Was traveling for business and really wanted to find some crab since I don’t get to MD too often. The food was pretty good but they don’t include all their GF options on delivery apps which was annoying. They also charged me $1.00 extra for gluten free steamed shrimp- I’m not sure what would have been gluten on that to begin with???

All issues aside I had their Maryland Crab soup and some steamed shrimp with Old Bay. It was pretty good and I did not get sick. I’d probably try eating there over delivery next time though.

I’ve been going to Hella’s for many years now. May not be as often during Covid two years, but when it’s not busy or crowded I will. Big selection of GF separate menu just ask for it. I have found they separately make fresh GF meals then will bring out my food on separate tray so it doesn’t have any cross contamination issues. I was told by the Owner/manager they have worked with the Celiac Assoc to train their chef/staff on how to properly offer GF food with little to no cross contamination. I have never gotten sick in all the years eating there. I love having a real bacon cheeseburger or a real turkey club all with GF bread and buns and fresh products. It’s a fantastic treat. The veggies and potato salad is good too and GF.

An allergic person’s worst nightmare! They claim to be allergy friendly but I found crabmeat in my mashed potatoes. It was a major issue since I did tell them I also have a severe seafood allergy. I had to be rushed to the hospital. Later, when speaking to the manager, he told me I shouldn’t dine out if I have allergies. I wouldn’t trust this place for anything. They don’t care!

The gluten free menu has many options. The quality of the food was excellent. My wife is celiac and I'm not and we shared an order of GF calamari. It was some of the best I've had, including non GF. She had the shrimp salad sandwich and Greek salad as well, also excellent No adverse reaction. Staff was knowledgeable. Great place!

We come here often as it is a halfway point for meeting with grandparents. They have gluten free menu items, including fried calamari! My daughter and I both have celiac and have never had a reaction.

I let the waiter know while I was ordering that I have celiac disease. He assured me the staff takes it very seriously and he would make sure to let the kitchen know. I was super excited to be able to have fried calamari. My husband and I were halfway through eating it when the waiter came rushing over and told us he had accidentally brought out the wrong one and it was not gf. I know mistakes happen, and to his credit he was very apologetic and the manager comped our meal. But needless to say, I’ve spent the last couple days writhing in pain. The worst part is, it wasn’t even worth it. The food is mediocre at best.

I was surprised at the breadth of the GF menu. They made a GF crab cake for me from scratch. Almost tasted as good as a regular crab cake

Awful. The dedicated gf oil is reused and makes everything taste like spoiled fish. The server was inattentive even though the place was empty. Drink prices were decent, as were the drinks. The crabcakes were good.

Super friendly waitress and very accommodating to my gluten allergy. They have gluten free calamari, I haven’t had this in years so it was exciting. The menu is extensive and they prepare everything in a separate pan.

Omg this place is a hidden gem!!! The gluten free menu is HUGE and they said they prepare everything separately. My husband was thrilled to eat a gluten free crab cake and my daughter LOVED the grilled cheese. I even had a taste and the bread tastes fantastic!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

They were outstanding. My wife is gluten free and the crab cake it was great. They have a gluten free menu with more choices than any other place we ate at. The non-gluten free food was also excellent. 5 stars in my book.

I absolutely love the GF crabcakes! I have Celiac and I have never been sick eating here. Recently garlic bread was accidentally placed in my to go bag, and the owner brought me new food and refunded me. I have been back since and feel very safe going there.

ordered GF appetizers and we found out after eating them they were NOT GF. owner did not understand celiac implications and was not taking responsibility for the mix up (busy kitchen stuff happens) . my entree was of the daily special menu and was modified with a substitution to make it GF, it turned out good. they do have a good selection of GF seafood on the menu to choose from, however I would recommend you confirm what you received was indeed GF even though you ordered from the GF menu.

The gf crab cakes are fantastic & the gluten free menu is surprisingly large! Loved it!

The lure of a Maryland crab cake brought here. I was thirty miles away but it was certainly worth the trip. The food is excellent and I had no symptoms after. Sadly, the carrot cake has been scratched due to lack of interest. But after a crab cake sandwich on a GF bun, along with GF fries, I wouldn't have been able to eat it anyway!

We were visiting our family for the valentines weekend and so many places were completely booked. However, I had remembered our friends recommending this place but had no idea they had gluten free recommendations. I had the stuffed shrimp platter with baked potato and veggies. The stuffed shrimp combo had crab cakes made with udi bread. Delicious. And for dessert I had gluten free carrot cake. Our waiter Rich was very helpful and knowledgeable as well as one of the owners. My husband and I will be visiting again. Awesome experience!

Extensive GF menu. Gf calamari is amazing and they make gf crabcakes (fresh) that are amazing! Food was amazing all around. Service was great. The restaurant is pretty much empty every time we go but it's worth it for the food.

Mira, our waitress was very knowledgeable about gf items. They have an extensive gf menu and even have gf Maryland crab cakes. They also list gf calamari as an appetizer. I didn't order it, but certainly will next time we visit. Great place and will definitely return.

What a shock! Thank heaven for Find me Gf because we never would have thought this place would have anything Gf! Huge menu!! Staff is very helpful and the crab cake was yummy. Don't be disappointed by the lack of atmosphere, menu selection makes up for it.

Update: The restaurant now has a printed gluten free menu which is the most extensive gluten free menu I have seen; food is delicious and nicely presented. Advance notice for gluten free crabcakes is no longer necessary.

Delicious greek salad, chicken souvlaki, crab cakes, and more can be made gluten free and delicious. Owners understand cross contamination and are careful to avoid it. Their crab cakes are huge and delicious....best to call before you go to the restaurant to give them a heads-up that you plan to go there and need gluten free crabcakes.
