Fantastic gluten free brunch menu!! My family and ordered an Apple cider mimosa, French fries, fried chicken, waffles, and pancakes. Delicious and large portions!! Note that Friedman’s does not accept reservations but we (family of 4) were seated within 20 minutes. Highly recommend!!
This is my new favorite restaurant! The spinach dip was cheesy and yummy and the chicken and waffles were well it’s GF chicken and waffles! When was the last time you had that or how often can you find a restaurant that offers a waffle for one (vs a pancake) and chicken and waffles? I’m definitely winning tonight.
Service was amazing - staff was super knowledgeable about everything. They even asked if there was anything besides gluten that they should worry about. Their whole menu can be made gluten free - just not their matzo ball soup. We ordered a market side plate (3 sides) and got 2 sides of gf Mac and cheese and 1 side of garlic chili broccoli. The Mac and cheese was out of this world! For entrees, I got the famous fried chicken over the cheddar waffle. While I was already stuffed from the sides, I found myself devouring the chicken! I was too stuffed to eat the waffle but my boyfriend ate it and said it was delicious. He also enjoyed his lettuce-wrapped burger. 15/10 Definitely recommend this place, and not just because they label their food with little gluten free labels!!
3/11/19 They were very knowledgeable about GF and cross contamination. The waitress made me feel very comfortable about eating there. Almost everything on the menu can be made GF. My Cobb Salad was amazing and came out labeled Gluten Free. Everyone else enjoyed the regular food too.
Almost everything on the regular menu can be made gf- they don’t have a separate gluten free menu, but our server was awesome and knew what could be made gf/what couldn’t. I ordered the blueberry pancakes and they were fantastic!! My only regret is that we only ate here once during our trip.
Great gluten free restaurant! Believe the reviews and try it! I had the chicken and waffles which the server said doesn’t even have to be modified, it’s GF as is! The menu states 99% of the menu can be made GF! I will be sure to dine at Friedman’s on each visit to NYC and I’m pretty sure there are multiple locations!
I visited this location with my boyfriend on our last day of a weekend trip to NYC. We used another app to find it as I am Celiac and need gluten free. The staff members were very courteous and knowledgeable about gluten free. They had man options for gluten free as well as regular meals. Food was delicious, place was very upbeat. Would definitely go back here again.
Great food. Everything except the french toast is gluten free and when my mom asked if there were gluten waffles available she was told the only flour they have in the kitchen is rice flour. Great atmosphere and service, too. I wish I lived next door to this place. (Except that it's in a really crowded neighborhood. :))
Celiac friendly. Entire menu is gluten free minus the buns for non gluten people. I was completely fine. No reaction at all. Wait staff was fantastic we sat towards the bacl so slightly more noisey but the cooks were very funny. Great atmosphere. My husband and I felt that it was a little pricey for burgers and fries, but then again it is the city. Overall great place to go!
Very cute place and tons of gluten-free options! Very pricy though, and the menu is MUCH more limited for those who are dairy-free as well. All potato options (potato pancakes, potato hash) are cooked in butter and cannot be cooked in oil. Pancakes and waffles contain dairy as well. Once I figured out what I could order though, I had a delicious (though expensive) meal, and did not get sick. I got 2 eggs, fruit, gf toast, and chicken sausage.
