food was good. the menu was just a wrinkled piece of paper though. stay classy
The only thing "gluten free" on the menu us shrimp or pork tacos. Manager refused to modify the tortilla chips to make them gluten free (leaving off the additional seasoning sprinkled after they are cooked). Then put tortilla chips on the gf order. I will not go back.
had breakfast, Popeyes omelet was delicious! went back for dinner, was pleased to find out they now have a dedicated fryer for tortilla chips! unfortunately dinner was only so-so, tried the guacamole, beef fajitas, and veggie fajitas, didn't have much flavor. I didn't get sick, server was knowledgeable and I felt safe with everything I got, so 5 stars for GF, but really only 3 for the actual food. salsa was great.
Screw Freds. They have a gluten free menu but half of it isn't even gluten free in the true sense of the word and their staff is rude, and they are the only place downtown without a happy hour. Their only saving grace is their salsa, which is pretty bangin.
good food - if you eat meat. there are practically no vegan options. our whole group was gf and we customized a salad to fit our allergies that four of us got... we had to send two of them back cause they messed it up and one of the salads had to be sent back twice. it was definitely a quality control issue. and, the gf menu is extremely small and the Mexican rice had gluten in it. overall, I was not impressed and I would recommend going to Ruby's across the street instead.
If you are truly gluten intolerant or celiac this is NOT the place for you. My stomach hurt even before the bill arrived at the table. Having the usual gluten reactions. The food was not even good, so that adds insult to injury.
Really not a fan of this place. I went here a couple of years ago so I hope that this place has changed since my last visit. Most of the people there didn't know what gluten free was, and had a serious attitude about it when asked. I felt very unwelcomed, and was there with my wedding party for a casual hangout spot. You would be better off at one of the many other spots in Maui that accommodate. Please see more gluten free (and dairy free) options in the area by checking out my Maui restaurant reviews: http://voices.yahoo.com/eating-glutenfree-dairyfree-5746646.html
Excellent food. Very accomodating for food allergies and intolerences. They have an ingredient list they can show you. They have a green sauce (suiza) thst is gluten free. Wonderful service and you can actually eat more than a salad here if you are eating gluten-free.
Tacos were very good, although for my personal taste I found the beans a little too spicy! Overall the food was tasty though!
