Review of La Dolce Vita

Went here twice while on vacation in Ottawa. First for dinner on a weeknight, had GF calamari on recommendation of the waiter (who is also on a gluten free diet) and it was amazing!! Got a seafood cannelloni for my main which was absolutely out of this world!!! Best GF pasta I’ve ever had. Tiramisu for dessert was top notch! Chef came to the table as in other comments, and he is a gracious, wonderful host. Went second time for lunch on Saturday, and had pizza which was very good too. Taking one star off because on Saturday during a very busy lunch time while they appeared to be understaffed, they first brought out regular pasta for my celiac 7 year old and left it for her for long enough she could’ve (but didn’t, thank goodness!) taken a bite. The waitress caught the mistake and took it away, and brought a new order GF. But it shook my confidence and felt I should share given the high ratings here that PLEASE BE CAREFUL EVEN HERE TO DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ORDER IS REALLY GLUTEN FREE! Even the most well intentioned people are still only human and mistakes can be made. I will still go back and highly recommend this business. Get the tiramisu, you’ll be so glad you did!
