Amazing GF food. Menu had a large selection of GF items that were clearly marked. Waitstaff proactively asked if anyone was gluten free prior to taking orders. Brought out a basket of GF bread. It was an enjoyable experience and the food was fantastic.
My husband and I both have Celiac. This is the first restaurant that tasted like authentic Italian food and didn’t get either of us sick! The food was amazing! We will definitely be visiting this establishment again next time we are in Philadelphia.
So many GF options as well as bread. The food was incredible! Our whole party of 7 loved the food. Our waitress was the best. We did show up at 4pm and they already had the tables blocked for reservations but were able to accomodate as long as we were out before the reservation.
This was a delicious, quaint, albeit loud restaurant. All apps we're gluten free, had numerous versions of schaar gf pasta and even gf bread so I didn't have to watch everyone else eat theirs. Bring your own wine! Very good for small groups up to 6-8, make a reservation!
I was excited to come here to try the GF pizza. Unfortunately they didn’t have any gluten free crusts available that night, which was disappointing but not terrible since basically the entire menu is gluten free. I got the pesto pasta, which was okay. They also advertise a gluten free chocolate cake but it’s not actually cake, it’s more like a block of fudge. I might go back to try the pizza, but overall it didn’t wow me.
Owner is Italian with very heavy accent he's either a Celiac or just Gluten intolerant, either way he has a separate kitchen for gluten. Come hungry, because like your Italian grandma, they will stuff you! And if on the off chance you're still hungry, order the flourless chocolate cake.
Had dinner there recently on a Sunday evening. Fortunately we had reservations as there was a waiting line. Great food and good prices for center city but the place is so small that the staff has to squeeze in between chairs, and the noise level was so high we could not carry on a conversation. If that doesn't bother you then go. I wish I had known this before going as I would have chosen somewhere else. I could not enjoy my food - they seem to be knowledgeable and offered gf bread when I asked. I did not have pasta since it was so busy I was afraid of some mistake in the preparation. I just ordered what would be normally gluten free. Make reservations and try to go at an off time if there is such a thing.
Cross contamination issues everywhere! The main restaurant was full so they seated us at their more casual location on the corner which cannot accommodate gf pizzas. They use the same wooden board to slide pizzas in and out of the same oven surface in BOTH restaurants! I had to cancel my pizza
This place was adorable and had amazing food. Not to mention they had gluten free bread for before the meal. The staff was very aware of gluten free and vegan options on their menu and the kitchen makes each meal in a separate pan so there is no cross contamination. Almost everything on the menus can be made gluten free which was a nice change.
Delicious dinner. Pleasantly surprised to see that most of the menu is GF. They get their bread daily from a GF bakery in the city. Multiple pieces were brought to the table along with an individual container of oil and there was no up charge for it! Eating out is always a little scary. The waitress absolutely got the GF issue. Made us feel so much better about it. The owner stopped by a couple of times to see how we were. We will definitely be back.
Exceptional! We went twice during our visit to philly. I can't say enough about the food. Great service as well , almost everything can be made gluten free. Prices are reasonable portions are large quality is fantastic everything is fresh and cooked to order.
Get the pasta!!! So good. Great service and the owner checks in on you periodically. The GF bread was awesome. Bread at an Italian place that I can eat? Yay! Be prepared to leave FULL only downside it gets loud. It's very busy. Make a reservation but u still might wait a few mins. Next time I'll go on a week night early. 8:30 on a Saturday night is bustling!!!!
LOVED Giorgio on Pine! Small space and a little loud but not too bad. Nearly the entire menu is gluten free, which is such a welcome change from most restaurants. They also offer gluten free bread (not the best I've had but good for sopping up sauce) and gluten free dessert options. I asked for the gorgonzola cream sauce that was on special to be added to gluten free penne and to add shrimp and some broccoli/spinach. They created my special request dish with no questions asked and it was wonderful! (It was so good that when I was full after eating only half, my non-GF husband finished it!) A friend had the parmesan crusted pork chop that was on special and it was amazing as well. For dessert I chose the lemoncello sorbet - gluten free and amazing! The service was very good as well. Our waiter had a thick accent so we had to listen very carefully but he was happy to repeat and explain things and not only did he remember that I'm gluten free, he remembered that my friend said she had a peanut allergy (only an issue on the desserts that contain nuts). I will definitely go back to Giorgio on Pine!
Small, loud, fun, buzzing Italian... With an entire menu to pick from! I had Parmesian Crusted Chicken, friends had salmon. delicious sides of kale and krispy potatoes. There was also a broad menu of Schar pastas prepared in their house made sauces. Schar bread delivered to the table with my own olive oil for dipping. BYOB
This place is fantastic!!! My non-GF friends I had with me very much enjoyed their non-GF dishes and I LOVED my GF dish. Our waiter actually combined two dishes just for me because I couldn't decide between two. This place is worth every penny and the walk (however far it may be) I only wish I could bring it home with me! :-)
As a NYC native I am picky about my Italian food, Giorgio's did not disappoint! My in-laws loved their non-gf dishes and were actually jealous of all the GF options we had to choose from. The owner seated us and explained that all the items on the back of their menu were GF, our waiters were also very knowledgeable and helpful. Once we informed them that my wife and I were GF they brought out special gluten free bread for the table (at no additional charge!). The GF shellfish and Brown Rice Ziti entrées were both Delicious! Each dish was large enough to share, although my Father did finish his. After stuffing our faces I insisted on ordering desert, their GF option was flourless chocolate cake, which actually tasted more like a decadent fudge, yum! Everything was fantastic and if you are in Philly you need to eat here. FYI: BYOB
Loved this restaurant! We went out for a nice dinner on our visit to Philly and I'm so glad we picked Giorgio on Pine. My son was very happy with his GF bread and pizza. The rest of us absolutely loved our dinners-ravioli, Parmesan crusted pork chops-it was all so good.
This place is truly amazing. The food was amazing. I sat down and the first thing the waitress asked me (after she said hello) was if I was gluten free. I told her yes and she explained the menu to me, even though it is all clearly marked (which I appreciated). she let me look it over then came back and I swear I almost cried when they brought out the bread to start. I thought it was a mistake and almost reminded her I can't eat bread, but as she set it down she told me it was gluten free and it was so good!! I had the muscles and clams in garlic cream sauce to start and it was delicious. I then had the fussili and oh my Lord it was so delicious, it even had the texture of wheat flour pasta!! The staff was VERY friendly and once I was done i asked for a box. what made the meal even more special was that I went to the bathroom and when I came back they had given me a free piece of chocolate cake. I really had to try not to cry in the restaurant. I never thought I'd be able to go out and eat bread before my meal, go out snd eat delicious pasta and Italian food. other restaurants I feel like such a bother asking for a gf menu or discussing my allergy. I even had a potluck in my class later that night and had been dreading being surrounded by food I couldn't it, but it didn't matter because I had such a wonderful experience. it was raining all afternoon but I was beaming walking back to the train station.
My boyfriend had a job interview in Philadelphia. After a long day of traveling and very little food, we wanted to grab a meal before getting on our flight home. The atmosphere won us over the minute we walked in the door. The food and the service solidified our love for this establishment. Before the word Celiac left my lips our amazing waitress brought GF bread and Olive Oil. Our appetizer of sautéed calamari, was the best either of us had ever had. Finished our meal with Margarita Pizza for me and a gluten filled ziti dish for him. As an Italian food lover, he said it was the best pasta he's ever had. We left with full stomachs and happy souls and swore to return next time we are in the city.
I had the best gluten free meal in a long time at this place! Gluten free bread arrived at the table, complete with my own olive oil for dipping. I had gluten free pasta with seafood, a blackened Caesar salad, and crème brulee for dessert! They had a separate menu, an entire page, and it listed the brand of gluten free pasta, and brand of gluten free pizza dough. This made it easy for looking up ingredients! They really seemed to take pride in providing an awesome dining experience - and going out of their way to cater to my dietary issues! And they were also quite nice with my son's vegetarian diet! Did I mention that they had 4 different desserts that were gluten free???
Gluten free menu full of pizza and pasta options. Waiter asked if anyone had food allergies right away. They even bring out gluten free bread and olive oil. I ordered the pizza and my gluten free friend ordered pasta both of us enjoyed our meals and did not have a reaction. Will defiantly be going back :)
