Best bakery so close to Portland! I come here weekly and get an AM cure or biscuits and gravy, as well as all the delicious pastries and baked goods to go. Completely GF dedicated facility! The staff also are so nice and put so much energy and time into the delicious foods.
Delicious! Friendly! Veterans discount. Sign on the door courteously asking that people not bring gluten food in. Decent prices, a little spendy, but for good food, served with a smile, and ZERO worries about cross contamination.... worth it.
I wish I was more articulate and able to describe how good this food is and on top of that, the owners are the NICEST, caring people. Living in AZ where the safe gluten free options are severely limited and the understanding of cross contamination is blunted at best, this place is heavenly. I would spend the time and money to fly to Portland for the privilege of visiting with these folks and eating their food.
The food here was good. The bread they put on our sandwiches was a little dense. The cinnamon rolls and cake were light and fluffy and delicious. They would get another star if they had any semblance of customer service. No one greeted us when we arrived and NOT one smile the entire time we were there. Super weird and cold shoulder atmosphere. I asked the owner a a question and got a curt one word reply. Don't try to make conversation, get your baked goods to go.
Dedicated facility is always nice. can't go wrong there. As far as taste, the buns were very dense and heavy. We prefer lighter bread. The clam chowder and soup was watery and stringy. Good option for those that live nearby. it's a bit of ride for us, about 25 mins without traffic. Worth a try, but not worth the drive for our personal preference.
My wife (who is Celiac) and I found this wonderful bakery/cafe about 2 months ago. We were delighted to say the least! We were bummed to hear that they had to move but yesterday we went and visited their new location in Clackamas. They did not let us down! My wife tried their Clam Chowder and was extremely happy and satisfied. We love their German Chocolate cake. We have had a slice of the actual cake and one of their cupcakes and they were to die for!! Their cinnamon rolls are delightful! We have shared their "French Club" sandwich twice and both times it was wonderful. We had their "Philly" once and it was very good. Our daughter (who is not gluten intolerant) went with us and had the "Camp Riley" and she was very happy with it as well. We have tried their "Toffee Bar", "Red Velvet Cupcake", and my wife was extremely excited about the "Red Licorice" bits. Her comment when she saw them was "Do you realize how long it has been since I have been able to have some red licorice?" and even better is that it actually tastes just like red licorice!!! I can keep going on and on but will end with this little tidbit: At their old location they had a sign on the windows and doors that the facility is a "gluten free dedicated facility, so no outside products were allowed in". I am assuming that they will be getting those signs again to which we really appreciate! My wife is extremely sensitive and this is a place where there is no risk of cross contamination!!! If you haven't tried out this bakery yet, I implore you to give it a try. You will not be disappointed!!
Absolutely love most of their items - though I think some of their sandwich breads lack salt. So nice to have yummy safe options! They are having to move location end of May, but I will follow them to their new shopfront when they do. Their flatbreads have become a staple in my fridge/freezer and so far their pastries have been lovely.
I tried a coconut cupcake with chocolate frosting. It was delicious! It's like a little coffee shop, and they have cinnamon rolls, cookies, cakes, cupcakes, soup, sandwiches. My only disappointment was that they use artificial food dyes and sprinkles instead of naturally colored, and our family is allergic to food dyes. They also sell croutons and rolls and breads.
Everything I've tried is great. The cinnamon rolls are so good, it's tough not to go back for seconds. I personally like their breakfast bars. While they are a bit dry, the goodies packed into them keep me buying more. I can't believe this great bakery chose to locate in Gresham! So glad they are here.
I found the place to be for those who are gluten free, whether by choice or health, come one, come all to Liberated Baking for stress free lunches and goodies galore. A delicious sea for the eyes to feast upon, tantalizing the gluten free who want to indulge or just enjoy a sandwich while out and about. I checked out Liberated Baking after a friend procured one of their cakes for my birthday. It was so delicious. The first time I was there, I went on a date with my dh and even he (gluten fan) raved about their sandwiches. If you don't know, everything here is gluten free...everything. So, there is no risk of contamination as there is no gluten ever in the building. For someone who has suffered illness from supposedly gluten free friendly places who also serve gluten, this is a relief.Continuing, we had the beef soup and sandwiches, coffee and a sampling of shortbread, cupcakes and pastries. The monkey bread or pull-apart bread was delicious. There was some white chocolate treat (I normally hate white chocolate for being too sweet) I loved. The shortbread was a bit on the dry side, but they had been open for only two weeks, so I'm sure it's been ironed out.The next time I visited, I purchased a variety of goodies, and one loaf of each of their breads. This time I tried their cinnamon roll. It has a good cinnamon to sugar ratio and just the right amount of frosting, but was on the dense side. I say this with the desire for it to be as flaky as its gluten counterpart. I have faith this can be accomplished as they make such good bread, cakes, and other goodies. The whole grain bread is good for what it is. However, my daughter found out that apparently she is sensitive to the taste of Amaranth flour, which if you are sensitive to it, tastes a bit like bad seaweed. They say most people are not sensitive to it though and the bread sells out, so I believe it. The white sandwich bread is the bomb. It is full of yeasty air holes, not too sweet, and soft as sandwich bread should be. It's a larger loaf then Udi's or Rudi's for the same cost and Liberated Baking's bread is a far better quality product. Chris is one of the owners and he is always willing to listen to feedback and weigh what he hears. Obviously, the majority of customers rule. I am normally not a person who like bought cakes, cupcakes and the like because they are far too sweet. Chris and the bakers here make it just right, which makes me happy. My daughter and I love the sandwich bread so much, I am beginning to make special trips once every two weeks or so (a half hour away for me) to pick up a few loaves and I always leave with a treat or two. Who wouldn't? This shop is worth the drive. They are located back from the street a bit, and the building sits at an angle, so they are not the easiest to find the first time without GPS of some kind to tell you what parking lot to turn in to. They also have a small shelving system to the left of the display case with boxed gluten free foods you can purchase as well. I saw some pastas, Annie's gluten free Mac and cheese, etc. They have several small, two seater tables and a couple of four seater tables. There are no booths or large tables. The coffee is drip and self serve, along with water. As others have mentioned, they do not have a menu. This is because their stock changes daily. They always have some kind of cupcake or cake available, some kind of cookies, sandwiches and bread. The rest changes every day, which is good. Variety in life is good.Chris and the employees are so nice, and just recently, they added gluten free biscuits and gravy on Sunday mornings! Yea!
This place is fantastic! Completely gluten free and very accommodating! They have a few dairy free options as well! I had a slight allergic reaction to one of their cookies and the woman working there quickly got me all the ingredients to try and help see what it might have been (still not really sure but she said they would try to help any way they could!) Great options, friendly people, a safe place to eat.
Wonderful. So many treats that I've been missing. We are visiting the area and our suitcase will be full of some of their baked goods. We had the breakfast sliders. The rolls were fluffy. I took a cinnamon roll to go and it was divine.
Everything is gluten free! Wooooooo hooooooo! What a pleasant surprise! I had a bacon breakfast sandwich On a dinner roll. Now I'm wishing I had bought a bag of dinner rolls... I can't believe how yummy it was! Great breakfast & lunch menu and lots of baked goods to choose from. I can't wait to try their croutons. This will be a must stop place to and from the gorge from now on!
Wow! Finally I've found an establishment that is gluten free and not everything else free. They do have vegan options, but non vegan too. I tried their biscuits and gravy, which were good. The best thing I had was their bagels. They actually have some chew to them which is one thing I really have missed from my regular bagel days. Thanks!!!
I am here atleast once every other week for lunch and to stock up on goodies. They have everything you've been craving but can't have! Fabulous cupcakes, dairy free and vegan options! (My favorite is their vegan chocolate! SO GOOD!) Sandwich's, soups, salads, pot pies to go! They even have buns, croutons and bread crumbs, made to order cakes and cup cakes zucchini and banana bread (certain days of the week) Need I say more! Awesome place if you're in the area or even want to venture a little out of town! The best part is they are completely gluten free so no worries about Cross Contamination for us Celiac folk!
We love this place and just found out we get to move down the street. Love the zucchini bread, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes and sandwiches. Your able to create your own sandwich by filling out a form, they make it and I was warned my selection may come out soggy. I've had GREAT sandwiches. I myself didn't know I reacted to gluten, thought I had IBS till meeting my partner who is highly allergic and neg on tests. But has the long drawn out reaction of herpetiformis where you shed your skin after sleeping all the time, and stomach issues..so I really appreciate a facility that ensures those people do not get sick and thank God for their delicious food. My friend loses 20# too which this place will help to restore his wt. from all the 'poisonings' he gets everyday by those who don't know what they're doing and cross contaminate food. Oh and the chicken pot pies are the best. All the food is yummy..breadsticks, scones, loaves of bread, cupcakes..yum yum
Love this place! By far the best dedicated gf bakery I've ever been to! Great selection of cookies, brownies, cinnamon rolls, salads and sandwiches. Sadly, I was just passing through a couple times for work otherwise I'd be a regular. They knew me by name only my second time there. Super friendly-can't beat it! Lots of parking too.
