Great ramen. Most American places only do those clear shirataki noodles so the superior options here are much appreciated.

They make any ramen gluten free. I have gluten intolerance and was fine afterwards. The food is delicious and i am thinking to go back for a second time. You can order in english fine with no issue.

I must have hit this place on an off day. They understood when I told them I was celiac so I felt safe ordering but I felt sick afterwards. I also felt like the ramen broth was just okay. Sorry to say it didn’t live up to the high expectations I had from the other reviews

Very good and tasty GF ramen (more than one options), the staff is english-speaking and knowledgeable (not obvious in japan). Kitchen is not dedicated, but if you remark being celiac they will be careful and very conscious. A must-to-go of your visit in Kyoto

Very happy to find this place it has nice tasting ramen with gluten free noodles available and is very safe from my experience. Only thing is that portion sizes are a bit small, if you’re hungry definitely get two bowls ;)

So great to be able to enjoy gluten free ramen! I felt very safe and the staff was super friendly. It was delicious broth - but I wish the eggs and pork weren’t over cooked. Definitely recommend this spot! Great location and good sake, too!

DO NOT DRINK THE TEA. By default they bring out Barley Tea instead of water. Other than that, the place is incredible. I showed my card and he instantly told me everything could be adapted (it was called out in the menu). The ramen is the best I’ve ever had, it was incredible.

Resturant is in wrong location, actually about two blocks north-east. Check Google maps. They don't take reservations and will give you a ticket when you arrive usually 30-60min wait. Best GF ramen we've had in Japan, totally worth it. They can accommodate a range of allergens.

SUPERB!! So glad we stopped here. The wait was about 30 mins and they don’t take reservations but it was absolutely worth the short wait. The entire menu could be made gluten free, all cooked in a clean space for safety. 10/10

The ramen was delicious! I got spicy miso gluten free. It was still busy on a weeknight. We waited about 30 minutes to get in. Also make sure you ask for water - mugi tea was brought out to us as the default when we sat down.

We came here multiple times during our trip and it was so delicious each time - there is limited seating so either get there at opening or plan to wait about 30 min outside in a line. It’s worth the wait though to have vegan and gluten free options as well as more traditional ramen; something for everyone! Very safe for people with Celiac disease as the gluten free noodles are cooked in separate water/pan and are strained with a separate colander. Great food, great staff, fun place to go!

You must go. Literally amazing. My husband isn’t GF and lived in Japan for 7 months and even he said it was the best ramen he’s ever had. If you tell them you’re gluten free they use rice noodles (cooked in separate water) and gf soy sauce. There was some confusion on this when I was in the shop because someone asked one of the hostesses and she wasn’t sure what gluten free was and anything about the soy sauce but the chef is on it. Worth the wait!

Went here with my coeliac boyfriend. 13 people in the queue before us and took about 20 mins to be seated. The best ramen we have ever had - creamy goodness. Well worth the wait. Would recommend the spicy one (they can do it with half spice and you can add as much or little extra chilli powder (or chilli gin!) as you would like. Vegan options available. Ramen only thing on menu. 3 or 4 kinds of gluten free sake available too. Very helpful English speaking waiter.

They give you a little chip that says gluten free so that servers know not to accidentally give you the wrong meal. I got the gluten free miso ramen. Extremely delicious and flavorful. It does get crowded, so go early. Highly recommend.

REAL ramen broth. This is the holy grail of gluten free ramen. The broth is thick, hearty, rich, and creamy. The noodles are also hearty and don't break apart when you pick them up with chopsticks. They have a system to keep it safe for celiacs, noodles are cooked in their own separate pot, the broth is already gluten free, and you are given a plastic disk that indicates you're gluten free. Everyone knows this place is spectacular, you have to arrive when they open or before in order to avoid the lines. Seriously, if you show up after 5 you will be waiting. DO NOT LEAVE KYOTO WITHOUT EATING HERE. I can check ramen off my gluten free search list. So now when I want real ramen and not some gummy watery sad substitute, I'll just fly to Japan.

I was able to order incredible gluten free ramen, which I had been wanting to try! There were gf options for each of their ramens including a vegan options. Get there early because the line can get long (worth it)! We got there at 4pm and were first in line, but within 15 minutes there was a long line behind us even before opening.

Absolutely the best food we had while in Japan. Kyoto Engine’s soup base was incredibly dynamic and packed full of flavor.
During our stay in Kyoto we went twice and I had both the vegan options and they were perfect! My partner has celiacs pretty severely so we found this place to be perfect!
Wish we could get this high quality of food in America!

Loved this place. A number of English speaking staff. Owner has a commitment to serving safe gluten free food and even put a sticker on our table saying “gluten free” to prevent serving staff inadvertently putting the wrong meal on the wrong table. Also the food was DIVINE. Every single item could be served gluten free. He also had a number of different sakes and was happy to discuss/ recommend. We went there again the next night and there were a number of people doing the same. Warning; queues to get in on a Sunday night, which I’ve noticed is a big night out in Japan!
