Went here as we wanted to try this regional dish, was aware there might be a risk here given prior reviews. The tartes flambéwere very good and the bread is super thin and crispy. I did feel like I might have had a minor reaction the following morning but given we’re eating out in city due to travel can’t say for sure it was from here and not elsewhere. Glad we tried it.
I finally had gluten free flammkuchen!! They did warn us that it is not a dedicated kitchen and for that reason they do not recommend to celiacs, but they do understand cross contamination and take every precaution they can. We asked that it be served in a take out Box rather than the wooden trays that regular flammkuchen comes out on. A must visit!!
Delicious tarte flambé. On the menu it is stated that it is not suitable for coeliac due to possible cross contamination in the kitchen but I’ve kindly asked to pay attention and to give us the tarte in the paper box (the one used for take away) because they use the wooden chopping boards for all the tartes. I’m very symptomatic but I didn’t have any problem.
Sehr leckerer glutenfreier Flammkuchen gegen Aufpreis.
Flamkücken that can be made gluten free!! It is served on a cutting board that is not dedicated, so you have to decide if you can take that risk. I’m highly sensitive and did not have a reaction. It was so good! I wanted salad but the waiter dissuaded me saying it would not be safe.
Good glutenfree food available. The menu sais that 100% cross contamination cannot be guaranteed, but I have not had any issues. The flammkuchen taste just like the regular options according to my friend. Very good!
We tried to go today and saw that they now have a note on the menu saying that their gluten free options are not suitable for coeliacs. I asked a waiter and he said everything is prepared in the same place and they won't guarantee no traces of gluten. Some may want to take the risk but I didn't so we didn't stay to eat. Later I spoke to a coeliac who lives in Strasbourg who said this was a new addition and she has stopped eating there. It might be fine, but it seemed like they didn't want coeliacs there any more.
Very tasty food and friendly people. They are now clearly stating on the menu that the food ist not suitable for celiacs. Gluten free food ist served on the same wooden board used for other Flammkuchen. Better ask twice when the food ist coming, they brought lactose free instead of Gluten free by mistake. Yet, they apologised when they realised the mistake and brought the right Flammkuchen afterwards, which was fine and we had no problems with the food afterwards.
I am celiac and ate there yesterday. While ordering I said a few times that I need the gluten free Flammkuchen. Then we got our food and it looked pretty good so we started eating. After eating 3 pieces the waiter came and told me that there was a mistake of him and I got some normal Flammkuchen with gluten. He was apologizing a few times but this didn’t helped me. 3 hours later I was feeling extremely bad over the whole night.
They also use the same wooden boards for the gluten free option and the normal one. They don’t have papers underneath. After asking the waiter he told me that they are very carful in the kitchen about contamination. But only the fact that they use the same wooden boards is definitely too much for people with celiac.
Please be careful!
We were very nervous, because the waiters clearly did not know about celiac desease but once we explained and asked them to make sure pans and knifes are clean and asked them to put the tarte flambée in a paper take away container instead of using wooden plates, the kids enjoyed their meal very much.
The tarte flambé was delicious. It’s rare that the GF version looks as delicious as the non-GF version. I can’t speak to the taste of the other, but mine was amazing. Considering going back again before we leave this part of France.
Note: I have sensitivity, not Celiac’s. Since I didn’t have to discuss cross-contamination, I can’t speak to that.
Nice restaurant with terrace. I asked the waitress about contamination. She responded that they clean the oven before putting the gluten-free one in, but it didn’t sound like they have a separate oven. Because someone said here, that they are using the same wooden board for serving, I asked about a plate and the put it in a paper box (for delivery).
Delicious glutenfree Flammkuchen! Not so big, probably need 2. Definitely book a table in advance!
I had a lovely gf tarte. I have asked the staff if they made separately and she said yes on a different tray. Unfortunately it was served on a wooden board ( like all others) which I am not sure of how they are cleaned. It tasted great but a feeling of possible contamination throufh the board was there.
My brother is a celiac. They attended very well, all the tarts can be done gluten free and most of them lactose free, so there is a big variety. For dessert I’d recommend the apple and cinnamon tart :). There are a lot of wasps so if you are allergic you might want to be aware of it.
The BEST gf tarte flambée in strasbourg. Need to try again !
We loved this place. I am the only one who has to eat gluten free in my family, but we just ordered gluten free so I could try everything. Even the gluten eaters said the gf tartes were delicious!
Fantastic local food but done with a gluten free twist. It's specifically the pain flambe but it's great. The place is full of locals too which is always a good sign.
Right, so I don't know if it's celiac friendly (waiting on the verdict my body will give me tomorrow). BUT it tastes amazing and the dough is gluten free and they say that they are careful in the kitchen. My main concern is the oven, which they apparently clean before putting in the gfree "pizza" type tart. However, if they use the same oven, how confident are we REALLY... That being said, if I don't get sick, I may have to move here if only for the tart pizza thing. They are AMAZING!
