Popped into @friedmansnyc and per the menu, 99% of the items there can be made GF. I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich and it was great. Fried chicken plus a decent GF bun it’s a win-win.

I had eaten here safely twice before, but I was glutened terribly last Friday. I ordered the fried chicken and waffles, and I believe it was the gluten free waffle because of how it looked and tasted, but either the fried chicken was not gluten free or there was some serious cross contamination. I felt light headed immediately after eating, followed by nausea, vomiting and diarrhea that night. Now the joint pain is starting so I am 100% sure it was gluten and not food poisoning. This is too bad because this is one of the few places I had trusted, it makes me feel like an idiot for ever leaving my house..

My sister and I both have celiac and we’ve eaten at Friedman’s on two different trips to NYC at two different locations. The food is heaven and celiac safe. Everyone is knowledgeable and the food comes out with “gluten free” flags even though 99% of the restaurant is GF. Highly recommend! And get the Mac and cheese!

This is my new favorite restaurant! The spinach dip was cheesy and yummy and the chicken and waffles were well it’s GF chicken and waffles! When was the last time you had that or how often can you find a restaurant that offers a waffle for one (vs a pancake) and chicken and waffles? I’m definitely winning tonight.

Service was amazing - staff was super knowledgeable about everything. They even asked if there was anything besides gluten that they should worry about. Their whole menu can be made gluten free - just not their matzo ball soup. We ordered a market side plate (3 sides) and got 2 sides of gf Mac and cheese and 1 side of garlic chili broccoli. The Mac and cheese was out of this world! For entrees, I got the famous fried chicken over the cheddar waffle. While I was already stuffed from the sides, I found myself devouring the chicken! I was too stuffed to eat the waffle but my boyfriend ate it and said it was delicious. He also enjoyed his lettuce-wrapped burger. 15/10 Definitely recommend this place, and not just because they label their food with little gluten free labels!!
