I took the advice of a previous reviewer and just spoke directly to the manager. I also placed my order separately. It took them much longer to prepare my food BUT the wait was worth it, as I did not have any reactions. I also just brought my own bun and asked for an extra side of spread.
Order "protein style" to get it wrapped in lettuce
When I ordered I told them I had celiac, and to please take precautions. Got to the window to pay, I again stressed I had celiac disease , please take precautions. Received order for take out got home all double double burgers were in the same bag( my family is not celiac). So the first time I try to eat out, and they did not take precautions or listen. I will never try In and Out Burger again
I’m a sensitive celiac and have eaten at this location over a dozen times. I ask them to mark gluten allergy on both the burger and fries so that they know to be extra careful. The manager has also offered to always ask for her and she’ll make it specifically for you. I feel safe having any staff member here make it though, based on my experience.
Awesome! The staff has a protocol they follow when you tell them of your gluten "allergy." They change their gloves, put on a second pair on top, and prepare the burgers in a separate spot. Ordered "protein style" and like others have said, doubles are definitely needed when there's no bun! Only thing I couldn't figure out is whether the spread is GF.
I really love this place! I order a 3x3 with French fries and a chocolate shake. Since the patties are kind of small, I need a 3x3 to feel like it is worth it. The fries are completely safe and so is the shake. I eat here once a week. Note: be sure to ask for no spread on your burger and if you are dining with someone else, be sure to get your GF meal in a separate bag. Us Celiacs can never be too careful!
Moved here from CA where I regularly relied on In-N-Out for my fast food option. The Culebra location went above and beyond by asking me how I wanted everything bagged (I was ordering for my entire family in which I'm the only gluten free person). The employee even let me know that they changed their gloves to prepare my order. I was impressed! Make sure you specify that you have a gluten allergy when you order your protein style burger! ENJOY!
The cashier let me know that, as a Celiac, I could safely have the protein-style burger. She wasn’t able to describe the CC measures that marking the order as “allergen” would trigger, though. She asked the kitchen manager, who just described glove changing.
As In n Out is well known for being careful with their GF customers, I felt confident ordering.
My order was served in a separate basket from my partner’s burger with bun. Didn’t even think to ask for that precaution. Good call, In n Out!
