Went above and beyond, would give 6 stars if I could. Manager has a daughter who has Celicas so very aware of cross contamination. No gf bagels, only English muffins, but they were so good. 3 types of non contaminated cream cheese, as well as breakfast sandwich options. Separate area for all of preparations. Non gf party members said bagels were delicious too.
***THE OWNERS HAVE CHANGED **
I wanted to make an edit to let everyone the owners have changed, I used to frequent this place. The previous owner had a daughter who was Celiac. Please note the owner has changed.
The food is delicious! The staff is very knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. The owners daughter has celiacs so there is a separate toaster and all of the needed precautions are taken. You can make any sandwich and menu item gluten free. I go here regularly.
It was yummy! But it made me sick. It definitely is risky having a meal at pretty much a 98% flour based store. I did ask about separate prep area, how they add ingredients, etc. The cashier seemed less than enthused but with the good reviews I thought I’d give it a try.
Solid, a udi’s GF bagel as a sandwich, spread, or however you choose! It was good but not great. Solid option. They show it on their online menu but not at the menu at the store.
Had the sausage egg and cheese bagel gluten free and they took extra precaution and I could hear them tell the kitchen I had celiacs. It was so delicious
Staff was incredibly knowledgeable about gluten-free/celiac needs. A sign states the presence of gluten and other allergens on site (it is a bagel place!), but gluten free options are available and noted on the menu and also on your ticket when you place your order. I could see my food being prepared and the chef changed her gloves and prepared my food in a separate area. My egg and cheese on a GF roll was great!
Island Bagels impressed me. Fully gluten-knowledgeable owner and staff. Owner’s daughter has Celiac and that seems to create an avid gluten-aware environment in a restaurant. Thank you. Bagels, sandwich options, side dishes all were absolutely delicious. This was one of those satisfying meals where I relaxed and enjoyed every bite, knowing I didn’t have to worry about gluten. Great place. Wish you were in Pgh, near me. ❤

My stepmom found this, and I was hesitant about a bagel place as a gluten free option. My faith was somewhat restored when I ordered something gluten free and the person taking my order yelled really loudly in the direction of the kitchen so they could prepare appropriately.
Got a breakfast sandwich on an English muffin, labeled gluten free. Presented separately from the bagels my family had ordered. Safe and tasty breakfast enroute.
Amazing celiac-safe spot for breakfast or lunch! The sandwiches are delicious and there are a lot of options to choose from. They offer a GF English muffin (not baked in-house) and a separate toaster for the GF items. They take cross-contamination seriously here, including having separate cream cheese tubs for GF orders.
The review stating that Island Bagels was out of gluten free options is not true. We always have gluten free. There may be a cream cheese that is requested that we don’t have available that is cross contaminated, but we have other options. We do however, have new people working, so it may have been a mistake on their end if that was said. My daughter is Celiac so I make sure we have something available. Thank you. Island Bagels, Carolina Beach
The owner's daughter has Celiac's so they're very careful about cross contamination. They have a separate toaster and prep area, and use non-shared cream cheese. They only have GF rolls/English muffins (Glutino) and do not make GF bagels. My Salt Life breakfast sandwich was delicious!
The staff is very knowledgeable about gluten allergies. If you let them know that you have a gluten allergy, then your meal is prepared in a gluten free area with gluten free equipment. I felt very safe eating here. The only bread option is a gluten free English muffin (pretty sure it's glutino) but there is a variety of meats, cheeses and a few cream cheeses that you can add as well as eggs.
I ended up ordering two sandwiches, and will be getting another today for my trip back home. Absolutely delicious and the staff member I had the pleasure of talking to was awesome!
Entire own kitchen space for gf, she told me my order would take just a little longer than most because they are very careful and safe about cc.
no gf bagels but they have gf english muffin and you can add a wide variety of stuff to it, also have a gf toaster, i got the locks with the works on a gf roll, very good
We ate breakfast here one morning while visiting the area. Two of us had gluten free foods that were bagged separately in a gf marked bag. I had The Kure Beach which they substitute English muffins for bagels. They DO NOT have gf bagels but do have gf English muffins. My sandwich was delicious except the chopped onions in the avocado. Onions were not listed so I didn't know to ask for them to be omitted. The eggs and bacon were average. Nothing fancy. Customer service was not great! My husband had a very nice person over the phone taking our order but when he got there the person he interacted with yelled at him for doing what he thought he was supposed to do. Which was grab the bag sitting out. When he headed to bag someone came out yelling at him. Apparently that wasn't our order. For her poor customer service I am giving them a 4 outta 5 stars. I would eat here again though.
While they had no gluten free bagels, all sandwiches could be made GF with an english muffin! They had GF chips as well for sides. There was even a little section on the menu stating that they used a separate toaster, tongs, etc for gluten allergies. The sandwich I got tasted fantastic and was such a treat because it is very rare to find GF breakfast sandwiches that are prepared in their own separate are.
The food here is delicious! I was eating there and I loved it so much I now work there! The owner makes a point for each employee to change gloves and take all of the needed steps to ensure a safe and allergy friendly experience. This was one of the few locations I not only loved my food but I did not get sick afterwards. You can get any sandwich on the menu and they will accommodate with either a gluten free English muffin or tortillas! They are currently working on more gluten free options! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable!
