Loved the food here! Two of us are gluten free and had no issues. We ordered the beet and black bean burger, and the veggie wrap. We always buy Samis GF bread so we knew we would be fine even though they make them in a facility with their regular bread. Some people may have an issue but we were fine. Staff was very nice and they had awesome art on the walls!
Very friendly folks here, but the marketing that the restaurant is "always GF" is misleading for those with celiac disease or a wheat allergy. They use Sami's bread and wraps, which since 2016 have included the following on the package — “Contains Gluten, Wheat and Yeast”. (There is a new loaf as of 2018 that is now marketed as GF, but others are still not GF. ) The bakery also states that: "They make it known to our customers that if they have a wheat allergy, sensitivity to gluten, or are celiac, NOT to consume our products.” This is a common issue in St. Pete - if a restaurant says they are GF ask what products they use and skip the bread and wraps if they are Sami's.
This place is not completely Celiac friendly. They use Sami's Bread which is not certified gf and made in the same facility as other gluten filled products. I asked and they showed me the packaging and told me that all the ingredients didn't include gluten so it was gf but gluten free was nowhere on the package. After researching I learned the Sami's Bakery makes all their gf bread in the same facility as their other products. If you are Celiac do not order the bread.
Stopped in for soft serve ice cream after the Dali museum. Had the chia flavour (almond free, but uses cashews) it was a great texture and the spices had a real but soft kick to the natural flavour. Worth side tracking for.
I ordered the sushirito and thought it was delicious. They were low on shiitake mushrooms so they added some tempeh. I really enjoyed the cheese plate. I always enjoy trying new vegetarian/vegan cheeses. I also ordered the key lime pie with chocolate crust.
Please note that I was told they use gluten free bread from Sammy's in Tampa. I was advised to eat it at my own discretion if I had Celiac disease. There is a risk of cross contamination at the bakery and the label on the bread clearly states that it can contain traces of wheat and gluten. Not ideal for someone with Celiac disease. I was glad they warned me when ordering.
