We usually love Isaac's and go there on vacation. They have gf bread and it was an easy lunch

Went to this place after reading online that they had gluten free options. Being gluten and dairy free, I was looking forward to eating here after reading the reviews. I told the server about both of my allergies. When the food came out, the server informed me that the gluten free flatbread has cheese in it and I found out that they put the cheese that I asked not to be in the sandwich in anyway. Tried to order something else, but the salad options were limited (just lettuce and some nuts and dried cranberries) and I couldn’t eat anything else that they offered. I would have at least been okay with fries while my husband ate his sandwich, but they were out. How do you run out of fries? Left without eating a single thing. Considering how careless they were with a dairy allergy, I would be careful when it comes to gluten allergies.

GF flatbread is AMAZING!! I loved it so much that I bought some to take home. The menu is very basic, simply a build your own sandwich menu. No soups or salads are listed....but I came for the sandwiches so I didn’t ask. The chicken salad was delicious! Plus they have gf Rice Krispie treats! The waitress we had wasn’t particularly knowledgeable but was happy to ask for answers to my questions. They do prepare everything separately and I can say I ate here twice and did not get sick. Yum....next time I’m in the area I’m coming right back. And so will my non gluten free family members who also very much enjoyed their meals.
Both gf and non gf very good for what it is. Extremely knowledgable about cross contamination, had gf bread/sandwich and chips. Has a gf menu.

The staff was friendly and helpful. They gave me a special laminated sheet listing all of the gluten free offerings on the menu. I had a chicken salad sandwich on a grilled gluten-free flatbread. The food was tasty and fresh. I’ll definitely come back when I’m in this area again!

This restaurant was a treat. I could eat regular food made by someone knowledgeable about gluten free. We ate there often while on vacation. My husband and I could eat from the same menu. They were very careful in preparing (I'm very sensitive to cross contamination) Be sure to tell server you have Celiac's and as with everywhere else, it never hurts to remind them when the food comes. Can't wait to go back.
Yes
Not safe for Celiacs.
I was served what I thought to be a Gluten Free bread with my meal, but have been severely sick ever since. The hostess was nice, but our server just wanted us gone. Plus the food is not very good. We got the mac and cheese for the kids and it was barely cooked and looked like it had been sitting for a few hours. The chicken was very chewy.
I guess try a different location if you want to try Isaacs.
No
The entire chain adheres to a celiac-friendly food handling method. I heard one of their execs speak at a gf group meeting and they take all precautions necessary. I eat at several Isaac's locations regularly and have never been sick. The food is great, too! I highly recommend these restaurants.
Yes
don't eat here if you are celiac!
We had to cut our trip short because of Isaac's.
Isaac's gluten free menu is useless since
the staff has not been trained about it.
A CELIAC IN OUR GROUP WAS SERVED THE GLUTEN BREAD,
even thought the staff assured, confirmed and reconfirmed that it was the GLUTEN FREE bread.
This was a devastating health setback, as any Celiac can verify. The reason we even found out about the non gf bread was because a staff member was walking by our table and asked why a guest would order a gluten free meal and be eating gluten bread!!
Isaac's is merely fashionably gluten free (ie. they want your money) and are not committed when
it comes to serving people with serious heath issues.
Either correctly teach the staff about food allergies or stop offering the false promise of gluten free meals!

Knowledgable, friendly, and delicious!!
I visited Issacs on April 6, 2024. I ordered the buffalo chicken salad which is gluten free. My friend ordered the Salty Eagle sandwich (not gluten free). We were both pleasantly surprised at how delicious our meals were. The restaurant was clean and the staff were very friendly.
I wish we had an Issac’s in CT. I would get that Buffalo chicken salad all the time.

This place was so incredibly helpful and careful about my allergies. I am very allergic to wheat and celiac. I had a salad and got hard boiled egg on it and guacamole and feta cheese. No reactions and the server reassured me that she wanted everything to be safe for me and made the salad herself with extra precautions. Thanks Isaac’s!!

South York store on Pauline Dr has amazing staff who are very attentive and aware of issues with cross contamination. They have GF wraps and many safe choices. The manager at this store is particularly outstanding.

We have always eaten at Issacs Pickle Bar downtown and we’re excited to see one closer. Dinner in was fine. Said we were celiac at idiom. Ordered salads to take back to our hotel. My daughter eats it and towards the end says she tastes a crouton. When she asks me to check there it was at the bottom. So I’m guessing they forgot and decided the old pick them off method would work. When I checked my salad they were too. I am extremely sensitive. So my birthday was spent with my daughter sick with both pain, nausea and much more. Manager refunded our check but doesn’t make up for a ruined trip and birthday. Took pictures of the salads and considering legal action. It will be weeks before she feels normal again AND she is a tennis teaching pro. Needless to say I will continue to go downtown and will never visit here again. If I could give no stars I would.
