I've been to several Five Guys in multiple locations and not every one is created equal. But I had a great experience at this one! The gentleman who took our order (sorry, didn't catch his name) made sure to ask why I was ordering a burger in a boat instead of a bun, and then informed the staff. Later on he questioned whether they had taken the correct precautions when making my food, put some gloves on and made my order himself. So I would definitely watch the staff when making your food, but this man took my allergy seriously and took things into his own hands. Food was typical Five Guys...burger and fries.

Had the burgers wrapped in lettuce and the fries are in a dedicated fryer. My sensitive celiac daughter had zero reaction. Food was delicious.

AWESOME!! Had plain fries and a cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce with onions. Did not get sick at all. Plus the burger was so tasty!! I have celiac disease. So far in Ocean City Maryland has been super hard to find someplace open that's gf this time of year. I highly recommend Five guys as they are gf at home in Pittsburgh PA also 😁💗
Yes
Wife has celiacs and I heard they were knowledgeable about food allergies. Walked in and asked cashier about gluten free options and she looked like she never heard the word before. Walked right back out.
Thank you five guys! Allergy protocol is taken seriously and I watched as one cook made my entire order from start to finish with clean gloves and a clean workspace. They get it, and I didn't get sick after eating here multiple times. Fries are good too but I wish they were crispier :)
Yes
Nice quick meal. No worries when you're eating the fries. Employees don't always care but with a little research on their site or common knowledge you'll be fine.
My very sensitive Celiac kid was able to eat a cheese burger without bun and fries without any reaction. Staff changed gloves to avoid cross contamination.
Absolutely the most humiliating experience I have ever had. Not only was I told that I should know myself about my own allergies when inquiring about which milkshakes are gluten-free, I was told repeatedly to have a 'blessed day' when I told that employee he should be fired. Really, now my religion is an issue? (Of Note: this is the 2nd similar experience at a Five Guys). Why have GF options when the employees DGAF?
No
A pretty safe bet for the occasional burger and fries for my celiac daughter. You can choose a lettuce wrap or aluminum foil tin-- the tin makes it easier to eat toppings than the bun ever did in pre-GF days, so it works well.
Five Guys is soooooooo food allergy friendly! The staff is very understanding of a gluten free diet and even said "food allergies are nothing to mess with!" They only fry french fries and they use separate grills for burgers and buns, so no cross contamination!
Order taker asks about allergy and informs cook staff. I like that I can see them following the protocols (change gloves, clean grill, etc). Dedicated french-fry fryer. Good food.

Refused to even serve me they said they can’t prevent any cross contamination even though the only gluten containing item in this location is the buns. Wouldn’t change gloves or utensils or anything just told me no.

April 26, 2014. These guys handle the 'Allergy burger' very well. Ask for it by that name, they'll know how to treat your food prep. They have a dedicated frier and make a mean lettuce wrapped burger. I always order extra lettuce and they don't fall apart. I never have an issue with cross-contamination at this chain.

They were so careful when preparing my burger and french fries. They do not have gluten free buns. The fries are safe to eat. I order a burger without a bun and bring in my own bun.

Ordered burger with no bun. Guy was helpful in answering questions. They hard a list of ingredients for different sauces. And marked it was for allergy on the order.
