Update: As others have mentioned they now charge $3 extra per GF roll. This is too bad. I used to go here regularly but won’t pay that surcharge. It’s silly.

These guys are extremely knowledgeable about GF ingredients. I have eaten here numerous times and never had a problem. They have GF soy sauce and flours. Unique sushi rolls and flavors - delicious.

Update: as previous commenter mentioned, they’ve updated their menu and pricing, including the additional $3 surcharge for gluten free handling. I used to be able to get a bento box at lunch for less than $15 with tip and today they wanted $21 (not including tip!) The sushi here has also declined in quality as of late. As much as i used to love this place, it’s not worth it anymore.

———————- They can make every roll on their menu gluten free except for the cowboy roll because it’s premarinated - even Vegas rolls!! My go-to place for lunch, they are extremely careful and knowledgeable about celiacs and I haven’t ever had an issue. They do sometimes put gyoza in my bento box, but my coworkers are usually happy to eat them, and it’s separated, so it hasn’t touched anything else. They even have gluten free Panko flakes. The first several times I always double checked that it was gluten free, but the servers know me now and take good care of me.

We have enjoyed Itto Sushi for decent gf sushi in the past, and my spouse was excited get birthday dinner from Itto. Well, after we spent 30 minutes looking at their 10 page menu that's posted on their official website, we decided on 4 specialty rolls to get. The menu says all rolls can be made gf for an extra dollar, but in our past experiences, there were some modifications (no eel sauce, no ponzu, etc), which is understandable.

I tried using the online order form and 2 of our selections weren't listed, some rolls were listed twice with different prices, and some items did not have a place to specify gluten free. That's when I called the restaurant. As it turns out, they drastically cut their menu offerings but didn't update the website, which is fine, we were ready to make new selections. But then I asked about gluten free and the employee informed me there is now a $3 additional fee PER ROLL for gluten free orders. My spouse said, "Absolutely not," and we ordered from Yellowfinn instead (it was great!)

By the way, nothing on the online order form references any additional fee for gluten free. I'm very glad we didn't place an online order and then show up to a bill TWELVE dollars higher than expected.

I placed my order online for one GF bento box and one not GF. They even called me to confirm what I wanted on my GF sushi roll, so I felt good. Got our food and started eating. It was so dark where we were eating so I took a few bites before I noticed that the sushi roll in my GF marked bento box was breaded and fried. It was my husbands and he had mine. I was so bummed, they got half right. Luckily I noticed before too far in. I love their food, so I’ll give them another try, just be warned.

The Midvale location only has 1 fryer so anything tempura or deep fried is NOT safe for Celiacs at this location. I haven't been but I've heard downtown and orem have separate fryers. The person taking my order did tell me there was only one fryer but only after I told her I hadn't had anything tempura-ed in forever. I didn't order anything because I just wanted some tempura stuff so I'm not sure what was available that wasn't fried.

They say everything can be made gluten free but they only have 1 fryer at THIS location. (midvale) so don't get anything fried here.

3 1/2 stars. Not celiac friendly. I request and inform my waiter before ordering that my entire meal be gluten free. Twice I have had the waiter come up after eating to inform me that it was not gluten free and they had used the regular tempura. Other than that Itto is great! I would just make sure and verify that my food is gf before eating.

I. Love. This. Place. I’m writing this sitting in the restaurant waiting for my to go order. This place raised me from the dead. I was afraid I would never get to eat good sushi again after being diagnosed with celiac. But gahdam this is the good stuff. The only sushi they can’t make gluten free (that I’ve encountered) is a roll with eel in it. They make tempura gluten free! Amazing. I am going to go eat 9 rolls by myself now. Everyone come here.

This was the BEST sushi we’ve ever had (which is saying a lot as sushi snobs ;)

The choices were endless including GF tempura shrimp and veggies and tempura rolls! They have a dedicated GF fryer and nearly all the sauces are GF ad they are homemade without regular soy sauce. We got to meet Itto himself and learn why making food everyone can enjoy is so important to him. They get their fish FRESH (never use frozen) every other day. They bring in the freshest tuna from Hawaii. I would never choose nigiri but it was so buttery fresh (not fishy tasting) that I loved it! This is for sure our go to place to eat now!! *Be sure to try the firebird and Romeo and Juliet (it had coconut shrimp). The only things not GF are beef, eel (and eel sauce), some noodles and potstickers. Basically any roll without those things can be made GF.

The sushi was overly saucy so the rice was soggy. Not terrible but not my favorite sushi place. When I asked, the tempura is fried in the same frier as the regular batter, just FYI. Otherwise they are knowledgeable about the options.

Sushi chef has gf soy sauce, flours, real crab and can substitute easily. I ordered the Caterpillar roll and Shrimp tempura roll. But they can make any roll GF. I was very pleased with my meal and how accommodating they were to me and my celiac. Definitely coming back!
