Edit.. Went again and ordered the key lime pie from the gluten sensitive menu. When it came out I saw it has crumbs on it and asked them a third time of is really gluten free and what the crust was. Was told that the crust was indeed graham crackers, but I could just eat the insides. I had to explain how that's not possible because a knife goes through the pie when cutting so there is gluten through the entire thing. I was told that it's okay that it's on the gluten sensitive menu since it's not really a gluten free menu. Now I don't trust anything here again. --- Really good food.. Went twice without any issues. Had the scallops. They were very helpful.
This is one of my favorite restaurants pre-gluten free times. I went back last night for the first time in over a year since being gluten-free.
They have a gluten sensitive menu. There is one appetizer, the boudin balls, which need to be made with modifications. For main courses, there are a couple of salads and dressing options, a handful of fish dishes, like the mahi-mahi and redfish. There’s also grilled or blackened chicken, a ribeye, or a hamburger without a bun. Sides were white rice, some corn grits, a cream corn, and vegetables. Listed as desserts were bananas foster and Key lime pie, however, bananas foster is no longer an option. The server, while nice, did not seem to be well educated on dietary restrictions although he did seem to care about them. I am also dairy free and when I inquired about whether certain items were dairy free, he indicated they were on the gluten sensitive menu so probably. This is what made me suspect that he wasn’t very knowledgeable about dietary restrictions.
I got the blackened redfish with white rice and a side of broccoli. I requested tartar sauce. The food was tasty and I did not have any issues being glutened.
Experience was pretty good. Servers were very nice and gave us a dedicated GF menu, that’s always a big plus. The boudin balls were suspiciously crispy but were actually gluten free and really good. The key lime pie was delicious as well and the menu had a fair amount of options. My GF girlfriend enjoyed thoroughly, as did I.
Ask for the gluten sensitive menu. Good options and very specific information provided. Server was very knowledgeable and helpful. Had the blackened Mahi and sweet grits and shared the GF Boudin ball appetizer. No reaction. There were even two desserts. I didn’t have any, but my mom had the banana crème brûlée and said it was great.
ask for the GF menu, fairly wide selection. boudin balls looked suspicious when i got them but the waitress was so nice and triple checked for me that they were 100% gluten free. very crispy and delicious! i wish i had taken a picture of the gluten sensitive menu to post, but if i remember correctly there were also shrimp scampi over rice, steak, mahi mahi, blackened redfish, blackened chicken, and grilled scallops
