Their "gluten free" soy sauce contains wheat! https://www.kojakitchen.com/gluten-free Regrettably, I ate here a couple times before learning this and while I was never *super* sick, I definitely felt off afterwards, now I know why. Not sure what they think is so terrible about using truly GF tamari instead, and it's a real shame they don't because the food is actually pretty tasty.
Been here many times and got The Original KoJa, the Beef KoJa, and the Short Rob Bowl. All are fantastic. They also have GF sauce. They are very careful and knowledgeable about gluten allergies and change their gloves + avoid cross contamination (I’m very sensitive). Would strongly recommend.
They claim wheat containing soy sauce is gluten-free due to gluten not showing up in tests - https://www.kojakitchen.com/gluten-free I would not trust them for anything beyond a bottled beverage or water.
Just like the location in Walnut Creek, the menu is a little different but the GF options are basically the same. Easy, tasty, relatively cheap, a win in my book. I do think much of the food is quite sweet so for example I have the korean bbq but without the pineapple so it's not as sweet. Hot sauce helps too! I have celiac and felt fine after eating here and in the WC location, as long as I don't eat the fries. They say they are GF but I don't feel great when I eat them so I avoid them now.
Excellent food! I had the short rib koja, which was indicated as GF and the attendant said it was one of the more popular GF items. It was very tasty, loved the rice patties in place of the bun. My food was about 8 dollars.
Excellent Korean/Japanese fusion food. I believe almost everything on the menu is gluten free. Normally for Korean and Japanese food a lot of soy sauce is used so I've been out of luck but they use GF soy sauce here. Interesting dishes! I've read that certain roe eggs have some type of wheat filler but KoJa says theirs are fine and I haven't gotten sick from them. I'd say it's up to you whether you'd want them. For me personally they don't add much flavor so I ask for them off.
