (GMO-free) with just salt added. We never dust the fries with anything, and we fry nothing else in the fryers, so the fries are gluten free. Our beef is 100% organic, grass fed, free range, and we grind it on site. When ordering, please tell your cashier if you are very sensitive to gluten, so we can take all necessary precautions to avoid cross contamination. ******************** In response to the May 15 review from MikeG: You have to specify you are sensitive to gluten in addition to ordering a lettuce wrap if you need us to change gloves. People order the lettuce wrap for so many different reasons, and we can't afford the time it takes for the extra glove changes to do it for every single lettuce wrap. The cashier should have explained this to you if he or she knew it was your first time, and I'm very sorry if that was missed.. If you say you are very sensitive to gluten, the cashier will mark it on your order and we will take all necessary precautions, which you can watch us do because we have an open kitchen. We take this EXTREMELY seriously and have at least a few very regular guests with Celiac disease who have never gotten sick and keep coming back.
I've been to this place twice in the past month. The second time I watched how they handled my order. While the burger I ordered was wrapped in lettuce, they handled everything with gloved cover hands that were picking up buns for other orders. There are cross contamination issues here that I don't think they are aware of when preparing a gluten free order. The food was good but again there needs to be a effort to make sure there are no cross contamination issues when preparing gluten free orders. I'd rate this place higher but this is a major issue.
Grass fed burgers wrapped in lettuce. Fryers only host fries. Wait staff brought my burger on a separate tray. Would have given four stars but the cashier taking my order didn't know if any of the sauces, mustard or ketchup was gluten free so I just ate without. I wish restaurants would train their staff or have a list of what is gluten free .
