We contacted the executive chef ahead of time to discuss what options there are for someone who has celiac disease. We were told that they have gluten free pasta, gf buns, and gf flour on hand so that most anything can be made gluten free. We were also told the fryer has never had gluten in it. My daughter had buttered noodles and french fries, and we made sure the waiter knew it needed to be gluten free. He even brought out an allergy binder for us to review, but overall he seemed unsure of how gluten free meals were prepped and handled. Three hours later and she was vomiting. She spent the rest of the night throwing up. She’s 9 and a trip to the waterpark was supposed to be her Christmas gift. Instead she had an awful night. After speaking with management and the executive chef the next morning, it was determined that they gave her regular noodles. We were supposed to have been given an allergy card to fill out while ordering and that was never offered to us. Six years of being gluten free and this was our first restaurant glutening, third glutening overall. They were apologetic. I asked them to take her meal off our bill and to re-train employees. They ended up taking off all of our meals which was nice but our main goal is not letting this happen to other kids. We ended up picking up food from Meijer for lunches in our room, and going to the Outback next door for dinner.
