You can get the burger on lettuce. This was the most depressing thing I’ve eaten in years. No flavor, slimy, made me feel like my intolerance leaves me a shell of a woman. Go to Culver’s if you want a gf burger on a gf bun. At least it has substance there.
When we road trip I always want a burger. We pass by so many in and outs along most of our trips to visit family. I liked how the burger was wrapped in lettuce and not made into a salad. The food was fresh, clean and very safe. Ask for a burger "protein style" and then say it's for an allergy. They make sure to wash their hands and replace gloves. They make it in a separate place in the kitchen. I ate my burger and GF fries and continued on our trip. No reaction! I'll be coming back! :)

Order "protein style" to get it wrapped in lettuce
Love their gluten free fries! Ask for protein style burger.

In-N-Out is very allergen friendly. I tell them I have celiac (or “gluten allergy”) and they put an alert on my order. They wash their hands, put on gloves and prepare the food safely. The fries are celiac friendly too which is a huge plus.
Warning-your allergy alert order should come on its own tray. One time (I have eaten safely here a dozen times) I got my order and it was on the tray alongside my husband’s burger-bun and all. That was a red flag so I inquired. Sure enough it was a new employee and the allergen alert did not get added to the ticket.
Surprisingly easy to order. Staff knew exactly what to do and were very calm and efficient about it. Food was excellent and my kids loved that they could have the fries.

I've had pretty good luck here. Just tell them protein style with a wheat allergy and they will prepare it in a different area away from the buns-they heat the buns in the grill area. Everything here is gf except for the buns.
Excellent burger wrapped in lettuce!
5/24 It’s still busy, it’s still clean, and it’s still safe. This place is always busy, but it’s clean and it’s safe.

Tell them you are gluten free and they will note it in the order. Get burgers “protein style” for a lettuce wrap instead of buns. Fries are 100% safe! Never had any issues here, just don’t forget to tell them you have a gluten allergy so they take the necessary precautions for CC

I had heard it would be safe and I was not disappointed. Dedicated fryer for fries. Burger served protein style (lettuce wrapped) and on separate tray from rest of non GF order. Employee verified gluten allergy on fries and burger order. Symptom free and first fries in 4 months!

HUGE shout out to the staff at this establishment today. This was my first dine out experience at fast food since being diagnosed with lupus and celiacs. The young lady at the register quadruple checked my order and also verified with the manager and working staff about it coming through. Then once my order came up the manager stood at the counter until it was picked up telling everyone to keep my order seperate from my son and husbands (non gluten free) order. I felt so incredibly safe and can’t say enough how much that meant to me today. Thank you
