Owner was not happy to answer my questions regarding gf good and cross contamination. If you go through the trouble of having a gf menu, at least talk to the customers who are anxious about eating out and reassure them about safe food practices.

Ordered the gluten free fried catfish and the fries. Really good! I've had some of the best catfish in Louisiana and Oklahoma and this is comparable and even better because it's gluten free!!! My husband had Nashville Hot Chicken (not gluten free) and was amazed. Service was also excellent. Very careful and very nice. Making sure I was at ease with the fact that they took all the precautions. I'm so glad my husband recommended this restaurant... He made me a happy woman and I will be coming back!

Amazing place! Delicious food and extremely knowledgeable staff about gluten free food and cross contamination. The gluten free menu was extensive and delicious! So many items I’ve never had gluten free like fried pickles and oysters, soft shell crabs, and great!french fries.! Have complete confidence in them so will definitely bring my super sensitive son there without a doubt!

My husband and I just had dinner for the first time at Mara's - we are SOOOO happy we found this place!! The food was excellent and the owner and staff were VERY helpful when it came to choosing gluten free options!! Mara spent a lot of time with us going through the menu and explaining ingredients. We are so limited in our gluten free restaurant options because of the severity of my husband's Celiac's disease - and this place is a GEM! We will definitely be back and would HIGHLY recommend Mara's to others.

This restaurant is awful and the owner is beyond stubborn and uninformed! I was asking the basic questions as to how things were prepared and what ingredients made the dish, and the owner was unnecessarily defensive in her response. There are inadequate substitutions for gluten free options, and when asked why something as simple as buns couldn't be kept in the freezer, she answers with there is no room, as if a pack of buns really takes up much space?! Also, it was very disturbing in her defense that she was ranting that they don't have a certified gluten free kitchen, as if there is such a thing, so there is no guarantees about cross-contamination, and when asked what was in the sauce that came on the side of my dish, she said it was completely fine, then mentions worscester sauce as an ingredient, not knowing that it contains gluten, after which I told her, and her mumbled response was that there is only a spoonful... NEVER going back!!!

This place cares about us and it's absolutely amazing. For all the places that don't cater to us...this place makes up for it. Gator bites are unbelievable.

Absolutely amazing! The food is outstanding, best BBQ I've had in a really long time, they even havea gf chocolate souffle (takes 30 min). They are really careful about cross contamination and I had no problems. I recommend making a reservation.

Awesome place! They have a huge gluten free menu and have delicious food. Their shrimp, salads, and gator bites were amazing and the staff was highly knowledgable! Highly recommend

I am so excited about this place!! Found it last minute on Find Me GF and I am sooo happy I did!! Let me start off with the like 10 page menu of drinks...crazy! My margaritas were so delicious made with 100% agave tequila and fresh lime juice!! No nasty mixes! Never thought I would try it but I did....The Gator Bites were so good!! And the Crab fingers soaked in garlic and butter...yummmm. Had the Blackened redfish ontop of Collard Greens. Even though I was stuffed half way through I couldn't stop eating it!! And even the collards were amazing. Everyone not having GF with me was living their food too. Especially the Bluegrass Pie. They were going nuts for it. Can't wait to go back and try the GF desserts too!!

what a terrific surprise. Mara's Homemade is a gem in the gf world. A menu filled with surprises of fluent free foods not modified to fit the bill. The menu is a looseleaf binder with ten pages. 5 of which are ever type of liquor known to man And the the five pages are incredible dishes with a cajin southern flavor. David the proprietor is a warm funny southern flavor(from Arkansas) gentlemen filled with funny stories. Rory our waiter was wonderfully attentive and patient to our large group. Mara's Homemade is a not to be missed mom and pop establishment.
