No offense, but this place was a joke for the price. My teenager has Celiac's. Pizza wasn't that great and for $22+ it wasn't worth the rest of our meals to sit through. She said it compared to Udi's frozen. Our bill for a family of 4 was right around $120+ with appetizers and drinks, not including tip. None of us finished our food due to taste. My 7 year old wanted just cheese pizza and it came on garlic bread, which she hates and was not advertised as that on children's menu. Our service was the other issue. It took TWO HOURS and most of the time we were flagging our waitress asking her for things versus her anticipating need: drinks, plates picked up, orders placed and not yet received. We all got our meals at different times. We were on patio, therefore out of mind out of sight, I guess. This place is not worth the $$$.
Very expensive for good, not great, pizza. Gf crust is very thin and has a whole wheat taste to it.
I had the GF pizza and it was tasty but the pepperoni was spicy hot and I suffered with my GERD the next day. Won't be having that again.
A little pricey but worth it!
Good pizza but a gluten free pizza with sausage, pepperoni, sundries tomato and red Peppers will cost you over $20!
Both my children loved their GF pizza. The non-GF pizza was excellent as well. We will probably be back later this week! Very child friendly.
Yummy gf pizza! And it was a good size pizza..12". I had the Kosmic Karma pizza and it was delicious!
My teenage daughter is Celiac and did not have a reaction from consuming a GF pepperoni pizza both in HH and Savannah. She loved the pizza. This chain makes good pizza and salads.
WATCH OUT I was served a beer that was not gluten free. The waitress said that she was told that it was gluten free. Had I not known about this particular beer, I would have become very ill. They have Estrella Damm which is a spanish beer that does have a gluten free version called Daura, but you have to be very careful because the non gluten free bottles look very similar to the gluten free bottles. The Daura bottle does have Gluten Free on it. WATCH OUT!!!!
Great pizza, dependably GF. They claim to have dedicated utensils and change their aprons. One pizza feeds two of us easily. No GF desserts.
Fabulous experience with gluten allergy. Knowledgeable staff and really good pizza!
Every time I come down here I go to Mellow Mushroom. The GF crust is one of the first I've had from a restaurant that doesn't taste like cardboard! Good stuff!
I have eaten the gluten free pizza multiple times and have never had a problem. The best gluten free pizza I've ever eaten.
Good pizza options with yummy GF crust! All pizzas are expensive there.
The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about what needed to be done for my son who has Celiac. The kitchen staff did an excellent job preparing for limited cross contamination and the 12" pepperoni pizza was $12.99 which seems very reasonable compared to other GF items we purchase.
Excellent gluten and dairy free pizza! The staff was all very knowledgeable and the menu even describes how they bake the crust in a separate area of the kitchen! I am very sensitive and had absolutely now problems here. Very impressed and will be sure to stop by another one whenever I get the chance!
the gluten free pizza crust is very thin, so mine was soggy. could just be the vegetarian pizza though. it tasted decently but it was SO pricey! 22 dollars for a 12" pizza. until I discovered my gluten allergy, I ate there a bunch and loved it. I will not be getting gluten free pizza here again! everything else was great.
Best GF pizza I have ever had!! Expensive but so worth it!
Very good. We split a salad and the white pizza. Salad came out in 5 minutes & pizza took 25, which I think is a reasonable amount of time for homemade pizza. While the price is a bit high, I'd still go back. Just not too often.
Delicious pizza with a pesto swirl! Expect the wait for dine in or carry out to be very long. It is great to be able to enjoy pizza night with everyone else!
I was very disappointed. Not only did we wait 45 minutes to get our pizza, but my order was wrong and my husband's pizza was cold. We were so looking forward to the pizza. Also, the GF pizza is very expensive. Two medium pizzas came out to $48!!!!!
They have a separate gluten free pizza section of the menu with about 6 different pizza options, or create your own from a list. The staff was nice but we waited a long time to be served though it wasn't crowded. They gave us a discount when we mentioned waiting 45 plus minutes after ordering to get our food. My daughter with a wheat allergy enjoyed being able to have pizza. The menu says the gluten free pizza is all cooked separately.
The gluten-free pizza is very good.
They have less topping options for the GF pizza. Garlic is listed in the menu as a non GF option as some other toppings which it was a bummer. Also, the crust was hard and didn't taste much like anything, it was just dry. Good news is I didn't get sick! They do have a dedicated side in the kitchen just for GF food preparation, I was informed. But unfortunately not a good tasting GF pizza.
Was my favorite until they decided to nix the plans for the one in Hendersonville, TN (just a few miles from downtown Nashville) to build a second in Nashville. When there was only one in Nashville, I dealt with walking 1/2 mile from parking to restaurant, expensive prices (gladly paid to have servers and cooks trained about celiac disease), and driving over 20 miles to get to that location. Will never eat at Mellow Mushroom again. Recently in Destin, FL. Drove to Ciao Bella (excellent food) rather than set foot inside another Mellow Mushroom. Would always eat at the one in Bowling Green when we were there, Gatlinburg when we were there, etc. Many people were disappointed when they decided not to build in Hendersonville. It's all about the $$$. More money to be made in downtown Nashville than a few miles out in another city of only 60,000 people. One star because it is the least I can give.
As of August 1, 2017, all locations changed the size of their GF pizzas. The ONLY size you can order now is a very small personal pizza - what I would describe as a kid's pizza. Despite this change, my pizza was nearly $16, plus an additional $4 for vegan cheese. Although the pizza is tasty, I don't know anyone who would be ok paying these prices for a teeny tiny pizza. Very disappointing.
The chef has sat down with me several times to tell me about potential cross contamination and offer me alternatives. I think in both instances I have tried to order the Cobb salad and he came to tell me the bacon and chicken are on a glutened cooking surface. Seriously appreciate the attentiveness to this!!!
They do have gf pizza (udi's) and separate place for prepping, however the pizza was dry, tough and over cooked. I have only been there once, so maybe my review isn't fair. I thought it was way too expensive and over-all not worth going back to. I have been told bu others that the salads are very good and gf friendly.
The staff was incredibly helpful in making me a pizza I could eat. The menu is labeled and the staff was willing to go to the kitchen and verify what ingredients could be prepared in the back vs. on the line. When there were ingredients that were not prepped in the gf area, staff was great at substituting and making me a delicious pizza. They've changed the sizing/pricing, so the pizza is smaller than it used to be, but it is also priced at the small price + $2- a better option when just 1-2 people need gf. Would definitely return.
I love their gf df pizza!! I get as often as possible and they are super clean so I've never gotten sick from them.
They have a GF crust on the menu, but it's small and costs more. And they were out when we were there. The only other thing on the menu to eat is a salad. I built my own salad - it was good, but we chose to eat there so I could eat pizza. Pretty disappointed.
My first experience with Mellow Mushrooms was great. I ordered a gluten free veggie pie . I had great service and a safe meal despite it being packed. My second experience was far from okay. My table ordered 2 gluten free pizzas. One came out 45 mins later. Then the manager came to tell us that they burnt the other pizza and will be making us a new one. It took another hour for the new pie to come out. We paid and left, within an hour I was incredibly sick. I'm severely sensitive to gluten and haven't been that sick in years. I was so disappointed as they claim to keep everything separate and what not. It wasn't even busy so there is absolutely zero reason my pizza was a)messed up b)got my glutened
I cannot say enough great things about this place. The pizza is really good! They even have their pizza toppings separated by what they can confirm hasn't been cross-contaminated. The chef came out to chat with me for a bit and just went out of their way to accommodate me and make sure that what I ate was safe.
I ate here on August 9th for the second time in 2 years while we were on vacation. Their gluten free menu is very limited with a 10" gluten free pizza; however, that suited me just fine. They make their own GF crust, and the pizza was great! If you are looking for GF pizza, I would definitely recommend Mellow Mushroom. If you are looking for GF variety, you might try a different restaurant.
Got pizzas to go while on the road. Was told they have a dedicated cook for GF pizzas, as well as dedicated oven, area and toppings. My only complaint was it was pretty pricey for a GF pizza with very little toppings (got olive oil/garlic base, spinach and bacon). There was one tiny sliver of bacon and a couple leaves of spinach on each piece
They were super friendly and amazing!
I had the Gf small pizza! I got half pepperoni and half sausage. It was really good. Server double checked things for me and was great!! It wasn't as expensive as gf pizzas where I live. It was $12!! I wish I had one where I live but will be back when I travel!!
Decent pizza. The toppings were not very generously doled out on the pizza top (at least two inches of crust on each piece). Have some concerns for cross contamination, as the pizza is on a metal plate the same as other pizzas. Also, most of the plates at our table had multiple scratches in them, some being deep and may harbor gluten.
Great staff. Located at 33 Industrial Drive not Extension which will take you to the incorrect place.
It used to be safe. I hadn't been in awhile, because it's so pricy, but I went yesterday. I was glad to see the crust was cheaper than before, but there are less options now. You have to do build your own if you're Celiac , and each topping is ridiculously pricef. They use to take great precautions, but now I'm sick. Not Celiac friendly anymore! I'll stick to frozen pizzas.
First off we've eaten at many mellow mushrooms and we love them, but this location sucks, sucks is an understatement. I would in no way judge other locations against the one in Carmel, IN and I will definitely eat at another one, just not this location. Maybe it was the night we went on or maybe it was being a family of 5, I'm unsure. Order was wrong gave red sauce instead of olive oil on 2 of the special order pizzas we ordered. NO soap in the bathroom and a worker knew said yeah we don't get soap until tomorrow as the worker was leaving the bathroom 🤢
not for celiacs. more than just a little gluten.
