They get all of the toppings from the same area they get gluten toppings. Make sure you let them know they need to get fresh toppings from the back.
The guys working took great caution to make sure there was no contamination. They were also very kind and friendly, not making me feel like an inconvenience. The gluten free bread was pretty good compared to many other places.
The staff was very accommodating. Just make sure that you tell them you’re celiac (if you are), that it’s for medical reasons, and that you can’t have any cross contamination at all. Then they’ll take toppings from the back. I was pretty worried that I was going to be contaminated, not gonna lie. Lots of bread pieces flying around.
First sub sandwich is over four years. I probably shed a couple tears of joy enjoying a GF sub. Jersey Mike's uses sub rolls from Udi's. Sub roll holds up pretty well though like most other GF bread it has a tendency to fall apart after a while. None the less, sub was fantastic. Store followed very precise procedures which included wiping down everything (deli slicer, and preparation counters), everyone changed gloves, dedicated container for mayo for GF sandwiches, and dedicated knife for cutting the sandwich. While not a dedicated preparation area, by far one of the most thorough processes I have seen to date. Will be interested to see if that process is followed during a busy rush as it took a few extra minutes to prepare my sandwich and there was a few folks waiting patiently in line behind me. I would not hesitate to eat at Jersey Mike's again. I felt very confident that my sandwich was going to be safe to eat and was delicious on top of it. Jersey Mike's thank for you taking the lead for national sandwich chains to have GF bread available.
Gluten free bread is separately packaged. They changed gloves and stopped to spray down the slicer in front of me. They used a separate work space to put my sand which together.
Jerseys Mikes does a great job for those with celiac. They serve Udis Rolls and have a dedicated area for making gf subs along with its own cutting machine for meats and cheeses. New toppings from back to avoid cross contamination. Manager very friendly and accommodating. Also food was very good. Recommend.
I’ve ordered subs from here several times with no issue. They wipe everything down and then wash hands and change gloves. They use a bottle mayonnaise to avoid cross contamination.
The staff was amazing and kind at this location. The staff wiped down everything, including the meat and cheese cutters throughly before making my sandwich. The bread was freshly and delicious. Unknown if they use the same oven when cooking their bread, so I’m not stating if it’s celiac friendly, but I didn’t have issues with mine.
The rating is for the staff and food as well. They seemed incredibly knowledgeable about Celiac when asked. If you like subs (which my celiac son does) this is a godsend. Sandwich on sealed Udi’s bread, prepared in a separate part of the kitchen using a separate sliver for ingredients. Very nicely done, Mike’s.
Offered to change gloves but would have used the cross-contaminated toppings. Not at all gluten free
Staff here is great about avoiding cross contamination and using new cutting boards and utensils. Takes a little extra time but completely worth it. I always appreciate how knowledgeable they are!! Sandwiches are delicious!
The staff are very cautious here. Change their gloves then prepare the gluten free sandwiches in a separate location.
This Jersey Mike’s has been my refuge in times of restaurant crises, and I’m so grateful to have it nearby. The staff are always very gracious and—bonus!—you can watch them follow their pretty strict GF protocol right before your eyes. Separate knives and cutting board, prep equipment, gloves, and a full wipe-down of the deli slicer prior to preparation.
So far, so good. My so. Has eaten there three times with no reactions. I still feel Nervous every time, since they are so busy. But the last time I was there, the guy waiting on us explained he was going to sanitize and prepare separately. I wish the menu labeled which sandwiches could be made gf, but we are grateful they’re willing to help.
Wipe everything down and use squirt bottles for condiments. Change utensils too. Never had any reaction and eat there often.
— Gluten-free items are marked on the main menu
I visited here twice. Their sandwich was good yet pricey. However, their gluten protocol scared me enough to not go back. They did a great job keeping my sandwich separate until they got to the toppings... it makes me nervous that a worker touching normal bread grabs lettuce and then the person making my sub walks over and grabs from the same bin? It didn’t make me sick but I’m not sure I’ll go back.
Really delicious gf bread option! Very knowledgable staff. They asked if I was just gluten free or celiac. When I said celiac they changed gloves and prepared food on clean space. Delicious! So great to be able to enjoy a sandwich again!
Jersey Mike’s is fantastic if you are GF. They change gloves and prep your food in a separate area to avoid cross-contamination. Just let them know you it is an allergy and they will take care of you.
They did a great job preparing my sandwich. They cut the meat and GF roll in a separate area and on a separate slicer and use separate toppings. I was excited to get a quick sub sandwich and not get sick!
I have celiac and I ask lots questions! I said do you guys change your gloves... he said Yes! Night manager apparently has celiac or a gluten issue. They prepare the gluten free in a separate area, and the sandwiches were amazing, they even had gluten free cookies! Thank you Jersey Mike’s for catering to celiac!
The staff was extremely knowledgeable they had a completely separate station for gluten-free items including the lettuce tomato mayonnaise so very little cross-contamination compared to many other sub shops. Way to go Jersey Mike’s I will definitely be back again
When I asked the staff how they handle Gluten Free they asked “preference or allergy?” If it is a food preference they take no precautions but continue to handle the gluten free products with cross-contaminated gloves. He also told me they use the same set of toppings for regular or gluten free because “we don’t touch the toppings with the bread.” When I pointed out that they’re touching the bread with their hands and then touching the toppings, which cross-contaminates the toppings the guy shrugged and said “we haven’t had anyone complain yet.” He made it clear that he really didn’t care what happened to people he served. As I was leaving, someone came in with an allergy, so I decided to observe the process. While I was there and I watched the guy take off his gloves and proceed to wipe the counter down with a dirty rag. Then he took the dirty cross-contaminated rag and wiped down the meat slicer. He did this all with his bare hands and never even washed his hands once. Then, with un-gloved hands, he proceeded to handle the gluten bread on the bread rack while looking for a gluten free bun. Without washing his hands, he then located and handled the gluten free bun. I not only question their gluten free handling process but the establishment’s general hygiene practices. If you have Celiac or Gluten intolerance, or just like sanitary food prep, stay away from this place.
The staff checked all the labels to ensure I wasn’t exposed to other ingredients I’m sensitive to. They sell Udi’s snickerdoodles which was a nice surprise. Several gf chips were available as well. The bread fell apart easily as gf bread often does. Toasting the bread would have helped, but they didn’t offer and I got distracted getting my drink.
— Not at all
They don't have a separate kitchen for gluten free, so how can you really trust them?
— No gluten-free information on the menu
— Just a couple

My husband was just gluten-poisoned at the Lakewood location (don't see them listed on this site). We will never order from a jerseys again. The employees don't take celiac disease very seriously.
They were just receiving their truck when I arrived and I was told it would be 5 minutes or so if I wanted to wait for the gluten free bun. Of course I'll wait as long as they take the proper precautions. And they did. Changed gloves, different knife, individual topping containers, etc. This is my go to for sandwiches.
I had a sub here yesterday, and the staff was very knowledgeable when I said I had an allergy. Two of them immediately changed their gloves, got new utensils, clean the equipment and put paper down on the surface before making my sub! And I would like to add that the sub was delicious!
I’ve been to this location several times and each time the staff cleans the grill, slicer, and prep area and then changes gloves when I tell them I am gf. They use Udi buns, which are good, but not always really fresh. I’ve never had any issues.
Staff was very knowledgeable. Cleaned the counter and slicer before making my sandwich. Changed gloves, got a new knife, and made the sandwich on paper. The sandwich was made well. I would come back.
I have found that Jersey Mikes as a whole does a really good job with training their staff about gluten and cross contamination. This location in Flemington is no exception, I come here regularly and they always do a good job.
When I asked if they have GF bread, The young boy behind the counter said “yes! Are you celiac?!” I was shocked because no one ever knows what celiac is lol The owner was there and he made my sub himself and had separate mayo and took extra care for making sure my meal was safe. Thank you!
My mistake for coming in 20 minutes before close. They were clearly trying to get us out ASAP. I specified gluten free for an allergy and to please prep separate. She changed her gloves and made my sub in a tub on a dirty counter, moved some gluten bread with her gloves and went back to prepping my tub, then used all the toppings from the regular prep line. It all happened so fast I was just baffled. Gave my tub away to a family member and ate a Quest bar for dinner. I picked this place because the reviews said it was great. Just know if you go in, you need to be loud and vigilant. Could I have asked her to redo it? Yeah. But it wasn’t worth it. I just took the L and carried on with my life.
Mililani location has been phenomenal each time we have ordered GF subs! They take special care not to cross contaminate. We often order online and just type in the notes “GF due to an allergy”. We have not had any issues and the subs are delicious.
