I think I lucked out and beat the lunch rush. Requested a tuna melt on gluten-free bread and let them know about my celiac status. The woman understood, wrote my status on the order ticket and confirmed that they use fresh utensils, and a clean prep area. I ate the sandwich and a slice of gluten-free cake with no issues. Delicious!

OBSESSED! So many options, delicious, and nutritious! I’m always excited for my next stop in!

Cross contamination at deli. Baked goods were delicious. Shopping there is wonderful.
This place is AMAZING!!! I feel so lucky to live close enough to shop at Marlene’s. The staff are the friendliest people I have met since moving here last month. A special shout out to Karen, in the body care/supplements area. 😊 The deli should really be called a restaurant. They serve wonderful GF soups and chili, as well as salads and frittatas. They even had a chili relleno casserole that was GF, and a lasagna too! The store itself had LOTS of GF products at very competitive prices. All in all, Marlene’s Market and Deli is a winner in my book! Highly recommend! Oh, and it is locally owned, not a franchise, only two stores; Tacoma and Federal Way. Go see them!

definitely risk of cross contamination. I watched the person prepping my GF sandwich cut it with a dirty knife. I tried to educate her but she didn't seem to care much. Good GF desserts though.
No
It's all organic produce. They have a cold press juicer.
it seemed like a decent selection but they didn't carry glutino baking mixes and there were no pie crusts at all.
Very badly contaminated bet we are sensitive it is like a 50 50 chance of getting contaminated.

Great sandwiches

Great GF options. Delicious!
Terrific selection and plenty of GF groceries. Deli and salad bar didn't work for my daughter who is celiac but I'll bet it would be fine for less sensitive. For a town short on Trader Joes and While foods as well as Puget Coop, Marlene's looks like it could meet all your daily needs.
Awesome! Lots of Gluten free options! Love the deli with lots of Gluten free options including desserts!
Love this store and the deli is amazing. My favorite place for lunch. Weds. & Fridays are gf pizza day in the deli and its so delish!!
Better than trader joes, great options and wonderful food.
Better than Trader Joes in my opinion, large selections, high quality products, knowledgable and friendly staff :)
Love the sandwiches! GF bread is a little soft so I recommend not overstuffing when customizing your order or just use knife and fork. Great GF soups. Great shakes! Sometimes they make GF pizza. Yum!
Great grab and go GF. My daughter got chicken pot pie and said it was good. She’s super sensitive celiac and didn’t have an issue.

Cakes are not good at all. That's all I've had from the upstairs.
Edit: pumpkin cake and raw cashew vegan cakes are good . Egg rolls (gf) and some occasional uens are good also.
