One of my favorite Wilmington spots! Even my boyfriend who isnt gluten free loves it too. I usually order the hibachi chicken and fried rice. Have never gotten sick.

I’m a former employee (left because of school schedule change, not any issues) and also have wheat and rye allergies. My boyfriend has celiac. Having the inside perspective really helped us feel safe here. Fried things are fried with corn starch, soy sauce is swapped for gf version, hibachi is made in a separate and clean area. Ordering online is a little tricky because it shows two gluten free options, but just be clear online or in person that you have an allergy! :)

Had steak & shrimp hibachi. Was told it would all be gluten free (salad with ranch, steak & shrimp, fried rice, zucchini & onions)... now I'm the bathroom at the hotel having a reaction. I should've stayed the safe route and done sushi! Never again!!!

Have eaten at this restaurant a few times now and I always leave satisfied. The servers seem to be very knowledgeable and I have not had any reactions the times I have eaten at Kyoto.

Best Asian food I’ve had since being diagnosed. Staff was super knowledgeable and the selection was insane! Had miso soup and steak hibachi, then took some pad Thai to go. All were delicious and didn’t get sick!

Knowledgeable staff .. had 2 different soups, fried rice and drunken noodles ! All was delicious and made gf/ waitress said all gf food is made in a seperate area. None of got sick. We have eaten probably 6 times before and never had an issue.

This was the first restaurant I’ve eaten out at since I was diagnosed and I was so happy and relieved. The staff had GF ingredients on hand, the GF meals were marked on the menu and the food was delicious. Hibachi has always been one of my favorites and I was so nervous and embarrassed to go out, but now I feel so much better.

Will definitely be returning again and again.

Really helpful and sweet waitstaff! One of our waitresses also had a gluten allergy and was so helpful with the menu and what I could and couldn’t have. She also assured me they were carful and safe in the kitchen. The hibachi and white sauce were both delicious!

Love the owners and the food is so delish! The noodle dishes, fried rice, and curries are amazing as well as several GF soup options. Their hibachi lunch bowls are a great deal too!

Menu was marked for gluten free, but I didn’t ask about the cross contamination. We went on our first night in town, so I did not want to take the risk. Played it safe with simple sushi rolls. Good food, but took over an hour for our sushi to come to the table. I took off one star on this review for this reason.

We went for the first time today. I am Celiac and my son is gluten sensitive. Sami was our waitress and she was very knowledgeable about gluten free. The food was amazing and so was the service. Thank you Sami for taking the time to answer all of our questions and for making sure our food was gluten free. We will definitely make this a regular place to visit. A+ review!!

The waitress took extra time to help me navigate the menu (what was more likely to have cross contamination, what was safest). She made a couple of extra trips to ask the cook specific questions. I settled on Hibachi chicken and shrimp with steamed rice. It was great! No reaction, happy customer. -I am non-celiac gluten/dairy intolerant, I do have a mild reaction to cross contamination.

Told server had gluten allergy. Ordered sushi and fried rice. Fried rice came late with just rice and gf soy sauce. A little unclear whether it was prepared without crosse contamination. Clearly server inexperienced. Daughter was very sick after.

Made the mistake of driving bt here for a year because honestly the exterior leaves a lot to be desired! But, inside its very clean and the menu has SO MANY clearly marked gluten free options. I really wanted sushi and they told me basically any of the raw rolls can be accomodated for gf. Was such a treat have not EVER had sushi without getting glutened in wilmington..which i know sounds so crazy, but true.

What a rare little gem this place is! Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside is lovely! Staff was great in suggesting the safest foods for me & assuring clean prep space. I had real hibachi filet for the first time in forever— delicious! The jasmine tea was delightful also.

You have to go here fellow GF peeps! Simply amazing. Quite a few options to choose from. I started with the Bangpei shrimp which are GF fried shrimp in a delectable and addicting sweet & spicy sauce. I was fawning over these things! I could’ve easily eaten 3 orders of just these. I followed this with the Penang curry (all curries are safe!) which was so incredibly delicious and had just the right amount of sweetness & heat. I am so pleased and I cannot wait to come back. Do yourself a favor and go today and please get that Bangpei shrimp and prepare to be in love.

I've passed this place 100 times at least and finally went after reading other reviews. I still called ahead to double check and was very pleased with what the lady on the phone told me. They have a dedicated grill for the vegetarian and gluten-free items and they use a newly cleaned pot for everything else. I was also pleased to find that they had the gluten free items on the menu marked and there was plenty to choose from! I was pleasantly surprised at some of the stuff was gluten free. I ended up with the egg drop soup and Japanese hibachi chicken and shrimp. Even the white sauce was safe! I couldn't contain my excitement at being able to eat authentic Asian food that I didn't have to cook myself! The sushi menu isn't marked which items are gluten free but the sushi chef that I talked to on the phone told me she could use a separate prep surface if I was interested in sushi. Everything was very yummy and the staff was super nice and helpful. I will definitely be back!

OMW....if I lived in Wilmington, I would eat there weekly. I haven't eaten any sushi since finding out I was celiac. Seeing a sign reading GF friendly, my husband, daughter, and I took a chance. Susan met us in the lobby and assured us she would be making the food and all of what I could eat. She used GF soy sauce, and a separate cooking area for my allergy, for the Hibachi that I ordered. My salad was with the peanut dressing, as I couldn't have the ginger dressing.. I did order a sushi roll, but cannot recall which one. There were several to select from the list. I will, without a doubt, make this a place to patron every time I am in Wilmington.... as long as Susan is on staff!

Awesome sushi and a very knowledgeable staff that are meticulous about serving gluten free food. The chef even came out to inform me of an ingredient in a dish I ordered to be sure I made an educated meal decision. Will definitely go back!
