Absolutely wonderful restaurant for both my souse who is not Celiac and myself. The staff was fantastic, well educated in their menu and gluten related issues. The pancakes were great too. Wish I could stay in NYC longer to come back there more!

Booked for dinner here and didn’t disappoint. Comprehensive gluten free menu and food comes from kitchen with gluten free flag.

So much GF on this menu, this is fantastic for celiacs. They are on it with separate processes for gluten free food amd comes out with a gluten free flag. Big bonus that they have singing servers some nights of the week! Only down side is they don't have a kids menu, but there are things on the menu GF that kids would like, just can work out a bit more expensive.

Service was great as usual but I went away from the Nova Bennie I would normally get and went with the avo toast and it wasn't great. Cold toast, poached egg was over cooked and pretty flavorless. Think they use udis bread. Bacon was $11 and I got 3 slices of rubber. Not what I am accustomed to from Friedmans. Hopefully was an anomaly.

Great spot - my son has celiac and I am gluten free and dairy free (not celiac) - and my other son has no restrictions but is super picky…everyone was very happy here! Not a fully gluten free restaurant , but they said everything but the matzo ball soup and French toast can be made gluten free. Very knowledgeable staff, and the meals for those of us with gluten restrictions came with a little gluten free sign on a toothpick to show they took care to prevent cross contamination. My celiac son thought that was so cool he kept his little sign! We will definitely be back!

It’s a great restaurant. I had a burger with fries and it tasted great. There sang a live band while we were eating and the singers were the stuff. They have gf menu. When you come there you’ll get a 70 minutes slot to eat but that’s no problem because the food is coming very fast.

Popped in for a quick dessert before going to see Six. Amazing carrot cake! It came out marked Gluten Free. The man behind the bar also said the kitchen is told in the notes it’s an allergy even though it’s all separate anyway. Will have to go back for a meal!

I always love Friedman’s. If only all restaurants could adopt the way they do GF business. It’s so easy and staff gets it. Food is always good. Ambience is nice.

Since we had tickets to a Broadway show, I searched for a nearby restaurant with gluten free options. Friedman’s did not disappoint! I cannot recall ever being able to have cheese blintzes after having to start eating gluten free. They were delicious! When I told the server I have a gluten intolerance, she said she would let the kitchen know. My blintzes came out with a little gluten free flag:-)
My friend, who is not gluten free, loved her meal as well, and now has a safe place to take her recently diagnosed daughter the next time they go to a show.

The Friedmans chain is great with gf food and is very safe. Most foods can be made gf and they have separate fryers. Super yummy. This specific restaurant IS a singing restaurant which is fun but can be very loud, so be prepared!!!

Never understand why they let you stand at the door for 20 min., although we had a reservation to which we arrived just in time, while HALF THE RESTAURANT WAS EMPTY!!! The singing is ridiculously load, we put napkins in our ears and STILL... The meals are ok, also pretty expensive. Safety seems to be good, but I will not come back to the place until the incredible noise will be dimmed down. It makes no sense to take care of your stomach and let them literally damage your ears.

We visited here twice, once for lunch and once for breakfast. Both times were great. There were great options for me that were GF and for my family who were not. Everyone thought the food was delicious. One of our waiters was especially attentive and made sure that my plate came out with the GF flag.

We visited for dinner on our last night in New York. Most of the evening menu can be made gluten free, or is gluten free (all milk shakes and desserts are gluten free). Food came quickly, was nice, no complaints. Be warned though that it is very noisy at night as they now have singing servers (like Ellen’s Stardust) so if you want a quiet meal I’d suggest you try one of their other venues.

Take this review with a grain of salt:
I had a controversial experience at Friedman’s. It is totally plausible that the experience I had was because of low moral and the hit the restaurant industry felt during and after the pandemic. I understand that Friedman’s is a pillar for NYC GF dining and accommodations, and I have had positive experiences in the past.
My most recent visit, I communicated all my needs, stated the word “celiac”, and ordered a gluten free bun for my burger. It came to the table without the iconic flag, and had I been a newly diagnosed person I think I would have eaten it no questions asked. Because I’ve been living with celiac for ten years, I immediately knew that this was wrong. When we brought it to the attention of the staff, their reaction was lukewarm at best. I was dumbfounded, especially because Friedman’s is renowned for their GF accommodations.
Needless to say, it put a bad taste in my mouth and I am reluctant to go back.

Great pancakes! Mac and cheese was a little too cheesy for my daughter’s taste, but still good. We reserved a table for our first visit, and ate at the bar the next time. Honestly, the service at the bar was a little quicker. Great location in Times Square near TKTS booth. The non GF people enjoyed their meals as well. They ask all people if they have any allergies, and my daughter’s meals came out with a GF flag both times.

Food was great and feels very celiac safe, but something to be aware of is that this location has singing servers. We didn’t know this ahead of time and while we found it to be a silly surprise, if you’re looking for a place where you can have a conversation over dinner, pick a different Friedman’s location. Oh and I’m like 98% sure they use feel good foods frozen potstickers, so unless you live somewhere you can’t get those at the grocery store they’re really not worth ordering.

This is truly a MUST for anyone who is GF! I sat at the bar and asked for the GF menu and the server said “you’re in the right place!” I had a turkey burger and fries. Simple foods that exploded in flavor! I am also DF, so choices were more limited. The avocado aioli sauce was a treat on my burger. I can’t wait to go back one last time before I leave NY.

Definitely recommend with a HUGE caveat: it is just too, too loud. We dined on a night w/ singing waitstaff and the noise/volume made the meal miserable for us. We just ate as fast as we could to get out. A couple of us wanted to try the GF desserts, but we could not bear the volume. The GF fried chicken & waffles was really good but there was no way to enjoy it with the volume of the singing being what it was. I would definitely recommend eating here if need GF — they have so many options that you usually cannot get when you dine out — but would urge you to go at a time/day when they DO NOT have singing waitstaff.

What a lovely atmosphere to immerse into the NYC vibe. Our server was very familiar with the gluten free items or how to make things gluten free. Friedman’s is awesome. Nearly everything on their menu is naturally gluten free, there are only a few items that contain gluten. They have a lot of options to choose from!!! Servers are very knowledgeable about allergies and the menu. They mark your meal with an allergen stick/flag so the kitchen knows what to avoid cross-contamination wise. It wouldn’t be a trip to NYC for me if I didn’t visit a Friedman’s at least once!!!

I am celiac. I had BLAT sandwich and subbed sweet potato fries for the chips because they have a GF Fryer. Food was good, what you would expect from an upscale diner. Busy place so best to get a reservation any time or day. There are spaces at the bar if you walk in. Wait staff was knowledgeable. Nearly everything on the menu can be done GF.
