When we arrived I asked for and was given a separate GF menu. They asked if it was our first time there and when we said yes, they brought us each a “sampler platter” with a few small tastings: little tasting cups of four soups (jalapeño, clam chowder, gumbo, and something else I can’t remember) and an oyster nacho. All were on the same plate. The guy sat this plate down in front of me and said the only two things with gluten were the gumbo and the nacho. So I’m sitting there staring at food on my plate that they know I can’t eat. Furthermore, the GF menu only listed the clam chowder as GF not the other two soups the guy said I could have. Between the fact that they put gluten food on my plate and the inconsistency between what they gave me and the menu, I decided not to try anything my on this tasting plate. My husband (not GF) gleefully ate everything on my plate in addition to his own and was very happy with all of it! 😁 For the meal I ordered the shrimp with mashed potatoes and spinach. I confirmed with the server that it was gluten free and prepared separately. The food tasted good. They gave us several coupons for 20% off at subsequent visits, which was nice.
I really appreciate the dedicated and full gluten free menu. Staff is always very friendly too
They have a separate GF menu, most soups except gumbo are thickened with corn starch and not a roux, and the waiter was very friendly and helpful in checking with the chef about everything. I’d give this place 5/5 for good food and good service, but I got sick about an hour later. I don’t want to say it was definitely their food; I’m not sure. But if you are very sensitive I’d say go here with caution, ask lots of questions, and remind them about anything that could be questionable.
Menu was made available upon request and I was allowed substitutions.
chef came out, sat with me, and made specific meal that met all my food allergies! Thanks for the great meal!
