Super yummy cinnamon rolls! Our family had both the gf and regular and everyone enjoyed it. Pretty expensive for a cinnamon roll and extra for frosting but was very safe for celiac with a separate area for gf food, had gf cookies, bars and donuts too. Yum!
This is small cute place . The employees were friendly and helpful. They reassured me that everything is prepared separately and kept separately as well. I loved that they had vegan options as it is hard to find both gluten and diary free options . The cinnamon roll was very yummy . A bit expensive but worth it .
I was very happy to find this place while visiting the aquarium with my family. They had several gluten free options, which were separated from the gluten options.
I visited twice - both times to grab a gluten free cinnamon roll. The roll itself was good (it’s not like there are many options for great cinnamon rolls for GF). It was much smaller than the gluten version, which is disappointing given the upcharge for GF. Additionally, they were able to make an iced coffee for me, although it’s not on the menu. It was OK. I’m thankful they even have the option of something safe for a person with Celiac.
I was so happy to find this place!
They had a whole section, separate from the gluten items, of gluten free items to choose from.
I had the gluten free cinnamon roll, which they heated up for me, and it was good.
If you’re in the area and want a GF snack I recommend this place. It’s not big, but it’s good, and I didn’t get sick after.
Was standing in line at Ghirardelli down the street, when I read the reviews for this place. I was craving a small treat and not ready to commit to a sundae (plus asking a ton of gluten questions). I went to this place and saw all gluten-free items separated into jars. I got the cinnamon bun with frosting. They heated it up, and it tasted delectable. Would recommend :) they did say the ice cream there wasn’t gluten-free…but they sell gf cones. If you’re wanting ice cream cones, go there to stock up!
Gluten-free cinnamon buns and products are kept completely separate and server washed their hands before serving me. They also had a separate frosting they used just to put on top of the gluten-free cinnamon buns.
The bun was delicious and was served warm, would definitely recommend.
The cinnamon rolls are good. Maybe slightly on the dry side. They are kept in a separate area away from all the gluten items.
My only complaint is that the establishment doesn’t honor their signage which has been up for years (looked at pics on Google 2022). There’s a list of all the rolls offered from regular to almond, gluten free & sugar free. At the very bottom it clearly states Family 4 Pack: Buy 4 Get 1 Free! The lady told me it was for “only” the regular rolls & pointed to other signs posted. Which said nothing about being only for “regular” rolls. So I told her. She then said it’s for the frosted & unfrosted ones. Which I said yeah & that’s how the gluten free ones are offered too. Frosted or unfrosted. I really tried but in the end I didn’t win. They really need to fix their sign if that’s the case. I felt somewhat ripped off & frankly discriminated cause I’m being penalized for having Celiac! The sign said what it said which includes gluten free rolls! I’m posting a picture below of their sign of false advertisement.
I’m unsure if I’ll be going back. Went to Nece’s in the past & I think I prefer them better plus it’s a Dedicated Gluten Free Establishment
Was excited to see separate cinnamon rolls and frosting and even a separate microwave to warm. HOWEVER, after ordering and asking the employee if she could please be extra careful as I have Celiac she went to finish a gluten order to which she touched the edge of parchment with food on it. She then directly moved to put together our order without washing her hands. I had already paid and decided to let my non-celiac family enjoy the cinnamon rolls without me. While the rolls were in the dedicated microwave, she went back to do another gluten order touching pastry parchment with food on it, and then asked if we wanted silverware and napkins, to which she handled the with her gluten contaminated hands. Could I have tried to eat the middle of the cinnamon roll yes, but the fork was contaminated. At this point it wasn’t even worth it. If the service doesn’t wash hands or wear gloves between touching gluten vs gluten free then I can’t trust they bake the food in a safe manner. Sad :( why bother to go to that extent and ruin it at the finish!
I was so excited to have a GF cinnamon roll. I was DELICIOUS!! They warmed up the cinnamon roll, though you don’t have to. The GF baked goods: cookies, lemon bars, donuts, etc are all on a separate side of the room under glass domes with dedicated serving utensils. I bought a vanilla donut to have later.
I was excited to get to have a gf cinnamon roll. It was tasty, texture was pretty good warmed. All gf items were under their own glass domes, and utensils and frosting were dedicated for the gf items!
I was excited to have a gluten-free cinnamon roll, and while they definitely delivered on that promise, it was just OK. Very nice service, other gluten-free items I didn’t try, and close proximity to the aquarium and make it really wonderful, but the cinnamon roll itself, was just OK.
I was a regular here while I went to school in the area. Great pastries & breakfast sandwiches & coffees. I heard through the grapevine (so, this may or may not be accurate) that the owner's daughter had celiac & sadly passed away, so the gluten free options here are definitely made with care. I'm a silent celiac so I'm not sure how safe they are, but everything I know of them leads me to believe that they really care and try to make a difference for people like us.
Very poor service!!! We were really looking forward to having a GF cinnamon roll for my daughter but the lady at the counter ignored us for 15’ even after letting her know that we were here. I can understand that you are busy but the least you could do is to let a potential customer know about it instead of clearly showing that you don’t care…
Easy to find and extremely safe when it comes to food safety. The cinnamon roll is delicious, it’s so exciting to finally find a gluten free cinnamon roll after years of not having one❤ Totally separate area for GF. And different microwave to warm up. Very knowledgeable staff and so friendly!
Yummy gluten free cinnamon rolls were the perfect breakfast before we walked over to the Monterey Aquarium. The GF rolls are stored in a separate covered case, she used tongs to grab them, they have a paper pastry cup around them, and a separate microwave to warm them. Super yummy!! And very pleased with this cute little bakeries GF procedures :)
I ate the GF cinnamon roll with icing. It was amazing. If I lived in Monterey, I would want one every week. The staff seemed very diligent about avoiding cross-contamination; they described their baking process and keeping things separate. Since I usually cannot eat baked goods when I am away from my own kitchen, this was delightful.
Picked up GF rolls and a GF donut and took them back to our hotel for the next day. We heated the cinnamon rolls in the microwave and they were warm and gooey. Not as gooey as a gluten roll but I was so excited to have rolls (we were staying at a Holiday Inn and couldn’t have the cinnamon rolls). The donut was on the drier side but I had put it in the fridge. Overall happy mom & kids!
Stopped by hoping to try their GF rolls but they didn’t have them in stock. They did confirm that they bake them at the Mourning Dove facility which is GF. I appreciate that. Just wish they had them available to purchase at 11:00am on a Saturday. (They did say that is their own recipe, not that they resell MD’s rolls)
We walked in and asked about the GF options. We were directed to a single, small, enclosed container with a couple of items that looked old and unappealing. We walked out.
Edited to add:
I would NOT recommend this to a fellow celiac and am frustrated that my review indicates "celiac friendly". As a celiac, I walked out.
Would highly recommend. The cinnamon rolls are excellent!!! We stopped there yesterday and again today. The gluten free rolls were kept separate from the other baked goods, so we felt really comfortable that they were safe to eat. I suggest going earlier in the day so they don’t run out. And, get it warmed up...so good.
