Not a good experience for us, sadly. Yes, gluten-free soy sauce was given when requested. The big negative (and minus stars) was the language barrier and the inability to understand gluten-free. We had to navigate the menus and create the modifications ourselves. Once returning an order on account of a no orange sauce being replaced with teriyaki sauce. The final negative was a hair found on a roll. Though the staff apologized and provided a refund, it was all in all meh, won’t return experience.
Awesome local spot, chill, really accommodating. Definitely a real family restaurant.
The GF options aren’t marked but just ask. All the staff was super knowledgeable and gave options.
They have GF soy and teriyaki sauce. I don’t think they have the GF tempura anymore (if they ever did).
Again really good flexibility for a sushi restaurant and staff are super observant
Great sushi, GF friendly, and great service. Knowledgeable about GF, GF crab, sauces, soy sauce, etc. They have GF tempura with a separate fryer.
We ordered delivery and indicated that each item should be gluten free. When the food arrived I noticed 3 out of 4 rolls seemed to have tempura shrimp in the middle. Called to confirm and apparently the chef thought that gluten free means that just the sauces are gluten free and that it’s perfectly fine to shove breaded shrimp into our food. It was even more ridiculous considering that none of the items we ordered were described on the menu as having tempura shrimp. They said crystal shrimp instead even though other items explicitly say tempura shrimp. Anyway, the waitstaff were super helpful and seem baffled by the chefs interpretation of gf. We got a refund and ordered food elsewhere. I’m super grateful I didn’t start chowing down without looking because I’d be on the toilet right now otherwise. Celiacs beware.
They have gf soy sauce and teriyaki. I stuck to raw rolls and nigiri which is usually safe. The Island roll was really good. I also accidentally ate the crab, but I had no reaction, so consume at your own risk (or ask to double check)
The sushi was amazing quality! The service was really slow, but they did seem busy (as busy as a restaurant can be during COVID)
If you do not know what to avoid (basically anything fried or that isn’t plain fish and/or crab), this is not the place for you. With that said, I’ve had celiac disease for 10+ years and know how to navigate menus well. I got the California roll and rainbow roll and they have gluten free soy sauce and teriyak. It was phenomenal sushi. Highly recommend, plus great service and knowledgeable/helpful staff.
Kitzmo sushi is very good and their owner is knowledgeable about gluten free ingredients well as his staff, and chefs. If you let them know you're gf they make adjustments to the rolls. The owner also makes gf teriyaki sauce- however you have to call ahead to see if he has a fresh batch. They also have gf soy sauce. If you're highly sensitive be aware they do not have independent cooking stations.
