This was the best Jersey Mike’s I’ve been to. The minute I requested the GF bun the crew member immediately did all of the correct protocol for changing gloves and handwashing in preparation to handle my food. Additionally, this Jersey Mike’s had a separate dedicated GF prep area in the front of the store so I could observe my sandwich being made. There were separate lettuce and tomato bins. All other toppings I wanted were taken from the fresh containers in the back. I praised the team for such good food handling for my sub and one of them was the store trainer. I told him the Staunton, VA, store needed training for the employees for GF food handling but this store in Harrisonburg, VA, was the best!

The staff always stops, even in the middle of a lunch rush, to thoroughly wipe everything down and use new condiments. I have celiac and get very, very sick and have never had a reaction from eating there.
The staff here is amazing- tell them if you have a gluten allergy/celiac, and they will prepare in the back. I’ve never gotten sick here!
Yes
I have to say I never thought I'd be writing a review for a sub shop, but they definitely know what they're doing here. Bread comes sealed, gloves change and they will make your sandwich in the back with all ingredients form the back. It's rare I find places without any cross contamination, but these guys nailed it.

Staff is very aware the need to mitigate cross contamination. I’m very impressed.

The staff has been trained on how to prepare their gluten-free subs (on Udi grinder roll) without cross-contamination. I got “The American Classic.” SO enjoyable to have a sub out again!

Excellent friendly staff, knew the drill, changed gloves the entire line including cashier who bagged the food
Awesome GF bread and awesome service!!
GF sub rolls. wiped everything down first, used separate mayo and utensils. staff wss knowledgeable and very friendly. have gone 5 times! so good!
Amazing service with a very friendly attitude. The staff do not act like it is an inconvenience at all to clean the slicing machines or area around at all. They get sub stuff from the back. The subs are good normal sub size too. I have been there twice and have not been sick. I have celiac and get sick very easy. Comfortable eating here. So nice to have a great sub.
Yes
Amazing service for celiacs. They scrubbed everything down and got all the toppings fresh from the back!!

Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Haven’t had a sub sandwich in about 10 years and it was great.
$2.50 extra for gluten-free bread. Sandwiches are good. They were pretty good with precautions. Still, if I were super sensitive, I’d be worried about the amount of wheat flour crumbs floating around.

Service took a while. I ordered ahead of time even. I waited around 15 minutes once I arrived and was told it would take longer because of my allergy. Overall bread was hard and fell apart while eating it.

I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon to get a gf sub. They asked allergy or preference, wiped down the counter, put down paper, used a clean knife, changed gloves, and were cool about grabbing toppings from the back. They even moved the sandwich to fresh paper at the end of the line instead of wrapping in the paper that had sat on crumbs. Altogether I was impressed! At most locations I have to correct things as I go down the line, but the two staff who interacted with me here seemed very well trained on gf protocols.

They ask if you have an allergy or preference when it comes to the gluten free bread. After stating I have an allergy they cleaned the slicer, the counter, and all of the staff switched gloves. A new employee had accidentally used the mayo knife so they gave me new bread and then they use the squeeze bottle of mayo to prevent cross contamination. Everyone was very friendly, understanding, and aware of how to handle my allergy.

Amazing processes and protocols for safe handling of gluten free sandwiches to avoid cross contact. They explained their protocol to me without me prompting or asking any leading questions, showing me that know how to prevent cross contact.
