I did not get sick. HOWEVER… even though almost everything on the menu is marked GF, they use a shared fryer. So in reality, it’s a small number of things. And as far as taste, it’s just okay.

Not getting all the 5 star reviews... They do have a lot of GF options, but the food is barely ok. We had a group of 4, three of the four said their food was just ok (including me), and the fourth didn't finish hers because it was "terrible".

Almost everything on the menu is gluten free made with corn/corn tortillas. And! Food was amazing. Tons of options. Not cheap but not outrageous. $3 tacos up to $20 dinner plates. Food was really quality and had great presentation. Staff was super friendly. Safe bet for good GF Mexican food.

Food was absolutely fantastic. I got the puerco en guajillo. The waitress was certain that the chips are fried in shared oil, so I would say don’t trust earlier reviews saying chips are safe. She did ask what kind of tortillas I wanted, but otherwise everyone seemed very clear on celiac. I’ll be back.

GF CHIPS!!! My mom (celiac), her cousin (not GF) and I (gluten sensitive) went here for a late lunch and it was delicious!!! When we ordered our waitress, Dallas,told us that almost everything could be made GF and that there was a dedicated fryer for the chips so there was no cross contamination. We found out that the owner, Kurt, made our enchiladas himself. He has a niece that's celiac and he understands the consequences of cross contamination. We are leaving Arizona tomorrow but we will definitely be back the next time that we come visit Joni!! Five stars for Los Somberos!!

Great food, but don’t eat the chips! May have cross contamination issues. I had the shrimp tacos… so yummy. I got the veggies and rice as my sides. Waitress was knowledgeable about celiac and GF. I did not get sick, but I did NOT eat the chips or salsa.

Many gluten free options. I usually get the smoked chicken enchiladas or Puerco en Chipotle. Their queso with chorizo, beans and onions is also amazing. I ask for corn tortillas to avoid possible contamination with chips.

This is my go-to for Mexican food. The gluten-free dishes are marked on the menu. Everything I've ordered has been delicious, my favorite dish is the rib eye steak tacos, they have so much flavor! The chips and salsa are great, I always end up bringing an order home with me. I've never had any cross-contamination issues. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone with Celiac or a

gluten intolerance.

Menu is smaller than many Mexican restaurants but lots of GF options. Corn chips are not fried separately from the flour tortillas. I had the smoked chicken enchiladas listed as GF on the menu. Tasted good.

The hostess was not very knowledgeable she gave us the wrong information about the separate fryer for chips. She went and asked and came back and said they could fry them in a separate fryer. We asked our waitress and she also said they would fry our chips in a separate fryer. The menu was labeled with GF. Waitress was knowledgeable and if she had any question she went and asked. Food was delicious!

Great Mexican food that is safe enough for a celiac. Items are labeled Gluten-free. Also, the chips are prepared in a dedicated gluten free fryer so I was able to enjoy them. The mole sauce on the enchiladas isn't the best I've had, but the food is delicious overall. The helpings are generous and the service was very good. Will certainly go back when visiting Tempe, AZ.

This was so yummy! I seem to almost always be hungry since going gluten free, but this actually was too much food. I didn’t touch the chips bc the waitress said they fried everything in there, but other said different? I would ask. Better safe than sorry.

Probably the best enchiladas I’ve ever had. They even have vegan cheese! Plus, a dedicated fryer for chips. SO yummy and absolutely no reaction. I will absolutely go back when I’m in the area!

There are tons of GF options, and they fry the chips in a separate fryer, which is an immediate win for me. The guacamole was amazing, and I loved my chicken tamales. My friends enjoyed the margaritas. Server was knowledgeable.

We just had a wonderful lunch at los sombreros. Adam, the owner, greeted us enthusiastically when we walked in and the service was excellent throughout. The menu was more interesting than the usual Mexican food. Adam took great pains to ensure that everything we had was strictly gluten-free. Highly recommended!

This is amazing! They came to my work through foods and I could eat something but then going to the restaurant almost everything was ok. Our server literally said "pretty sure isn't a good enough check for a gluten allergy" in response to the cooks comment and that really helped me feel safe to have that level of attention

I was disappointed as other reviews said they were safe. We didn’t eat them but I really wanted to enjoy chips and salsa. I will still give it 5 stars because my son did not get sick. Amazing restaurant!! All the food was safe and gf. Owner Kurt was knowledgeable, friendly, passionate about his business and awesome. We sat in the patio and it was chilly but he made sure we had enough heaters around us to keep warm. Loved the flan, shrimp tacos and queso, and guacamole. Light crispy chips. Margaritas mmmmm. Excellent food!

The food, the atmosphere, the service.... This place is amazing! I love the uniqueness of the menu coupled with the fact that 80% of the menu is gluten free as is. Everyone we spoke with knew what gluten was which in itself is rare. I think we found our new favorite Mexican food! Try the hibiscus enchiladas!
