This place is in a fabulous location. When I told my server that I had celiac, the Chef came out and spoke to me. This was a Friday night, very busy in Hyde Park and the restaurant was very busy but yet he took the time to come to my table and speak to me about what I could eat. I ordered salmon. After my food came, the chef came to my table again to see if I wanted anything else and to make sure I was ok.
There are plenty of gluten sensitive options on the menu. The eggplant lasagna was phenomenal. Unfortunately there is cross contact and the eggplant noodles are fried in the same fryer, so definitely not safe for celiac. The waitress did warn me about cross contact and verified I didn’t have an allergy. They also had a GF lemon olive oil cake for dessert which was lovely.
Decent restaurant. The grain bowls and maybe the pizza are the only truly celiac safe items (pizza is questionable). They boil all pasta in the same water so having GF pasta isn’t an option. The server kind of rushed us through our questions about preparation and cross contamination prevention that we weren’t too confident we wouldn’t get sick. We will update if we end up getting sick
I am very sensitive with gluten contamination, and I made that clear to my server. He ensured that the chef would be made aware of my restrictions and that they take gluten-free items seriously. I got the Sano grain bowl & it was incredible! Did not get sick, and will definitely be returning!
