Yes they do have gluten free pizza, but I don't understand why so many people are so excited about it. The crust tasted like a butter cracker, not appealing to me in a pizza crust. The Chicago-style pepperoni topping was nothing special. The only alternative to this was a crust made of Italian sausage, which was greasy and just plain nauseating. The best part of the meal was the bone-in chicken wing appetizers. Not worth the hour and a half wait to get in.
Best gf pizza ever!! No gf appetizers
I used to work here. They are not careful about cross contamination at all!! They use the same pans as the regular pizzas. Do not eat here if you have Celiac
I know this review is the minority but we did not care for the gf pizza. The price was reasonable but neither my son nor myself cared for the crust. For me also, the crust left a unfavorable aftertaste.
The pizza was good and the servers are always really nice. They seem to be very careful about cross contamination.
LOVED the GF crust!! So I had their pizza Friday AND Sunday for dinner! So happy to have a close place that my family and I can enjoy.
The butter crust gf pizza is to die for! Celiac friendly.
I had the thin rice crust pizza and it was great! I've resolved that I will never have a pizza experience like I did before I had to go gf so my expectations are different. I couldn't eat the cheese bc I'm also dairy free, so I loaded up with good toppings. I had sausage, garlic, spinach, black olives and mushrooms. It was literally the best gf pizza I've had since eating gf. Obviously, pizza with no cheese is lacking so I got some olive oil, sprinkled salt in it and dipped my pizza in and it was perfect! This restaurant is also highly recommend def by locals. The non-gf pizza is incredible says my pizza deprived husband! It is made deep dish and the sauce is on top of the impossibly long and tantalizing cheese. They may make the gf pizza like this too, I just don't know since I can't have dairy.
tries the pizza last night with sausage , it was actually really good I had light cheese but cheese still bothered me , but def going back for more!
I am so excited I just found out they have a small thin crust gluten free options? crust yay we are going to try it very soon just happy to hear that there with the times and care about the gluten free and celiac community!!!!!
The pizza is good although you have to love sausage but the cc got me. Disappointed b/c Lou's was my fave pizza.
GF pizza is cooked in same oven as regular pizzas, so cross-contamination is highly possible. However, the GF sausage-crust pizza is made in a separate deep dish pan so cross-contam. is unlikely in their ovens. We’ve had this many times with no issues. Sausage crust is not on the menu so you have to ask for it. Tell them you have the “allergy” and they will be careful.
The menu says right on that the gluten free crust is made in a sterile environment but it's finished in a unsafe environment. So I asked and she explained that the crust is from a gluten free bakery and then they cook it in the same oven as the gluten pizza. The gf crust is cooked on a pan though so it seemed ok. So far haven't gotten sick and usually I know within minutes if I got glutened so it's an ok from me!
I've tried the GF pizza at this and other Lou Maintains locations and find the pizza crust to be very "doughy," difficult to eat (and cut into) and digest. The Malnati's salad is very good - I get it without the cheese and have not had any issues.
They have a gluten free thin pizza listed invitee menu I got that with mushrooms and olives. The crust is hard and really pretty flavorless. I am guessing the pizza is cooked in the oven with the other regular pizza's because later that evening at the hotel I felt horrible and ended up taking some Benadryl. I would not recommend this location if you truly have celiac disease and are not just eating gluten free. Against the Grain frozen pizza's are way better tasting
My husband is a Chicago native and was very much looking forward to a pizza from Lou Malnati's. Since I have Celiac Disease, my pizza nights are few and far between. I was very much looking forward to this pizza but was not only disappointed in the GF pizza itself but more importantly, it made me very sick. However, I tried the GF sausage ring pizza in 2008 (Wildwood location) and did not have any problems with it at all.
When my office brings in pizza, they typically bring in Lou Malnati's. They've ordered the GF cheese pizza for me. Frankly, it sucks. The crust is so hard I've nearly broken a tooth on it. And crusts shouldn't create a squeaking noise when you bite into them. It was tasteless and, quite frankly, not worth the money. I only ate them because I had nothing else with me.
Absolutely horrible. The entire restaurant is a disorganized disaster. Horrible. I have celiac disease and I went with a friend who has a gluten sensitivity. I am currently laying in bed in pain. Halfway through my meal I thought I would vomit. My friend is currently in the bathroom vomiting. We both had the "crustless gluten free pizza" I told the person I gave my order to that I had celiac disease. They are the most disorganized, unapologetic, careless restaurant I have been to in years. Also when we asked to split the bill we paid cash...afterward we were all given our change in a lump sum left for us to divide on our own. The processes and organization of this restaurant need serious reconstructing. The whole place is chaos and on top of that I'm now ill. Never ever again. Go somewhere else that is run like a DECENT restaurant because this place would be lucky to be considered decent
GF pizza that tastes great! I had cheese and sausage; enjoyed every bite. Buttery crust is fantastic and nothing like the standard frozen GF crust used by many pizza places. Only available in one size which is perfect for one happy GF person.
Had the wings and pizza. The wings are baked they're not bad, nothing special in my opinion. I also had the GF pizza, it wasn't bad either didn't think it was anything special. I did get sick, I would say be very cautious and talk with your waiter because it sounds like the opportunity for cross contamination is very high. They do not have a separate prep area for gf foods. They also have wine and angry orchard to drink.
I went here when they first opened up by my house and the waitress told me a pizza was gluten free, brought it out, let me eat an entire huge piece of deep dish, and then came out and said 'oh that's the wrong pizza' and handed me another one. To which my mom asked if the one I ate was gluten free and she lied straight to our faces and said yes. I was sick for three days because she messed up and couldn't just check in with the chef. Their pizza isn't that good, honestly dominoes is better than this place and they don't lie. The service is also very slow.
Just ate the GF wings and they were possibly the best I've ever had. The combination of the baked wings, with a little crispy-ness to them, the slightly spicy buffalo sauce and what has to be homemade blue cheese was a home run or if your watching the Bears play, a touchdown!!! Waiting for the GF pizza next- more to come on that once I've put that down too. Ok- so I just ate the pizza. I can't believe it but they actually pulled off a tasty deep-dish GF crust. It was thin enough on the bottom while being thick enough around the crust. It was cooked just right and maintained an excellent and even texture. It tasted like a buttery crunchy crust but not too hard to where it hurts your mouth. It really was just right. I could only eat about 1/3 of it through because I was already getting full from the wings and this pizza really is filling. You could easily share it between two people and be full afterwards. The sauce is very fresh tasting with a little tangy kick and some chunky tomatoes. The ingredients were also very fresh and still a little crispy. The bell peppers and onion were cut into large chunks which added a unique texture even on top of the aforementioned. Overall- I would have to rate this the best Gluten Free pizza I've had. There was obviously a commitment to making this good and not just have a GF option available without regard to texture and or taste like most places. Great Job Lou!!!
