I got the pork rice and it was delicious! Most of the menu is gluten free anyway, which is very reassuring. Great spot to pick up food to take out.
What a treat to find delicious dedicated GF food for our teenage son who has celiac! He has been pining for decent popcorn chicken and teriyaki tofu ever since his diagnosis. We may have to come back to Seattle just to get this food again!
I love this place, it's the only chicken teriyaki I eat. I've always felt great though admittedly it's kind of a hole in the wall. Technically a window perch for one or two to eat but it's really for takeout. I have also enjoyed the popcorn chicken.
At Hangry Panda we are proud to offer allergy conscious Asian cooking from scratch.
We are a nut-free and seafood-free kitchen.
We have an extensive gluten free menu including teriyaki, fried chicken sandwiches, Asian street eats, and bubble tea.
The only menu items that contain gluten are:
1. Fried Chicken Sandwiches - the buns are made with wheat but we have a gluten free bun option
2. Sesame Scallion Noodle Nest - uses wheat noodles
Cross Contamination:
While we are not a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, we take several precautions to avoid cross contamination.
1. We do not use wheat flour, instead substituting gluten free flours such as rice flour and sweet potato starch.
2. Our food is cooked on dedicated gluten-free equipment, including our fryers and grill.
3. Dishes containing gluten are assembled in a separate area of our kitchen. Wheat buns are heated on a dedicated toaster oven. Wheat noodles are heated in a dedicated pot.
4. Orders that have a gluten allergy indicated are prepared with extra care to avoid cross contamination.
AMAZING! I’m Taiwanese and it’s always so disappointing to never find my cultural food, but this place is legit. I can’t describe it but the vibe of this place is authentic, not to mention the food is also delicious and authentic! This is the first place I’ve seen a tea egg on a menu that is naturally gluten free. I’m so impressed as a traveller visiting Seattle! We brought our food to a nearby lake (about 5 mins away) and had a great time. Only 3 items on the menu are not gluten free, however one is a sauce that’s avoidable, one is a chicken sandwich (which you can make gf), and the last is a noodle dish. Everything else is safe, including the boba and the fried food as there is a dedicated fryer. Give this local business some support!
My partner has a serious gluten allergy and had a severe reaction tonight from eating the chicken teriyaki and French fries.
The food and drinks are really good. The restaurant is a real hole-in-the-wall, with only four seats in the window. Plan for take-out or delivery. Our family of six ended up eating in the car on our way back home.
Our family has wonderful memories of boba from the days B.C. (Before Celiac). We even found GF tapioca pearls so we could cook then from time to time ourselves and make our own. So when we learned about a GF boba shop only 90 minutes from our home, we made our plans to visit.
The website has the GF menu, which includes information on cross-contamination risk. They've taken the time to analyze where cross contamination could possibly happen.

The menu is a bit limited, but the food is delicious, and the drinks are even better. I loved the Panda tea - it tasted like a salty sesame Oreo cookie. Weird, but it worked. The food all seemed familiar enough that no one was put off, but unique enough to not be boring. The kids all got the fried chicken sandwich, my husband got teriyaki and I got the pork belly. The portions are good - everyone is full and we have leftovers. Service was friendly and fast.
The space is not great. It looks like a warehouse - I've never seen a restaurant with so little ambiance. Having said that, I see us stopping off here regularly when driving through Seattle in the future. And maybe even an occasional picnic in a Seattle park or the playground by the zoo after picking food up from here.
Update: This is becoming our go-to place when driving through Seattle. It's great for wrapping up a morning of city errands. We've started ordering online, putting an allergy alert for gluten on the order. There's a GF online menu, so no real risk of accidentally ordering something with gluten
Another tiny hidden gem of gluten-free heaven here in Seattle! Menu is clearly marked with the few items that are NOT gluten-free, dedicated fryer, friendly staff and knowledgable. This is our go-to for GF teriyaki take-out, and the popcorn chicken is a must-have! Of note, it's an itty-bitty little spot, so don't plan to dine in or expect a super-expansive menu. Reasonably priced and always great... would recommend!
Everything is clearly marked on the menu in store, and very FEW items are NOT gluten-free. Enough room for our party of three to wait for our food, but not enough to eat, so we enjoyed it elsewhere. No reason to be concerned about cross-contamination or waiting for an hour! Delicious food!
Super celiac friendly restaurant! Their kitchen is not completely gluten free but they have only a few items with gluten (e.g. noodles) which they say they handle in a separate space to avoid cross contamination. Their fryer is completely gf so french fries, fried tofu, etc is all celiac safe! I feel great after eating there and will definitely be going back.
Got the minced pork rice. It was delicious and had no reactions.
Joe and Lucy are AMAZING and are really wanting to support the gluten free community in Seattle. They have delicious food, have separate kitchen space (and fryer!) and very reasonable prices, not to mention they are so lovely, accommodating and kind. I would recommend to any celiac or person that is gluten sensitive!
I had the Chicken Teriyaki and the Popcorn Chicken and they were so delicious! They have a great statement explaining their cross contamination protocol and their menu has some awesome gluten free options. It was so good, I had to order from here twice during my trip!
The best vegan tofu teriyaki I've had by far. It was absolutely delicious. Everything is clearly marked and lots of options.
Nearly everything on their menu is gluten free. Chicken sandwich includes a giant slab of chicken and gf bun option, though it's Udi's and very crumbly when you try to bite into it. I usually end up eating it without the bun as it gets pretty messy. Most sides are also gf but most of the beverages have dairy in them. They use separate, dedicated equipment for their wheat-containing orders and don't use wheat flour in the kitchen.
We have one celiac member of the family and two who are gluten intolerant. Everything from Hangry Panda was delicious and no one had any reaction to the food. We really appreciate all of the precautions they take and how clearly they mark what is and is not gluten free. We will definitely order from here again!
I ordered a caramel milk tea and the cucumber salad, and got severely glutened. Can’t say for sure, but it seemed to be from the milk tea and not the cucumber salad, as I was fine until I drank the tea, and each sip made it worse. Very disappointed since I came specifically because of the gluten- free menu. I would not recommend the risk for celiacs.
Wonderful food and very knowledgeable about cross contamination! I had the tofu spicy teriyaki and wine drunk pork belly. I also had the caramel bubble tea! I am extremely sensitive and did not get sick. It's very delicious food. It had been so long since I had bubble tea that I came back the next day and got the panda milk! I highly recommend!
This is one of the unicorn restaurants that has both unbelievably great food and real knowledge about how to cater to the gluten-free crowd. I was a little hesitant to try them after I saw that they were doing away with their dedicated gluten-free prep cook, after they reported that somebody with Celiac have had a reaction. However, I've eaten here numerous times and always felt great. And the food is amazing! The Teriyaki and wine drunk pork belly are our go-tos, and the panda milk tea is so unique and delicious. One of our favorite spots in Seattle!
Joe was so friendly and helpful! Just about everything on the menu is gluten-free, and they have a dedicated frier! My husband (non-celiac) and I (celiac) ordered waffle fries, popcorn chicken, a spicy chicken sandwich, spicy teriyaki chicken, and two boba drinks, all of which was gluten free! Definitely a must-try if you’re in the area. :)
Joe and Lucy have created in the brief month they have been open a delicious menu and friendly service. They are knowledgeable and excited to help create excellent food for not just their gluten consuming customers but for those of us that need to avoid gluten. They have actually hired a person whose job is to cook the gluten free menu items. Amazing people. Please support them!
Delicious, allergen-conscious dining.
There's no two ways about it- Hangry Panda wants you to eat without any problems. They will go to absurd lengths to ensure you do not have any issues. More on that later.
There's a great gluten free menu, dedicated fryer for gf, and you can specify online if you're gluten-friendly, gluten-sensitive or celiac. They have an array of other allergen-free options you can specify on their website when you order (and on some delivery apps as well), although some options are simply not feasible; the dedicated frier is for gf items and therefore they cannot guarantee no cross-contamination with some things if you were to try ordering something egg-free and fried, for example.
I don't really begrudge them for it, as they do everything they can to guarantee you do not have any problems and will call you personally to make sure your personal intolerance is taken into account. For example, the weekend evenings are the busiest time for them, and if they cannot safely prepare your food, they will reach out to let you know instead of making you sick. (note: I listed them having a dedicated gluten free kitchen space because they are in the process of creating that space which may be in use by the time you read this review. As of right now, they do completely clean the workspace for sensitive people, I did not have a reaction.)
Food is great. It's teriyaki and fried chicken. What's not to love?
