I'm a big fan of the NYC chain. This is the newest. This place is charming and very well run. There's a hh at the bar w gf meatballs that are so rich. Do ask for it to be gf though as the bread on the side has to be switched with gf bread.

I got the fried chicken and waffles and it was really good. The only things on the menu that can’t be made gluten free is the French toast and flatbreads.

The entire menu is either inherently GF or can be made GF. Chicken and waffles, avocado toast, oatmeal pancakes, French toast, chilaquiles....so many options! The only things on the menu not GF are the flatbreads and matzo balls. Nice clean updated (new) environment with very friendly staff.

AWFUL experience at Friedman’s in NYC. It’s a chain but I will never return to any. I was at the one on 49th. I communicated I had celiac, that it was very serious, that I could not have cross contamination. I did this when I sat down, and again when I ordered. They told me the only things not safe on the menu were the flatbreads and I trusted them. I ordered the matzo ball soup. When it was placed in front of me they said “gluten free matzo ball soup.” I ate half of it. There was even a GF flag in my bread. Then our waiter came out and said the matzo balls were in fact not gluten free. I will be sick for days and will have long term effects that they did not understand. I am mortified.
