Yes, they have gluten free crust for an extra $3.00-4.00. The only topping available is cheese. I question cross contamination with the sauce and cheese. My 9 year old who usually will eat gluten free pizza took one bite and said nasty. Yes, I ate most of the pizza, it was edible, but I will not eat it again. Not sure if it was just my experience, but I thought I would warn you before spending $15 for a cheese pizza.
The original Fuel was founded by new york transplants who wanted to bring their favorite style of pizza to charlotte. they opened in an old 1930s filling station and the concept really took off. now you can find Fuel's gluten-free pizza in multiple locations around n.c. and D.c. try the Bacon and Bleu, topped with smoky carolina bacon and bleu cheese, which packs a punch.
They offer gluten-free pizzas on Smart Flour Foods pizza crust and stock Daiya and GF beers for those interested. All but three of their specialty pizzas can me made gluten-free and all ingredients (minus the meatballs) can be selected from their make-your-own menu. I found the pizza to be solid by GF standards, but not the absolute best I've had. The location is conveniently located near the White House, National Mall and the Farragut Square metro station. Ok, the food is good! BUT... Huge BUT... we waited 28 minutes for our regular pizza and our gluten free pizza was out after 38 minutes. We were told 20 minutes. They didn't apologize until I complained. The kitchen had food sitting out all over the place the entire time we were there (I'm a microbiologist so I pay attention to those things ). Last time we ate this location, they brought us out a regular pizza and said it was gluten free, we knew it wasn't and sent it back to wait a long time for the right one to come out. This is a location specific problem! We eat at others with no complications. Avoid avoid avoid! FYI a mellow mushroom is going in next door. Never had a problem at one of those.
Great pizza, and the classic topping choices make it stand out. I had the bacon and bleu, which had a delicious and surprising amount of bacon and bleu cheese. If you're looking for more creative toppings I'd try Ella's or Pi Pizza down the street, but this is definitely a great place to sit outside and enjoy a slice or two.
My daughter and I went here today. The pizza was good... Most the servers were friendly, save for one girl at the register. The cheese and pepperoni were good, not out of this world. But I have to say for gluten-free pizza this was pretty darn good. I think we'll be back.
Worst order out experience ever! Should have realized after I was hung up on 2 previous times that it wasn't going to be a pleasant experience. They took down my hotel address incorrectly. I waited over 30 min to find out they didn't deliver to my address. Manager was not willing to work w/me. Being gluten free & ordering delivery isn't easy.
