I'm a somewhat newly diagnosed celiac and had a week work trip to Portland recently. I went here the first day, the food and drink are both SO good, and I didn't get sick at all. So I ate (and drank) here two more times again during the trip, still never got sick, and thoroughly enjoyed everything there. The entire place is completely gluten free, and they also substituted in non-dairy cheese for me. I highly recommend going well out of your way to visit here! And my colleagues without gluten issues also loved everything!

Because many who have an auto-immune disease, celiac disease, or gluten allergies also have other food allergies, we brew our beer without soy or corn. We list the full ingredient list on the side of every can, and use only gluten-free malts and grains.
Our entire facility is dedicated gluten free. Nothing containing gluten is permitted or used on the premises, in the brewery or the kitchen.
If you haven't been here since pre-pandemic, note: the menu has changed. They now have a gluten free permanent pop up operating in their kitchen. Check their website for more info!
The best staff, beer, food (shoutout SalviPDX) and atmosphere. My favorite GF spot in Portland!!

Thank you for coming in and for your support Jessica!
Delicious beer! The food is alright, so if you're coming here, come for the beer. My fried chicken was very yummy (slightly overbreaded & overcooked), husband's pupusas were bland. Beer gets a 10/10, and is worth the trip for that alone.

Nice relaxed atmosphere! Amazing selection of beer(9 on tap)all GF. You can get a flight of them all to taste. My husband (non celiac) had one of the dark beers and said it was delicious, he wouldn’t have known it was gluten free. The food was great, all GF. El Salvadoran, I think. It’s was fun to be out and be able to try something different and not worry about getting sick. You order the food by QR code at your table. Food is by Salvi PDX but is all made on site. I got a 6 pack of beer to go as well. I will definitely be back.

There is no gluten allowed in this facility. it is dedicated gluten free, including the food.
The beer selection rotates and they have 9 fresh beers on tap, with many more available in cans to take home. They also do 25% off growler fills on Fridays! It is heaven. The beers are SO GOOD.

Incredibly surprised in a great way.
Beer was delicious. Good options for all styles and tastes.
Food provided by Honey Butter Country Fare. Limited menu - corn dog/bratwurst was only entree - but what they do, they do well. Side salad was simple and really tasty. And FUNNEL CAKE.
Definitely returning next time through Portland.

They have closed their kitchen. They only do a reheat pizza from the local gluten free bakery. 😥

The review below me is wrong. I think they meant But House Saloon. groundbreaker is still very much dedicated.

I have one of their beers for take out. They have outside seating available that follows the 6 feet distance requirement. I am very curious to try their food options next time.
My sister and I ate here on our sister date around Christmas when I was home for the holiday. So super celiac friendly, right down to the note on the door, asking for non gluten free foods to remain outside the establishment for the safety of their celiac and NCGS patrons. They were out of a few of the things we wanted, but what we ended with was worth it. I had the taster of the dark ale (lightweight here) and absolutely loved it...they have their own GF microbrewery...and I was super excited when I found their beer behind security at the airport on my way home since I hadn't picked any up while there. Worth my time and energy to make a trip back there the next time I'm home in Portland.

It's so nice to go to a dedicated gf place and have options! Anything on the menu is fair game and fabulous, my partner ordered the buttermilk fried chicken bowl and I had the Cubano, both were delicious. Definitely recommend

Nice place to get a gluten-free beer. I enjoyed the BBQ chicken plate.

Beer is excellent. It's a unique recipe and they do smashing good job at a biscuity pale ale and dark ale.
Service is a little strange sometimes. I don't feel like the bartenders like me.
For food, there's a wide basic American menu. I'm not sure why they do things like offer potato chips with your burger and then bring them in a bowl before the meal like an appetizer. No fries? It is dedicated gluten free and I appreciate the NO GLUTEN allowed signs.

Went for dinner with my family, very rude server. Small menu and not a lot of option . We waited for probably 20 minutes before someone came to take our order. Went on a Wednesday at 5:00pm for dinner and most of the things we tried to order they did not have available. Paid $75.00 for food that we did not enjoy. Definently would not come back again

100% gluten free restaurant. I am a regular here. I come every week at least once!! The food is amazing, they are always changing up the menu, the staff is so friendly, and I feel at home when I eat here. I walk out with a happy and full tummy every time!!

Pros: I didn't get glutened. Cons: I got FOOD POISONING. On vacation. I had been looking forward to our visit for months and was expecting an experience similar to Ghostfish in Seattle (which is 5 stars in every way). Unfortunately, the service and food terrible. No one in there was remotely friendly. I agree with another reviewer that the bartender doesn't know how to pour a stout-like beer. She should watch some Guinness youtube videos. The beer should fill more than 2/3 of the glass, especially when you take more than 5 minutes to pour it. I ate the chile con carne and my husband had a cubano (which is nothing like a real cubano; I'm from Florida and ate the real thing regularly until my celiac dx). I can't recommend highly enough that you avoid this place. Go anywhere else and save yourself the misery of food poisoning.

If you can get the fried chicken, GET IT! I had the fried chicken bowl (only available at lunch) and it was delicious. Too many IPAs for my taste but the food alone is worth it. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable and she has Celiac herself.
Yes
Love it here! Everything is GF. I get the dark Nitro beer. The warm chocolate chip cookies are wonderful with the maple gelato...I make ice cream sandwiches with them. So delicious. They serve fried chicken on Sunday afternoons.
Yes
No stars because no seats! We were turned away because they were full and I was really dissappointed with the snooty way we were informed that a reservation was needed. Would have been nice to know!
So awesome. Hubs has ~50 allergies and our servers suggested several options that were safe. The kombucha was the best I’ve ever had — and the pulled pork tacos were incredible!!!

Because this is a dedicated facility, I gave it another star. The food was really weird. We had the shrimp toast which tasted like chicken salad. I felt like I was in the 80’s because all of the mayonnaise and celery. I ordered a BBQ sandwich and it was tender, but not a typical BBQ sandwich. I also ordered a pickle with it and it wasn’t even a pickle. They gave me the grossest pickled vegetables I’ve ever had in my life. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever had vinegar vegetables before. I ordered a dark nitro beer which they call a pint, but it was never filled up. Desert Bread pudding was good. In conclusion, it was bad. Normally don’t complain, but we will not be back.

Super friendly and attentive staff. COMPLETELY gluten free zone/menu. Really delicious food and gf beer. Family friendly environment with kids menu.

Was only in Portland for a few days but came here twice! Absolutely love the " No gluten allowed" sign on the door - makes me feel just that much safer even though I already know is it a dedicated gf facility. Call ahead to see which days they are serving the fried chicken because it is amazing. This was the first time I had eaten fried chicken since being diagnosed and it tasted so good I almost cried tears of joy. And the warm chocolate chip cookies are incredible, a little pricey but delicious.

100% gf including beer!! Beer was closest to “normal” as I’ve ever had and the food was outstanding!!

I have been to this place twice. It may be gf but expensive and the food was near to awful. The hot pastrami—how can you go wrong with pastrami?—sucked the taste out of my mouth.
Yes
Love this place. Best sour dough. Could add more dumplings in the chicken and dumplings but still very delicious. Best fried chicken Sunday deal but the sides that come with it can be odd at times, the chicken and waffle combo I never got to try but I want to. Overall great place
Yes
They are a dedicated gluten free kitchen/brewery. I am gluten free and dairy free. The staff immediately knew what substitutes to make on the menu so I could order what I wanted for lunch. They had a porter style beer when I was there, it was great.
