When my sister, who has celiac, came to town we always went to this restaurant numerous times, even though it's quite a drive. They were kind and very caring. NO LONGER! I called to request gluten-free take-out and was told the wait would take a really long time because they were "very busy." I said that was just fine. When I ordered a burger (plain) with gluten-free bun and fries I was told the fryers were not gluten free. I was shocked. I said, "They always used to be." The manager said, in a very rude voice, "Not any more!" Clear message. This is no longer a place that cares about people that have food allergies. It's always hard to hear that message, but it's especially hard to hear it from people in a place that used to care so much.

June 2021: No Longer Celiac Safe. Cross contaminated fryers have made it unsafe for those that required gluten-free. The new owners destroyed the best GF place to eat in greater Lansing. I am both sad and frustrated.

March 2016: This is our favorite restaurant! We eat here once or twice a week. My son and I have Celiac disease and are very sensitive to gluten exposure. This is the only Flap Jack restaurant that has gluten free options. The owners of this particular Flap Jack have Celiacs in their family. As a result they have been very proactive in safeguarding their facility. They have separate equipment for preparing GF meals and make excellent GF pancakes. I highly recommend this business.

This restaurant has always been great for us. They are knowledgeable and cook the pancakes on a separate griddle to prevent cross contamination. Their procedures are all the same for gluten free so it’s one place I don’t have to tell them to put “allergy” to make sure extra precautions for gluten free. The owners are also very friendly!

(Non-celiac) I had gf pancakes & they were honestly THE BEST I've had since becoming gluten sensitive many years ago. I took the ones I didn't finish to go (I almost never ask for a doogie bag). Bacon is excellent as well Also, the owner told me they have a dedicated fryer

Fantastic GF pancakes. Wish I knew the secret! Great waitress too. Homey & comfortable place to eat. My husband said he felt like he was back at a favorite childhood restaurant. ☺

Food seemed safe - they answered questions correctly. They said they do have a dedicated fryer and a dedicated grill for GF. Burgers were very dry and tasteless. Taco salad was dry (meat). I thought I had ordered cheese for my GF burger. The waitress said she'd bring a couple of slices of cheddar cheese. Instead she brought a bun top with melted cheese. The bun she brought was not GF. Since the whole table ordered GF - don't understand the confusion. Rookie mistake that could have made a person with Celiac very sick. Extra $1 for GF bun (which I'm ok with) and there was a charge of $1.19 for GF fries. Not sure how much regular fries were. I'm going to say they are Celiac Friendly - but watch for special things brought out. $45 for 4 lunches with pops.

The food was good, and the staff was nice and very knowledgeable. The pancakes were great- they did have a hint of the gluten-free taste, but were much fluffier and just better than any mix we've made at home. Our celiac daughter loved them, and didn't get sick.

I have had the flap jacks and the waffles and both are better than I can make at home--and that's pretty rare. Excellent taste and seems "real". Owners are committed to providing gluten-free options at this location.

This restaurant started preparing gluten free pancakes after the owner's grandchild was diagnosed with celiac disease. They have a dedicated grill for their gluten free pancakes, and recently purchased a dedicated waffle iron to make gluten free waffles. They are also looking to have gluten free bread/toast in the future. Also, they have dedicated grills for their eggs, a separate grill for their potatoes, and a separate grill for their regular pancakes, so that they can prevent cross contamination. I had a great breakfast with gluten free chocolate chip pancakes, eggs over easy, and american fries. I l look forward to eating here again!
