What an amazing find!
I took risks here because it so well reviewed.
Tried a little bit everything hoping not to get sick.
I tried gluten-free pan seared chicken dumpling, gluten-free chicken lo mein, gluten-free General Tso’s, & gluten-free orange chicken.
I didn’t get sick! The food was full of flavor.
My favorite was the dumplings and lo mein.
Wouldn’t have been able to eat inside, the resturant was freezing. All the employees were dressed for winter. The kitchen is very accessible you can see all the cooking and preparation.
This place was out of the world amazing! My son and I had the pan fried chicken dumplings with a spicy sauce and the sesame chicken and left no crumbs. I wish this wasn’t a ferry ride a way because this would be my go to place for Chinese. They told me they have one in SI with fried chicken and I will definitely check it out next time I am in the city. People are nice and the place is clean.
A bit hard to find but the gf dumplings were worth the wait!! The gf lo mein needed more flavor or sauce but so amazing they have a gf menu.
I had the chicken and cabbage dumplings steamed and fried as well as their boba, they seriously brought me back to my childhood. My partner tried both the regular and gluten free pan fried dumplings and preferred the gluten free ones! The portions were perfect and roughly $10 per person. The boba was good but the pearls were a bit hard for my tastes. Overall love this place, if I lived here I would go all of the time!
We were near the area, hungry for food and had been craving Asian food when we came across this gem! So nice to have some gf dumplings and noodles! The noodles were thick like udon, cooked al dente, in a tasty sauce. There were other offerings, as well, and frankly, I wanted one of each! Talked with the staff and they were very conscious about cc and have a separate prep area for gf food. I suspect a separate fryer, as well, but I didn't ask. The place is more of a take-out space, with several customers in and out while we were there, but there were a few tables, and since we live a little far, we sat down to eat. They were very nice and accomodating. Will definitely be back, for certain!
This is my go to for takeout and delivery. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. They take great care of cross contamination and even ordering third party online for delivery, I have never had an issue (severe celiac). They are the only restaurant I trust to order online and get it right.
The dumplings are to die for! Pan fried or soup is my go to style, however they can also steam and they’re fabulous too! Additionally they now have a wide range of entrees (like orange chicken or beef and broccoli) and boba tea that is all gluten free and delicious.
If I could rate multiple times or more stars I would. The level of care they take for your food is astounding.
Haven’t had GF dumplings in ages. Very tasty and nice texture. Small little take out place with a few tables and chairs and nothing fancy. But worth the stop for something so hard to find GF!! Would be a regular customer if they were closer to home. Very friendly service and there was no language barrier.
Everything was great - what a treat! Great service. Not the kind of place they expect many will dine in, but we arrived with a party of 4 and they graciously accommodated us. Do try the dessert dumplings as well - red bean and date is soooo good.
They have gluten free dumplings and lo mein - extremely difficult to find at Chinese restaurants. The owner has celiac disease so they are very sensitive to the needs of a gluten free diet, and the dumplings and buns are authentic (I lived in China for three years) and excellent. The restaurant itself is a “hole in the wall” but it was an amazing and unexpected find.
This is Small Chinese takeout restaurant.
They offer the only gluten free dumplings I have been able to find at any restaurant. They have both pork and vegetable that come in orders of 8 or 20 piece.
The dumplings can come steamed, fried or in a soup.
They also have gluten free noodles (rice noodles) that can be used in either lo mein or soup. Their larger noodles were the best rice noodles I’ve ever had. They held their form through cooking and had a great chew to them.
When I specified gluten free, they asked if i was a celiac so they could take the proper measures. I had no side effects from eating here.
I stopped here both before and after my ferry trip from New London, CT to Orient Point, NY. The person working behind the counter informed me they are expanding their gluten free offerings in a new menu test in the coming weeks (I visited on 8/16 and 8/20/23)
I will definitely make a point to visit here whenever I am in the area.
