My sister and I both have celiac and we’re so excited and surprised by the variety and quality of the gluten free foods. We got lunch, breakfast the next day, and some amazing big cinnamon rolls to take back home. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that wants quality, safe gluten free foods.
This is the BEST (dedicated) Gluten free restaurant / bakery I have ever been to. There is a sign on the door that prohibits outside food or drink from the establishment to prevent gluten from entering the building. The owners are so friendly and knowledgeable, the menu is diverse, and the food is FANTASTIC! I wish we had one near me!
My family loves it here. This restaurant has a pretty extensive breakfast and lunch menu with so many different options. If you’re dairy free, let them know! I asked about dairy free options, and the server brought out a copy of their menu that highlights which dishes are dairy free and which ones can be made dairy free. I was so impressed with the many options. They also have cupcakes and baked treats. We can’t wait to go back.
Delicious food from a restaurant that tastes like a “regular” restaurant. Other than the giant green signs, it doesn’t scream GF. There’s a big variety of breakfast and lunch dishes. We had our dog with us so we’re on the patio - otherwise a GF beer would have gone perfectly with our western and cheesesteak sandwiches.
We loved the Rueben, Chicken fried steak and cream puff! Everything is safe and tasty. We will return.
Two years later fried cod fish and onion rings are still a favorite. Cinnamon rolls, cookies & pies to go. Very friendly helpful waitress.
So much variety on their menu!
My wife's breakfast sandwich was fine, my burrito wasn't great. Not very tasty, only had a couple bites. Asked for uncured bacon in it, no dice. Ordered coffee with creamer and sugar, we got the extra creamer, no sugar. One of the creamer packets had been poked open, so everything had creamer in it. Asked for.two sets of utensils, only got one.
Now, this was a delivered meal, but still...we're not coming back.
The food was good. We ate lunch and purchased baked goods. It was wonderful to eat onion rings that used a fluffy batter instead of dry breading. Our only complaint was the service was not good. We arrived a half hour before closing and had three staff walk past us numerous times without acknowledging us. It took ten minutes to greet and seat us. Then when we went to the counter to purchase baked goods it took another ten minutes to be served. Multiple staff walked by saying we’d be helped eventually. It wasn’t even busy. We did not walk away feeling valued as a customer. We won’t return.
You won't get sick from gluten but the food quality and service is terrible.
We went daily when we vacationed in Tuscon. We loved the vegan breakfast burrito and ciabatta. Our girls had the silver dollar pancakes and eggs and bacon daily. The cookies are to die for. The biscotti was also very good. The cupcakes are amazing- my favorite were the nutcracker and chocolate decadence. They also have gluten free pizza dough and pie crust available.
We've been coming here occasionally since soon after they opened. Occasionally meaning we don't live here, but do happen to pass through, or stay nearby for a few days. This dedicated GF restaurant is a Must for us. Delicious GF meals, and great wait staff. Lots of fresh and frozen items to take with.
My husband is gluten free/dairy free/ corn free/nightshade free. Hands down the best gluten free dining experience we’ve ever had! Amazing food and baked goods! The staff was beyond helpful & so knowledgeable about ingredients in all of their products. My husband finally was able to enjoy food again without reacting. Lastly - The prickly pear cupcake was amazing!
I have been a customer of "the Girls", Susan and Mary, since they opened more than a dozen years ago. This is my go-to place in Tucson. No place, including anywhere I've ever traveled to, rivals their quality and variety. Amazing food and great service. The cupcakes are wonderful of course, but they offer so much more. The best breads you will find anywhere -- especially the French bread and baguettes! Service staff is warm and friendly. Totally GF. Love this place!
Love idea of a gf sweet shop but the cakes were way too sweet for me. I never went back
Not from Tucson, but this place makes me wish I was. Everything was gluten free and the options are amazing. Had eggs Benedict and my daughter had Challa French toast. We took home the pecan rolls, garlic bread and cupcakes. Delicious! Many of the options were also vegan, which is great!
I've been eating at Gourmet Girls for years and just realized I've never written a review. Bad Gene! The quality and variety of meals is just amazing. Mary must have some magic GF pixy dust she sprinkles on everything. I can't imagine how else she does it. 😉 And of course no worries because everything is GF. Do be sure to check their hours since they aren't open for dinner. Be there on time and you won't regret it.
Wow, just wow!!! Gourmet Girls was awesome! I have celiac and it felt so great to be able to order whatever I wanted on the menu knowing it is safe. They were also able to accommodate my husband who can’t have dairy or eggs, and he was able to have a safe meal too. They also had an incredible variety of breads, cupcakes, and other pastries to choose from. They had a very small selection of vegan sweets, so my husband definitely wishes there were more vegan treat choices. So glad to have found this gem passing through the area on my road trip!
I have been going here for years now. So much so that the staff know my family's names and recognize our voice in the phone. Everything here is specifically gluten safe and they also have many dairy-free menu options (as I can't have that either). They know me so well that, if I mistakenly order something with dairy, they will unprompted redirect me to something I may like in place or recommend a suitable modification.
We don't live close to this place (the other side of town) but we make the drive just to eat their food. I also get my birthday pecan pie from here every year. Yum!!!
This was our first time at the restaurant and we loved it (husband is not gf and really enjoyed his meal too) Our waitress was amazing and she answered my questions about food in regards to my celiacs, soy free and also wheat allergy. It was very nice not to get the usual strange looks like at other restaurants. The whole restaurant is dedicated gluten free but they also cater to other allergies. Hubby had the Italian sandwich with cucumber salad and I had the Reuben on ciabatta with their homemade chips. We also took some flatbread and French baguette to go. They had a big selection of pastries, breads, pizza crust and other bakery items to purchase. For the first time in 3 years I was able to eat out without fear. We also mentioned that I found the restaurant on findmeglutenfree and she gave us $5 of our total for mentioning that. Very nice gesture and we will be back for sure. They serve breakfast and lunch. I highly recommend this wonderful place
This place is not cheap but worth it. I had the Ruben with onion rings for lunch. I have not had one in over 10 years since going GF. There were other options you don't see at other GF restaurants.Picked up some extra large cupcakes and a frozen pizza pocket on the way out. can't go wrong here.
It’s great not to worry! However found food to be very bland. Got fish and chips with onion rings. How can onion rings be bland? Husband had pulled pork. Again bland. I’m torn about coming back, not buying any bakery but I really really like the idea of not having to have to worry.
Every city needs a Gourmet Girls! So nice to eat in a place where everything on the menu is gluten free. There are also tons of dairy free options as well. I had pancakes, fruit and bacon. My husband had baked oatmeal and eggs. All from the All Day Breakfast menu. So many sandwich and entree options along with desserts!
The food is delicious, even my non gluten free boyfriend thought it was amazing. So nice to have a completely dedicated gf restaurant available
Breakfast was excellent. Very tasty. Definitely will go back if we visit the area again. Coffee was excellent as well. Local coffee roaster. Bakery items looked tasty.
Everything was yummy and fresh! I wish I had bought more pita bread for my freezer!
Go for breakfast, come back for lunch, wish they were open for dinner. Get the onion rings. They are gf beer-battered perfection. The staff is very kind. The baguettes rival GF bakeries in Paris. (Take home and toast it if you want a crisp crust, the inside is just right- have mercy on desert bakers, it would go stale instantly in this climate if they did otherwise.) The sugar cookies are as pretty as a picture book, with an aftertaste of fiore di sicilia, not rice flour. I couldn’t tell they were gf.
We’re from out of town and we come to visit our son and his girlfriend which introduced us to this place. Now we come here every time we’re in town. The food is amazing!! I’m not a sweet tooth person but the chocolate chip cookies are to die for!!! We also have them bring me food when they come home! There are no gluten free restaurants where we live much less dedicated so this is a blessing for me! I have celiac disease and super sensitive!
