Mama Katie is super friendly and tells you exactly what is safe. Her and her daughter have celiacs so she knows the struggle. I had eggs Benedict with gluten-free bread and hashbrowns. It was delicious!! You can also get gluten-free French toast and I brought home a gluten-free chocolate chip muffin.

Just stopped in here on a road trip. Not only was Katie kind and helpful, the food was really nice! Diner food—celiac daughter thrilled to get a MASSIVE gf muffin and breakfast sandwich. Katie took the time to explain what was safe to eat and what steps they take to avoid cross contamination. A real little blessing to our family on the road.

I was very excited to try Mama Katie’s after reading a review about it on Facebook. I drove an hour to try it for brunch on a Saturday. They are very knowledgeable friendly staff I have ever had in a restaurant. It was mostly young girls who were very attentive and knowledgeable as well. The food was just ok. I had eggs, chicken fried chicken no gravy, hashbrowns and Cajun fries. I like to try a lot of different things when I go out to eat. Unfortunately I could tell everything was frozen and heated. Just depends on what you are used to eating I guess. The Famous Toastery was better where I went on Sunday in Mooresville.

Drove 30 mins after reading the reviews but don’t feel like they were fully detailed for future guests.
We drove bc we saw someone write chicken tenders! Just know they are frozen and the inside looks like McDonald’s questionable chicken. Yuck. Owner is like yes there bought premade frozen.
Basically everything was like going to fast food breakfast. It said farm fresh eggs. Def not.
The muffins are premade mix.
Not worth it. Sadly. I would rather 5 things homemade on the menu then 20 items all pre frozen and all just reheated but the eggs. Ewk!
Worst part we took a bite of 1 tender and just ordered eggs and not once did the owner who stopped at the table or waitress go is everything okay with them? Odd.

Owner has Celiac. She comes out to the table to explain everything you can order that is gluten free. Has a dedicated fryer. I got the chicken tenders and fries! There is no gluten free menu but she did say she was working on making one soon!

This place is amazing! Mama Katie herself comes out and explains what she can make GF for you. My daughter had the best breakfast sandwich and hasbrowns. Highly recommend!

The owner herself came by our table and took the time to explain their GF options and also that they have a separate grill area, fryer, etc. Turns out she has celiac herself and fully understands the needs we have! She was so friendly and awesome.
Some GF items she mentioned:
- French Toast
- Chicken Fried Steak
- Sausage
- Fries (dedicated fryer)
- Bacon
- Some muffins
- And there were several others that I’m not remembering at the moment.
These items are not currently marked on the menu as GF, I believe they are working on updating. But if you ask, this kind owner will walk you right through it. So refreshing!!

Went to Mama Katie’s because I saw a article on the Charlotte Observer about making changes to the restaurant to make it celiac safe. Katie (the owner) and her daughter both have celiac disease. They are in the process of making a celiac safe environment (getting a dedicated GF fryer and toaster). Katie came out and talked with me personally when I said I had celiac. She does have GF bread and buns. I had a celiac safe French toast and it was literally the best thing I have ever had since being diagnosed. My husband even tried it and said it tastes just like regular French toast. Will definitely be coming back!
