I've gotten sick here in spite of being clear about having severe celiac disease. They dip into the same mayo and mustard that has been glutened by their bread & rolls , etc when making your supposed GF lettuce wrap. Not Celiac safe. Also, the owner slaughters endangered animals in Africa. Google it.

After several visits I'm more and more pleased. They are eager to change gloves and lay their paper out to cover their work space when I mention "gluten free." One employee specifically recalled my worry over the Dijon and made sure no one put it on my unwich. I did my own research as they don't have a gluten free menu but they are more than willing to accommodate and always friendly.

Has a lettuce wrap instead of bread. The cheese has low amounts of gluten so go dairy free too ;). Something quick and fresh to eat.

Love their unwich (lettuce wrap) - they also wrap it up nicely so you can simply peel back the paper as you eat to avoid mess. Great way to satisfy my sub craving! They also have a GF chip option

This was a nice stop for lunch. I had one of their unwiches (lettuce wrap) and it was quite tasty. The manager understood gluten-free issues and he directed the food preparers to wash their hands, change their gloves, wash the preparation area, AND put a piece of fresh paper down on the prep line before fixing my sandwich!

The Unwiches are awesome, just ask for no cheese. Almost everything they serve is gluten free except for the cheese. Very good alternative to regular fast food

They have lettuce wrapped sandwiches and probably the best ones at wrapping them!

The Unwich (lettuce wrap) is the only gluten free item on the menu (also chips and pickle and fillings). I got a BLT on lettuce wrap. It was good, I felt a little weird after it, but it was also my first time eating fast food so that may be it. I have a very serious reaction to gluten so I think it is pretty safe because I didn’t have serious/that many side effects.

You can get an unwich (lettuce wrap) and when you order tell them you are celiac and need gluten free, they will wash their hands and change their gloves. I eat here all the time and am celiac with no issues.

No problem ordering gluten free. The ‘unwich’ (lettuce wrap) was delicious.

Have a gluten free menu on their website. Lots of lettuce wrap options, the pickles, and most of the chips are gluten free! :)

A great alternative for a quick meal. Your choice of sandwiches on lettuce. Order the “unwich”

Multiple staff members had obvious negative non verbal reactions when I asked about ingredients. They could not find anything listing allergens, ingredients, or nutrition. No accommodation or apologetic tone.

Great lettuce wrapped sub and chips. They deliver!

They have a dedicated place where they will prepare lettuce wraps. The staff is very knowledgeable and does a good job preventing cross contamination.

Love JJ’s!! The unwiches are great and refreshing. Wish they had a gf bun option too, but the unwiches are honestly delicious. I always get the Beach Club (#12)

Staff were happy to change their gloves to make my unwich (lettuce wrap), and even spoke up to include mayo packets instead of cross contaminating with their spatula/jar of mayo. For you celiacs who are in a jam, and need something quick, do your research beforehand (see link below), and advocate for yourself when you order! Things containing gluten at Jimmy John’s: -bread & cookies -cheese (contains barley wheat) -tuna -salt and vinegar chips -bbq chips Allergen list: https://www.jimmyjohns.com/downloadable-files/AllergenInformation.pdf

Went for a lettuce wrap. Explained that I had Celiac and asked if they would mind changing gloves. They told me that they would not. Also said they would not make my wrap over fresh paper. Said they were specifically instructed NOT TO for people with gluten issues. I emailed the manager, and sure enough, that is their policy. If you tell them you have a gluten allergy/Celiac, they will NOT make any accommodations. No clean gloves, no fresh paper. I don't understand it, but obviously will not be back.

Must get the "unwich" lettuce wrap. Allergy knowledgeable and good about cross-contamination. Recommended!

I live that you can get your sandwich done unwhich (wrapped in lettuce) so I can eat it. I can’t eat egg and all the gluten free bread seems to have it.

The staff is knowledgeable about gluten free and make lettuce wraps called unwich. They change their gloves and wash. Great sandwich alternative.

They have the Unwich option instead of bread, which is of course low-carb, so I load up on veggies, avocado, and more meat. Make sure they change gloves; sandwich maker didn't hear the cashier repeat that back to me, but my husband requested, and they prepared it in a different area. No reaction, but I'm not Celiac.

I normally get the tuna and it is fine for a quick meal.

They don’t have anything but the unwich

They have lettuce wraps and are very careful with cc. They change their gloves and prepare at separate station. Make sure you ask for mayo packets instead of them using the common container.

I eat here all the time!! Obviously don't order the bread but I eat the unwhich (lettuce wrap) like 3 times a week and it's almost better than a regular sandwich!

I’ve had their lettuce wraps but have gotten sick once. You must ask them to change their gloves and tell them it’s an allergy. Watch out for cross contamination. They don’t have a dedicated GF area.

Yucky not good. I had a lettuce wrap, it was all lettuce and made me sick

Unwich, lettuce wrapped version of any sandwich. Check their website, most ingredients gf, tuna and surprisingly cheese not.

No gluten free options besides subbing bread for lettuce at the same price.

Ask them to change gloves, put down fresh paper along the counter as they prepare an Unwich -- lettuce wrap. Also, ask for mayo and mustard in the individually wrapped package. We usually have good success when we give these directions for our food preparation.

They do not have GF options, only lettuce wraps. I would not recommend this place for that reason.

You have to order as an unwich which is in a lettuce wrap, and specify that you need it to be gluten free. They will give you mayo packets instead of spreading it for you to eliminate cross contamination. Unfortunately last night I was glutened. Not sure if it was cross contamination from the counter or they didn't change gloves or what.

High risk of cross contamination they don't change gloves after touching bread and drag the lettuce leaf across the prep area adding the fillings as they build your unwich.

Order Unwich- Tell them you have a gluten allergy they should clean work space and change gloves i usually watch to be sure not cross contamination occurs

Ask for your sandwich to be made unwhich style. Tuna is not gf. It is made with soy sauce.

Had the unwich. The staff all changed gloves and cleaned the counter before preparing my unwich. No issues. I'll be back!

I love having this fast food option! Jimmy Johns has a spectacular unwich where I can enjoy my favorite veggies and meat wrapped in lettuce!

Unwich option great for quick lunch. I read the Beef is not GF. Also the cheese is questionable if you are extremely sensitive do not risk it. Should be fine with other meats. Chips are all GF. As with most places like this cross contamination is very possible beware.

Order a gluten free unwich with mayo and mustard packets on the side (the mayo and mustard is cross-contaminated) I've eaten here a couple of times with no issues! Staff was knowledgeable and friendly

Celiac

Make sure you state you have a gluten allergy - they will change their gloves for you. but apparently you also need to clarify that you want mayo and mustard packets on the side (so they don't cross-contaminate with the mayo and mustard buckets that the spatulas are constantly dipped into and wiped on bread) As long as you clarify all that, I've eaten here a couple of times with no issues

This is not really a safe place. Unwiches are still prepared on crumb covered cutting board area. Way too much cross contamination here. Update! I revisited Jimmy Johns to give it another try. When you tell them you need an Unwich because of gluten intolerance they will all do a glove change, make your Unwich on paper- not on the cutting board. Great job! Happy to eat here again.

Jimmy Johns in DeForest consistently makes gluten free "unwiches", taking care to prevent cross-contamination. They are so attentive to my son's Celiac needs that they know his order by heart!

You can get any sandwich in a lettuce wrap (cheese and beef might not be gf). Staff was knowledgeable, changed gloves, etc. Good for a quick meal.
