I am always grateful for legal seafoods. Their allergy commitment in the menu, the awareness of the servers, the variety of options, are all so by oof. I went twice while in Boston. Both times I enjoyed the GF rolls, and ate lobster. Once was a whole steamed lobster. The other time was the lunch lobster roll in a lettuce wrap. The lunch special came with fries (dedicated frier), Cole slaw, and soup. Neither of the soup options are GF and they apparently won’t sub on their lunch specials. That was a little disappointing, but it was more than enough food regardless: I will be back.
In my option, this was like a seafood version of Olive Garden. It just seemed mass produced and I didn’t realize it was a chain until I already made the reso. However: The food came out quickly and only one person delivered it every time and always presented it as gf - which I love. The calamari was great! The blackened shrimp was great. The oysters were meh, wouldn’t get oysters there again. Pretty many options. Not sure I would go back but I didn’t get sick.
Clearly marked on menu what could be made gf. Food was good. Ordered lobster roll but was told it would be served w just a pile of lobster and no bread. Substituted salad so had a lobster salad instead. Others had sushi and offered tamari sauce. All fried food breaded with gf breading.
Very nice meal. Almost all off the menu is gluten free. Even their regular dredge for fried food is gf so fried seafood is available. I informed our waiter John that I was celiac and he ensured me that was no problem, even offering to bring me gf rolls to start. All the food I ordered, and the food of others in my party I thought I might try, were delivered by one staff person whose job it was to ensure my dietary restrictions were met. All the food was great. The only issue was I felt the whole belly clams were more similar to clam strips, but that was a minor detail.
This location does NOT have a dedicated fryer. I confirmed this over the phone with the chef and in-person with my waitress. I ordered a caesar salad with no croutons and my salad was delivered by the manager with croutons. The manager said they were gluten free, but I asked the waitress when she stopped by and she didn't even know that Legals had gluten free croutons! She double checked with the kitchen and the croutons were gf after all, but I would strongly recommend against visiting this location.
Omg, I am from MN, so there are few times I have eaten fried calamari, shrimp, fish and chips. It is all in a dedicated fryer. The calamari was amazing (crispy, not chewy) and I was so full that I couldn’t eat another plate. They brought out a gluten free roll that I had to ask if it was really gluten free. Then I asked for a dessert menu and they had a chocolate lava cake with a macaroon cookie (and ice cream - although I can’t do ice cream). I am so happy. I struggled with the choice since it is “in the mall” but there is a gorgeous view (make reservations on the weekends). If you have the chance - go. Just go. I’m so satisfied for another 5 years!
We have been struggling since this is our first time traveling after celiac diagnoses. My daughter was very happy with all the choices and felt very comfortable eating there. Wait staff was very understanding and accommodating. She was extremely happy which made us all happy. Food was excellent. Thank you Legal Sea Food.
Can I just. Take a moment. To say this is my favorite place to eat as a celiac. They have gluten free rolls (which do not cost extra!!!) and are probably some of the best I’ve had. The majority of their menu can be made gluten free (ALL OF THEIR FRIED FOOD IS GF) and they even have dedicated allergen runners that bring you your gluten free meal so that they do not touch other plates that contain foods with gluten. This is the safest place to eat by far as a celiac and every experience here has been amazing. I once had a waiter secretly pack me some gf dinner rolls to go because I told him they were the best I’ve ever had. Don’t get me wrong, the place is expensive; seafood in general is expensive. But this is one of the very few places where it is worth every penny.
The staff took the need for GF very seriously, including different runners brought out the GF dishes. Dedicated GF items that are SO GOOD! The Rhode Island calamari is exactly what you want it to be and the lobster roll is jam packed with fresh delicious lobster! Highly recommend for a great dining experience.
Fantastic experience. Allergy needs taking seriously and emphasized any time food brought to our table by a manager. We felt accommodated without being viewed as a burden. Staff was knowledgeable and courteous. Able to enjoy our time without feeling that we were a burden. Food was great.
This is probably one of the best places to eat gluten free, along with 110 Grill. I’ve eating here many times, every time something different, and have never gotten sick. The staff is really knowledgeable and they even bring you gf bread, which is pretty good. The only thing I didn’t like was the clam chowder—only the lite one is gluten free and it’s not good. Hopefully, they’ll make the regular one gf in the future.
I was so happy with my meal here. I just got the fish and chips (which I’ve never had before but always wanted to try) and it was amazing how normal the breading tasted. I haven’t had any good fried food since finding out I was celiacs (not even a decent chicken finger) so this just blew me out of the park that I found something after all this time.
Food was incredible and I made sure to specify that I had celiac disease. The manager (rather than my server) brought my food out just to acknowledge that it was GF, which was very nice. The GF rolls (free of charge) were warm and absolutely delicious! I got the fish and chips and my meal was huge and just wonderful. Will be coming back next time I'm in Boston.
I don't usually even like seafood, but I find that anything I have ordered is quite good at Legal Seafood. They have a dedicated gf fryer, and they take you seriously when you say you're celiac. I didn't get poisoned when I ate there, and I tend to react to very small amounts. You can eat here with confidence.
Had a really great meal. Staffs were really helpful in recommending suitable meals for gluten and dairy free. ;)
