Cashier very helpful and when I told her celiac she said without hesitation "right I've got it"...I watched them clean and prep the counter by lining it with several layers of foil, open new lettuce to make my wrap and take out some condiments that were in smaller containers from the fridge in single serve ketchup containers. The even bagged my order separate from my non allergy family members order. I felt comfortable with their response and did not get sick.
i told the cashier that i just wanted french fries and that i had a gluten allergy (people seem to take gluten "allergy" more serious than "celiac disease") and she turned around and yelled "GLUTEN ALLERGY!!!" to the kitchen and it was so embarrassing the entire place was looking at me. and i'm almost positive they didn't change gloves or anything.
While the person taking our order politely asked me to repeat myself when I said “gluten allergy (I know celiac isn’t an allergy, it’s just easier to say sometimes),” another person nodded knowingly and started changing his gloves. He took charge and made sure the other workers knew what to do. He bagged my daughter’s burger separately, the fries in their own bag, and burgers with buns on their own. It was a great experience; the food was yummy and we felt safe. My daughter didn’t have any reaction.
I order from this location weekly and the staff have always been great about customizing our burgers to keep me from getting “glutened”. They are one of the few places I can get “safe” fries. My usual order is a burger bowl with a ton of toppings and a small order of Cajun fries. They are my go-to in Westchester Commons for an allergy aware, quick dinner.
I eat here about once a month and feel fine afterwards. I always call them after placing my order to let them know I have an allergy and I’ve watched them change their gloves before preparing my food.
