Their fryer is now used for foods with gluten ingredients, so their tortilla chips, fish tacos, etc. are no longer gluten free. Only maybe less than half their menu is GF now. Staff on the phone did not seem very confident about answering questions, but did eventually speak to the chef to be sure.

Lots of great options. Most if not all of their menu is GF by design. They had the most amazing Tres Leches Cake!

Everything is gluten free and celiac safe, including the chips! You get so much food, too! It’s delicious! We left stuffed and happy.

We got the traditional guacamole & chips (so good!), the fish tacos, and the mushroom tacos. Both types of tacos were very good but quite spicy. Needed a side of rice & beans to cool my mouth down. Also tried the blood orange margarita. A fun place for dinner & delicious. Reservations are recommended.
Dinner is an all gluten free menu- things I can’t usually get other places fish tacos! Chips! I love love love this place

It is not celiac friendly because the lunch menu is not gluten free and they don't switch out the oil in the fryer. The dinner menu is NOT even 100% gluten free so there is a chance of cross contamination.
The first time I came here I was told everything is 100% gluten free. The second time it was during restaurant week and the menu was not gluten free at all. The third time I ate here, the waitress told me that it is not gluten free during lunch and that they had not emptied the fryer so 99% of the menu was not going to be safe for someone with celiacs.
Some dishes might be gluten free because they do not contain any obvious gluten but they are not necessarily certified gluten free, or less then 5ppm. I'm not sure they know the difference between naturally gluten free foods, and certified gluten free foods that have been tested, which is important when using flours amongst other things. They don't understand here that even 1 crumb can make a sensitive person sick.
I read another reviewer said that the house marg is not gluten free - I've been told that it is and drank it twice. Wish I'd known.
Stopped coming here because of getting sick and because every time I ask the same questions I get a different answer. This is a fake gluten free place.

WHOLE DINNER MENU GLUTEN FREE!!! Waitress was knowledgeable about Celiacs and cross contamination and assured me that any dishes or desserts that were on special at lunch etc were prepared in a different kitchen. Even suggested drink choices (house marg not gluten free!)
Yes
Fabulous delicious meal! Waitress was knowledgeable about celiac and changed my margarita order...house marg is not gf. Loved everything and will go back next time I’m in Philly. Very quaint dining room and great service.

Ate dinner there 2 nights ago, and everything was great. Hostess confirmed 100% gluten free w the exception of a dessert made elsewhere.
I then read a recent review here saying that the fryer is used for gluten during lunch hours. I was terrified! So I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager , Josh. He confirmed that the dinner menu is GF, while the lunch menu is not. The fryer is dedicated GF now (not always in the past). I made sure he was aware that this is all important information for those of us w Celiac, and the staff needs to know exactly how to answer the "are you gluten-free" question. I will definitely go back in the future.
Yes
Great dinner, knowledgeable staff. Didn’t make me sick. Only complaints are the short menu and lack of options if you (like me) have a dairy allergy.
Yes
Amazing meal You can have tres leches Mexican corn Knowledge bartender

Serious yum. Almost everything is gluten free. Just a couple desserts have gluten. Professional, friendly staff. Fabulous Mexican food and margaritas. Can't wait to go back!

The food at lolita is so delicious and the first time I ate here, I didn’t get sick. I was so happy and excited to order delivery the next week, which I ate and the next day got really sick from. I later found out that it was restaurant week and they had added empanadas made with wheat to the menu, which were fried in the same fryer as everything else. Almost every menu item there has some element that is made in the fryer, so this is major source of cross contamination. Yes, this was only for one week during restaurant week, but it just made me feel distrustful of how seriously they take being gluten free if they would add a wheat item to the menu and not include any notice. They also had tiramisu for dessert made with wheat and always serve beer so its never been a 100% gf facility. Make sure you talk with them pretty thoroughly before eating here if you are celiac or hypersensitive. If you decide to risk it my favorite meals are the fried chicken tacos and street corn and tres leches cake.

Knowledgable wait staff, guided around the menu to avoid anything that goes in the fryer. Food was great, full of flavour and well priced for the portion sizes. 1 star down, would be great if the menu was a little clearer on what goes in the fryer and what doesn’t.
Yes
Food was delicious, entire dinner menu was gluten free but be careful because not the lunch menu, went there for dinner to be safe but was sick for the rest of the night, I think there is cross contamination.

The dinner menu is not completely GF based on my recent visit. We had a knowledgeable server who said it was safe to order anything that does NOT go into the fryer due to potential CC. She was able to give us guacamole with soft corn tortillas instead of tortilla chips, which was super yummy. The jicama was a very nice added crunch. That along with the veggie enchilada was very good. It's seems there's inconsistencies with what the servers are communicating (based on other reviews) to the guest, but I was fine and I'm glad I played it safe and followed the servers advise.
Outstanding, tasty and authentic Mexican cuisine. The dinner menu (not the lunch menu) is completely gluten free! I was in heaven that I could order anything I wanted. The fish in the fish tacos is breaded in plantain flour. I recommend the ahi tuna small plate.
Everything gluten free - no cross contamination risk. What a great find!!

Food was delicious. Tacos, chips, salsa. Usually can't have the chips but here you can! Light food, small tacos. Waiter and host very knowledge able about what had gluten in it. The only thing gluten was the beer and an entree made with beer. We were very annoyed with the service. We waited for chips and salsa and watched how others who arrived after us were served them. We were actually ready to walk out when the server brought chips to us.

The entire menu is gluten free and everything we had was delicious! Highly recommend!

I LOVE this place! I have come here with my boyfriend twice now when I am in town to see him. The food is amazing!! Great tacos. I have celiac disease and this place is heaven on earth because the whole menu is gluten free! Thank you thank you for the safe food!! ❤❤❤

As the other reviews say, get a reservation. The food is pretty good, and almost everything on the menu is gf, but really pretty straightforward tacos and the like.
Yes
Awesome place but be sure to make a reservation, even if you are showing up at 5pm. We only made it in because of a no-show and the host turned away at least 15 parties while we ate. When I mentioned I am celiac and needed to know if anything else was fried in the same oil as the chip, our waiter told us the entire menu is gluten-free. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Salsa and guacamole were great but octopus tostadas were knockouts. Mexican corn was outstanding. Hangar steak tacos were spicy but very good and salads were huge. Staff is friendly too.

I don't know why the listing says cash only – they took my American Express card fine.

Awesome food! Was told everything on the menu is gluten free
Stumbled across Lolita in the winter (2014) and have been back twice. My wife, living with Celiac Disease, and I absolutely love the fresh food served here. Can't wait to return again and again. Friendly, knowledgeable staff make for a worry free experience. If you're living with CD Lolita is one of the best dining experiences, period!

Awesome margaritas and food. Almost everything on the menu is gluten free. The staff is very knowledgeable.

Paradise for celiacs! Food and service are excellent... and the Sangria too!
Entire dinner menu was gluten free. Food was excellent. Service was pretty good.
Entire dinner menu is GF! Delicious drinks (not BYOB anymore and also accept credit cards).

As someone else said, the entire menu is gluten free except for one dessert. If you are like me, and never are able to share food with your dining partner or have free reign on a full menu, this is a nice treat for you.
I of course still confirmed with my server when i arrived, and she assured me that everything is gluten free. All fryers are gluten free and all prep areas are gluten free. It was delicious.
Also, in the notes someone says that is cash only. They accept cards now.

Entire dinner menu except for one dessert is gluten free! Servers are knowledgeable, and chef was willing and able to work with my onion allergy as well. A must go!
Lolita version 2 is very GF friendly. Almost their entire menu is gluten free (except most desserts). I highly recommend their taco special on the blackboard!
This place is very good Mexican and much of their menu is gluten free just ask your server.
