Mediocre experience made worse by horrible customer service. We asked our server about gluten free options as nothing was noted on the menu. She went to the kitchen and came back to tell us the steaks were gluten free. We asked another question and she left to ask the kitchen again. Eventually the manager came out to answer questions directly and we settled on a lettuce wrapped burger with a side salad. When it came out it had sat under the warmer for so long that the lettuce was black. We had to alert the server and her response was - oh I didn’t even notice. She brought it back to the kitchen and replaced the top leaf, not the bottom. The burger had nothing on it, just meat and ketchup and cheese, it was supposed to have pickles, onion, and tomato. They up-charged for the side salad. A sad burger and a side salad cost 20.00. Would NOT recommend. As a side note, the manager advised a couple other menu items, but then the kitchen manager told us that they did not recommend those same items - so it does not seem like they know what they are talking about.

Very celiac conscious. Waiter was knowledgeable and even brought the manager over to discuss options. Unfortunately, there were hardly any celiac safe options on the menu.

Went because I saw it on the app, host was unsure, waiter spoke with chef and said I could have chicken no seasoning and vegetables. We left, would not recommend.

I wanted to order the shrimp tacos but they confirmed for me that they were not gluten-free because they had a corn and flour mixture tortilla. The waitress had told the manager I had a gluten allergy. So they wanted to be sure to prepare it and prevent cross-contamination.. So they prepared it in a gluten-free fashion and instead of tortillas they offered it up on huge Romain lettuce leaves. It was still delicious!

My husband, who is anaphylactic to wheat, rye, and barley (meaning immediate ER trips if they even use the same water or utensils) are the boiled shrimp with no issues! They tasted fresh and were well-seasoned! ONLY safe for this. The fryer is shared.

NOT celiac friendly. Told us they couldn’t say anything as gluten free and they gave flour flying all over the kitchen. Manager advised if we were celiac to not dine there. Stay away If you are celiac

Our waiter went the extra mile to make sure everything went well. He wasn’t knowledgeable but he spoke with the manager to ask about things he didn’t know, marked our ticket and went down to the kitchen to make sure they knew how to prepare our meal. They have a separate fryer they can use!! Make sure you request it. We got crab legs and blackened shrimp with veggies and fries. It was good but pricy for what it was as ppl have said but you are paying for experience and a wonderful view on the deck! If you park in the lot beside them they validate for 3 hours!it has been almost 24 hours and none of us are sick

They were very friendly. The waitress said she talked to the chef and he would make sure it was gluten free. I only got the grilled chicken and a plain baked potato. And I still got sick and very bloated. I don't know if the chicken was with other chicken breast with seasoning or something with gluten but I don't feel good at all. They were nice but to be safe just wouldn't eat there again with celiac disease

food was great showed up about 30 minutes before they closed and seemed like they did not want to serve us at first but did. it seemed more like they wanted to get out of there. As a former waiter I did not like they way they treated us.

No GF menu, but the manager is anxious to help. Unfortunately I think they all need more education. I had the ribs with the shrimp stuffed with jalapeño cheese and wrapped in bacon with a side of rice pilaf. I was afraid at they way they responded so took a gluten ease witch usually takes care of cross contamination, but I still got a few spots of DH, so there must have been a little G there somewhere. Food was awesome!

Limited GF options. Waiter said the ribs were GF but they were not. Thankfully, the chef caught it. The food was good once we got it. The service was slow and he was slightly confused. The atmosphere was great with a wonderful outside area.

No GF knowledge at all! Called ahead to see if they have a GF menu; was told they could accommodate us. Server said anything grilled was GF. When asked about sauces and sides, she was lost and went to kitchen at least 5 times to ask a question. Ordered grilled mahi with no sauces. First plate came out with sauce.on side, but it had spilled onto chicken. Sent it back. Second plate looked fine.

Wait, what is that hiding under the vegetables? It's spaghetti noodles all under the vegetables. Manager was quick to refund us for that meal, but wasn't interested in hearing my explanation for why it is so important to not cross contaminate.

Yes, yes, yes! My family and I went here base off the earlier review. We asked to speak to chef Jorge and he is amazing! If you want fresh seafood go here(they also have chicken, ribs, etc.) . Others places near cannot beat the service and quality! When we come back to Galveston, we will eat here.

We recently vacationed in Galveston and really wanted fresh seafood but didn't see a restaurant on this site that served fresh seafood. We saw this restaurant located directly across the street from Pleasure Pier and really wanted to see if they could serve us. We are a family of Celiacs. The chef, Jorge, came to our table and he told us he could make anything we want. We ended up ordering blackened salmon and grill Mahi Mahi. He knew how to avoid cross contamination. The food was delicious!!! No one got sick. Chef Jorge was fantastic and came out twice to check on us. I highly recommend Fish Tales!! I'm definitely going back next time we vacation there.
