On 2 different days within 1 week I ate 2 different menu items from 'Flying Fare', the supposed allergen friendly food stand inside Hersheypark near the Jolly Rancher Rides. I have Celiac and need to avoid gluten. I made the mistake of trusting the "Gluten Free" wrap the "Gluten Free" Turkey BLT salad. I got very sick after each occasion. (Unfortunately, I did not realize until the 2nd occurrence that this was the source of my 'glutening' from earlier in the week. After the 2nd episode, it was an obvious connection.) DO NOT TRUST the Gluten Free wraps and salads from Flying Fare if you have a gluten allergy!! After getting sick, I was able to find the ingredients listed on their website and the 2nd ingredient in the 'gluten free wrap' is modified food starch, a well known potential source of gluten! This is terrible marketing on the part of Hersheypark's food service department. I only wish I would have researched an ingredient list prior to becoming sick 2 times. Lesson learned! On the flip side, I have eaten several times at the Spring Creek BBQ stand with no issues. Their food is fresh, delicious, mostly naturally gluten free, and when a GF item is requested, I have seen the staff there change gloves and wash hands in between orders. In my opinion, they are a much better GF choice inside the park.
