I grew up on Kelly's so after I was diagnosed boy was I stoked to hear that they're Celiac friendly. Now I always go for their GF roast beef sandwiches and chocolate frappes. They have the best gf bread I've ever had on a sandwich! The staff is always very aware and knowledgable. I've never had a problem or even been worried that I would here. Plus I see they have recently expanded their gf sandwich options (including subs) which I can't wait to try!
Awesome service- I've never seen someone take gluten free so seriously! Management came to the front and spoke to us and connected with the kitchen staff to ensure everything was correct. Gluten free rolls available!
Lots of sandwich options for GF, but GF roll was only ok. And, wished the fries were GF.
I was so excited to be able to eat at Kelly's again. I had the roast beef sandwich and it tasted just as I remembered it. I was told that they were going to start offering gluten free hot dog rolls so that opens up more options. The gentleman I spoke with was very nice and he told me how they were going to toast my roll to insure there would be no cross contamination. It would be nice if they listed their gluten free options in the restaurant.
Great place for kids. Gf offerings include the bun, they grill on aluminum foil to avoid contamination and they use separate butter. Also the kids meal side options are coleslaw, fruit cup, chips.. 4 stars instead of 5 because fried food is not GF.
Roast beef sandwich is delicious. Never had an issue with cross contamination.
Upon ordering, staff was alerted of our gluten allergy and manager came over to confirm our order. Lots of options available on GF rolls. Separate fryer used too. Everything seemed great until our food came. Ordered Surf and Turf combo. Roast beef sandwich was served on GF roll but lobster roll was on a regular hot dog bun (they do not have GF hot dog buns). Fortunately I could eat around it since I do not have Celiac (just sensitivity) but make sure you pay attention! Meals for my wife and daughter (who have Celiac) were fine. We'll go back but that cost them 2 stars on my review!
I absolutely love this place. The roast beef is my favorite, but they have several tasty sandwiches that can be served on a gluten-free roll. Every time I ask for the GF bun, they always ask whether I have an allergy -- which I don't, but I appreciate that they seem to put a strong focus on checking.
They don't advertise the GF options on the menu, but when I told them I had a gluten allergy, the manager came over and explained what they could make. They have amazing GF rolls for sandwiches and I was able to have French fries.
Staff manager was rude about the allergy. Person at the desk told me they had no gluten free meat but had gluten free rolls. ( made no sense). When I questioned that she did check with her manager and was helpful and pleasant enough. Would be nervous going here of super sensitive.
I have both a gluten and dairy allergy. Looking at the menu, I thought we'd have to go someplace else, but when I went up to ask a few questions, our server was very helpful, double checked everything and even made some suggestions. I ended ordering a garden salad with a side of lobster on tip (one of the suggestions of my wonderful server). She also made sure to alert a manager and have everyone in the kitchen change their gloves. We were at the Natick/Jordan's location during the week at about 11:30, so it wasn't very crowded. You might not received the same level of service when there is a huge line.
Disappointing.. Staff does not understand gluten free or cross contamination. I ordered a lobster roll without the roll. I asked for some lettuce and tomatoe. I was given 1 small piece of lettuce and 2 small slices of tomatoe. I left very hungry after spending almost $20.
They offer gluten free rolls!
Generally, this is a place I like and trust. The gluten free bun is good, and I have been okay after eating here... Until my last visit. They must not have been careful enough preparing it. I'm sure I will give them another shot, but I'm taking a break from them for a while.
I asked for gluten free options and the clerk said there was none. I asked for chowder, first the clerk said it wasn't gluten free so I looked for other things. the cook came running over offered me a gluten free list and chowder was on it. now worried about gluten I order something with a bun. the clerk asked if I wanted it toasted. I asked how they plan to not contaminate it. she had no answer I opted not to. my food came out on the same tray as my families with the chicken. fingers hanging in my dish. I spoke with mgmt. she apologized and gave me a giftcard to give them another chance.
Pretty good! Be careful of the fires though they sometimes have a different fryers ! The steak and cheese is great. Every restaurant has flour in the air. Especially a fried seafood place. But I've been eating here for years with celiac and been okay
I lived here as a gluten eating teenager. I was more than excited to eat cheese fries again. Dedicated fryer and kitchen seemed knowledgable. My mom had a gf burger and the bun was the best I've had out. Thinner but soft and did not fall apart. Next day and both my mom and I are fine! Update: gotten sick more than once. Not sure if it is bc bun is grilled, or my body is not tolerating the fat. However now worth it. So sad.
I was assured that the fryer is dedicated to fries. I enjoyed a burger on GF bun and fries for the first time in a long time. I did not feel bad at all and really expected to just from the richness of the food. Felt like a small miracle, a tasty one at that! Not something I would eat every week, but a nice treat once or twice a year.
While they only have one gf roll, being able to get their great roast beef makes it worth the trip. BBQ pulled beef, burgers, pastrami and Reuben's also available on that same roll. Unfortunately the fries aren't cooked in a dedicated frier. Update 5/3/2015. They now serve a new gf roll, from Gillian's. Nice improvement.
Gf lobster roll, yes please! Coleslaw too. I react to small levels and have been able to eat fries. It is a dedicated fryer, but was told the hose (either to fill or empty) touches the other fryers, so cc is possible...I get the cheese fries and have never reacted.
I had heard that Kelly's had a gluten free bun so I decided to check it out. Upon ordering gluten free, they ask if it is an allergy. Ordered a gluten free roast beef sandwich with fries. Great experience. Great food. Felt good after. Will definitely return.
very knowledgeable about allergy. ate their twice and didn't get sick. had the roast beef both times. they say they can make any sandwich with the gf roll. manager also came to talk to me. the rolls are also soy free which alot of people suffer from soy allergies. kocations were saugus ma and Medford ma.
I have never had a problem here. If staff are unsure, they call over a manager. The gluten free rolls are really good (I like them way better than Udi's). I've even had the lobster roll on them. Not quite the same as a hot dog roll, but delicious just the same. Staff/managers have always been great about checking ingredient list when I want to try something new. They have a dedicated fryer for fries.
It was ok. Since it was my first visit, I was unsure what I could order. Manager on duty last night was not very helpful. It was not crowded, but she acted as if I was taking up valuable time and did not seem to understand why I had questions. Was not feeling the exceptional service reported here. Roast beef on gluten free roll was ok but did not order anything else because she was so vague. Will only come back if a menu is available so that I do not have to ask questions and take up valuable staff time.
GF buns for sandwiches! The staff asked repeatedly to make sure they understood my allergy, and manager talked to me as well. Bun was delicious on my roast beef sandwich. Not sure about other GF items. I am not celiac, just gluten sensitive, so not sure how "safe" it is with cross contamination. I was happy.
