A great experience! Had the cheeseburger on a gf bun with fries. They have gf buns & regular bun. Separate toasters. Will definitely go back.
Absolutely AMAZING! Wide menu, celiac safe! Ordered the avocado toast and blueberry pancakes. The waiter was super knowledgeable and accommodating. Even flagged the GF so that it was recognizable when it came out of the kitchen.
Great staff, great menu. Chicken and cheddar waffles were fab - going back soon!
Nothing else left to say that hasn't already been said. This place is a celiac's dream.
Everything except matza ball soup can be prepared gluten free. Gluten free food also have a special flag which is reassuring. Food was delicious and staff knowledgeable!
I visited this location with my boyfriend on our last day of a weekend trip to NYC. We used another app to find it as I am Celiac and need gluten free. The staff members were very courteous and knowledgeable about gluten free. They had man options for gluten free as well as regular meals. Food was delicious, place was very upbeat. Would definitely go back here again.
Come here for breakfast! It gets crowded but if you're gf or celiac its a must.
Great food. Everything except the french toast is gluten free and when my mom asked if there were gluten waffles available she was told the only flour they have in the kitchen is rice flour. Great atmosphere and service, too. I wish I lived next door to this place. (Except that it's in a really crowded neighborhood. :))
Celiac friendly. Entire menu is gluten free minus the buns for non gluten people. I was completely fine. No reaction at all. Wait staff was fantastic we sat towards the bacl so slightly more noisey but the cooks were very funny. Great atmosphere. My husband and I felt that it was a little pricey for burgers and fries, but then again it is the city. Overall great place to go!
99% of thier menu is gf. The CHICKEN AND WAFFLES COME FROM A DEDICATED GF FRYER 😍
Excellent menu and all choices seem to be safe. I had no problems. 🙂
Awesome. Only 2 things on a full menu that weren’t GF.
Very cute place and tons of gluten-free options! Very pricy though, and the menu is MUCH more limited for those who are dairy-free as well. All potato options (potato pancakes, potato hash) are cooked in butter and cannot be cooked in oil. Pancakes and waffles contain dairy as well. Once I figured out what I could order though, I had a delicious (though expensive) meal, and did not get sick. I got 2 eggs, fruit, gf toast, and chicken sausage.
waffles and pancakes are a definite must 😍
Had the chicken & waffles. Really good fried chicken. Waffle could be crispier & have more cheddar flavor, but still good.
This place is amazing, everything on the menu is gluten-free, or can be, with one soup exception. The owner has celiac so it’s about the safest place I can think of. If eating here every day was an option, I think I would do it!
Owner has celiac so she started this restaurant/s. Great service, great GF food, great atmosphere. Everything on menu is GF except 3 things- pastry basket, matzo, and one other thing. We ate their everyday for breakfast, once for lunch. My daughter loved the BLAT sandwich. They use Udi’s.
This is literally my go to spot when I am unsure of where to eat, scared of cross-contamination, or if family is in town. I enjoy the fried chicken GF of course their sweet potato fries are delish! The Ruben is the best one I have ever had and I love the cappuccino’s too! I wish they would open one in Jersey City!
Everything on menu is GF except French toast. The fried chicken and waffles was so worth it. Best fried chicken I’ve had and the cheddar habanero waffle was really good. Also have excellent cappuccino.
The most normal meal I have haf in months. do not pass this place up if you are celiac or gluten sensative. From alcoholic beverages choices to appetizers to entrees. great all around. Wings are to die for and pastrami sandwich was on point.
Wonderful meal. We were concerned that they may not understand gluten-free but then each dish came out with a little label that identified what was gluten-free and what was not. I’d do it again.
Based off the reviews I decided to eat here. I got very sick. I think hey cross contaminated their fryer. All I had was an omelette and toast so it's either the toaster or the fryer but I feel like it's the fryer based on the other bad reviews. I'm only commenting because I hope someone sees this before they go. It's ruined my whole day :-(
We visited 3 times for breakfast on our recent holiday to NYC. Anything can be made gluten free and lots naturally is. The staff are helpful, service quick and the food was delicious. I had pancakes (so fluffy), nova benny and steak and eggs. The gluten free food comes out with a flag which is reassuring. We had cheaper breakfasts elsewhere but thought the food here was delicious and worth what we paid.
Great Gluten Free menu! Everything can be make GF! Waffles and chicken is a must!!!!!
We love Friedman’s and Brown’s. We stop here whenever we are in the city. Breakfast is my favorite!!! So delicious! Heading back for one last meal today before we leave the city!!
Extremely celiac friendly and really good food. Apart from matzah ball soup and bread that comes with one of the appetizers, everything on the menu is gf. It's not that it can be made gf; it already is gf. Including fried chicken and waffles. And the non-gf people I eat with have loved everything they've ordered. If you tell them you have celiac, they'll even be extra careful and put a gf flag on your dish to be sure. We're in the city for a hockey game at MSG every year around the holidays and this is now our default dinner location (right around the corner too). I have celiac and have not gotten sick. Definitely worth stopping by. Can't recommend this place enough.
Absolutely amazing gluten free chicken and waffles. Cannot remember when that has ever been an option for me. Highly recommend
Lovely food and extremely nice staff. Everything on the menu was gluten free except one soup. Gluten free beer and a fried chicken to die for! Good sized portions and a must if you’re in New York!
Excellent food! Almost the entire menu is gf, so it's still important to tell your server that you're celiac. My husband and I both had the chicken and waffles, which are gf, but mine came with a little gluten free flag. The entire staff are very friendly!!
So good to be able to pick anything off the menu and know its safe for Celiac.
First time will not be last time! They r GF to the max!!! There was a bit of a wait depending on the time of day. But, that was only because they rock! The flip side is they do not rush u out!
Absolutely amazing! Hot fried chicken and waffles. Worth the wait!
Thank you Friedman’s!! It’s amazing to eat without fear.
EVERYTHING on the menu is Gluten Free! And Soooo good!
So, so good. The GF chicken and waffles are on point.
I hate to be the person leaving a negative review, especially because I've eaten here many times before safely, the food is tasty and the waitstaff is great. However, last Friday I got really sick about ten minutes into my meal (fried chicken on the dinner menu). I've got celiac and unfortunately I'm quite sensitive to cross contamination, This was definitely my typical gluten reaction. I was sick for the next two days. Like I said, I have eaten here many times before safely. I guess it just shows that even a celiac-friendly place can mess up -- any time you dine out, you are taking a chance. :(
I was so excited to try Friedman's, but they glutened me badly. Not sure what went wrong.
Staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable about food allergies and intolerances. They even used a gluten free toothpick sign to mark my food to make 100% certain it did not get mixed up.
Excellent wait staff- amazing comfort food! I had the Reuben sandwich with sweet potato fries. Will definitely go back .
Food was absolutely outstanding! Only one item on the food menu is not gluten free. I had the vegetable dumplings as a starter and for an entree I had the fried chicken with waffles. The best gluten free restaurant I've ever been to!
Receptive wait staff who effectively communicated my allergies to the kitchen during busy Sunday brunch hours. Had a delicious meal with the best GF toast and no ill reaction.
Ate here twice on our trip to NYC. Fried chicken, chicken and waffles, plus actual decent GF buns makes this a must visit!
Excellent burgers, breakfast, and fried chicken and waffles.
they do not have a dedicated fried. they did have a gluten free bun that was good. they had some potato chips that are homemade
Very good veggie burger
We've been here a few times as it's a good reliable place. The best time to visit is for their weekend brunch. They don't take reservations, so plan to wait but it's worth it. The chilaquiles and blueberry pancakes (with ricotta depending on the season) are always a hit with my family. They offer tofu as an egg sub. I recommend paying them a visit. If you go for lunch or dinner they have a great veggie bowl (vegan) that you can get over rice or quinoa that's delicious. You can add tofu, but I've gotten a couple times without.
kid friendly, reasonably priced (for nyc) super nice service, very good food, oh and everything on the menu is gluten free.
Waiter: "celiac is our specialty." I had a delicious burger and fries, which is a luxury I rarely enjoy.
Amazing restaurant, attentive staff who were really switched on. We had just landed from an 8hr flight and been on the go for 24hrs, long transfers and our body clocks were way out. Recommend to try the chips with spinach and cheese dip - Amazing. Burger was more than perfect and the homemade tomato soup was the best I've ever had. Our 15yr old has the allergies but we all eat the same, he said it the best place he's ever eaten in and I would agree. He's not been ill either (THANK YOU TO THE CHEFS AT FRIEDMANS). It's not cheap at all but worth every penny.
The best chicken and waffles in New York!
