Great grab and go GF. My daughter got chicken pot pie and said it was good. She’s super sensitive celiac and didn’t have an issue.
Cakes are not good at all. That's all I've had from the upstairs.
Edit: pumpkin cake and raw cashew vegan cakes are good . Egg rolls (gf) and some occasional uens are good also.

Soups are safe, stay away from their gluten free sandwiches though if you have celiac, cross contamination is certain
Marlene's staff is wonderful about answering questions you may have. The deli has great gluten free food!
The coconut cream pie was fantastic! Sandwich was good. Deli was very mindful of cross contamination and suggested I not grill my sandwich.
This place is amazing! Don't miss the Deli upstairs. There are many gluten free options... made to order sandwiches, ready made salads, several beautiful cakes, pies, clearly labeled GF. Well worth the stop!
Love this place! It's along the lines of the nugget, whole foods or sprouts, but smaller. Great environment and GF options.
Great juice bar, coffee bar and GF and vegan options for snacks/meals at the deli. Come early in the day for the best selection of GF/vegan sweets. Good grocery selections. They have a good selection of GF personal care products for reasonable prices

Went in to get a green juice. I said I was celiac with cross contamination issues.I asked her if she was able to employ cross contamination procedures, and she gestured over to the area and said there's nothing there that would be an issue. I saw the wheat grass there and asked about the proximity. She went into the back and got a new cutting board and knife. My throat feels swollen and I've had some pains that I get when glutened.
I think I lucked out and beat the lunch rush. Requested a tuna melt on gluten-free bread and let them know about my celiac status. The woman understood, wrote my status on the order ticket and confirmed that they use fresh utensils, and a clean prep area. I ate the sandwich and a slice of gluten-free cake with no issues. Delicious!

This place is AMAZING!!! I feel so lucky to live close enough to shop at Marlene’s. The staff are the friendliest people I have met since moving here last month. A special shout out to Karen, in the body care/supplements area. 😊 The deli should really be called a restaurant. They serve wonderful GF soups and chili, as well as salads and frittatas. They even had a chili relleno casserole that was GF, and a lasagna too! The store itself had LOTS of GF products at very competitive prices. All in all, Marlene’s Market and Deli is a winner in my book! Highly recommend! Oh, and it is locally owned, not a franchise, only two stores; Tacoma and Federal Way. Go see them!
